Good quality at a reasonable price

I have been cooking quinoa as a healthy grain since it became widely available in US grocery stores. To prepare it you have to vigorously rinse it to remove a protective seed coating containing saponins. This is a soapy, bitter tasting material that creates a frothy rinse water. Rinsing is complete when the bubbles disappear. The first time I used Yupik Organic White Quinoa the seeds rinsed without the usual froth of bubbles I was expecting. This was very different from other brands of quinoa I have cooked. The Yupik quinoa turned out light and fluffy with a very mild, nutty taste. However, I rarely cook quinoa alone; generally adding it to rice for a protein boost. While rice has a longer cooking time it doesn’t affect the texture of the quinoa enough to change it. Also I want to say I have purchased a number of whole, organic foods from Yupik and would definitely recommend their products in general.

It’s very easy to cook and I recommend to all my friends and neighbors. I’m happy to have found this brand on Amazon. It was fresh, cooks up just as I need.
