Translated into more than seventeen languages, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain is an international bestseller. This starter kit contains Edwards’s two essential books—Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and the indispensable companion book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Workbook. Whether you are just beginning to draw or you are drawing as a professional artist, as an artist-in-training, or as a hobby, this groundbreaking program will deepen your artistic perception, give you greater confidence in your ability, and offer a new way of appreciating and perceiving the world around you. Review: Worth it - Great book and learning skills!! Review: Good exercises to improve photography (and drawing of course!) - I've always liked drawing but actually got this to see if I could improve how I see the world. Every step in these books is there to reverse the lazy brain we all have and see the world as it is - and find beauty in everything. I've really enjoyed working through the exercises, surprising myself in how fast you can improve once you structure things but still retain your own style. Spending quality time doing this work has made dramatic improvements to my drawing skills and made me seek out quiet opportunities to sketch the world - and also realize how difficult photography can be because you can't just leave something out of the photo - you have to exclude it purposefully; but also helped unlock "seeing" in new ways.

Great Art Book
This is the Go,d Standard for learning to draw. Many years ago, it was the text for a college course I took. I’ve moved many times. This is the third time I bought this book. I highly recommend it for anyone learning to draw.

A Great Introductory Course in Drawing
If you have ever had the desire to learn how to draw, this is the perfect place to start. Edwards has an excellent way of breaking things down into ways that are easy to understand, and the tone of her writing is positive and supportive. A quick internet search shows that some of the scientific explanations she outlines in the main text are controversial. However, regardless of the mechanisms at play, the exercises in this book are incredibly effective in helping you to quickly learn the techniques that are needed to draw well. The included workbook follows along with the exercises in the main text closely, and adds some bonus opportunities to try out what you are learning. It helps keep the lessons organized and works well as a companion to the main book. If I had to offer any critique, it would be that the paper used in the workbook is a bit on the thin side. For some of the early lessons that involve line drawing, this can cause elements to bleed through the page. A little distracting, but only affects one or two exercises and is not a problem for most of the workbook. This package is extremely valuable, particularly for the price. I would say the workbook is not absolutely necessary, but it is helpful. If you have always wanted to learn how to draw, there are few better resources for the absolute beginner when it comes to gaining confidence and capability.

Great sleep aid!
This book is fantastic. I have really bad insomnia and this book puts me right out! I just read a couple paragraphs in bed and I fall asleep almost instantly. If you have trouble sleeping, definitely pick this book up. Also, if you enjoy puzzles, the kit comes with a puzzle where you have to figure out the differences between the main book and the workbook, because they refer to each other and neither match anything they say! It's a great puzzle whenever you feel a lack of frustration and regret! I would have given this five stars if it were useful for anything else!

Tried and true effective skill building.
I did this as part of a online book club exercise. FYI it is not for the weak of heart. It's pretty intense if you stick with the timeline. The author intends, and you do all of the exercises, it did an amazing job of building my skills.

Unique Approach
This book and manual satisfied the academic in me as well as provided exercises that had immediate purpose. The teaching method is sound leading to a ' don't want to put it down because I am having fun' attitude. I am glad I retired because I will always be in my right mind now

Reliable knowledge
I knew this book prior, and enjoy the undated version as being relevant for a new generation of grand children to learn to draw, and really see what they are looking at.
