Is this fuel hose submersible? Can it withstand laying inside the gas tank?

Yes. It will not swell like rubber hose. I have it submerged in a Farris zero turn. No problems so far.

Genuine tygon tubing is branded all along the length, can anyone tell me what the tubing says?

"SAINT-GOBAIN Tygon (R) F-4040-A" is inkjet printed in white every foot or so on the yellow tubing.

will this connect to an 5/16 npt thread?

No the 1/4 ID hose will not fit over 5/16 pipe. You will need to go to ACE and in the brass plumbing section get adapter and 1/4 hose barb

I'm guessing you need a 9mm i.d. clamp? or 8mm clamp?because you'd want to squeeze it to something just under 3/8"?

I used a 1/4” worm drive clamp with no issues

This tube is the real deal for fuel line. Don’t use anything except Tygon F-4040-A hose, it’s low durometer makes it easy to use, and it seals well on the fittings
