CHASING UTOPIA

Nikki Giovanni is a national treasure, I love the simple complexity of her poetry and musings. It's not so above my head I don't get the meaning and yet it's layered and captures the full range of emotions. She makes you laugh, she makes you ache, she makes you think. One of the things that I love best about this book is that she pays tribute to other artists, at times recalling conversations or drawing from their inspiration- Sonia Sanchez, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, many others. As is often the case with Giovanni, it manages to feel both intensely personal and communal at the same time.

Giovanni is an author of great worth, engaging, revolutionary, thought provoking...there are few poets in her realm that inspire and motivate.Way to go!

Good product

I am not necessarily a fan of this type of poetry. While I know she is beloved, I wanted something more profound.

I hadn't purchased any of her works in quite a while. Read a sample and I am so glad I did! This is a wonderful collection of poems and stories.Anyone who likes Giovanni should get this one and add it to your collection.

I had forgotten about poetry- Glad I picked this up after seeing one of her poems in my facebook feed. I will be looking into more of her work.

This was such a great book that I finished it in one sitting. It made me go back and purchase some of her older titles, which were also very good. I recommend this book to others.

It's Nikki G. - whether ego trippin', observing or musing on the everyday, the possibilities or the world Miss G never fails to bring a smile, an Aha or Say What? to my mind. She never fails to deliver.
