Good oem replacement
The numbers didn’t match exactly what I took out, but they seem to work exactly like the old heating elements. I ordered two, and one came with a set of lock washers for some reason, even though the original heating elements and the other new one that I bought did not have them. They fit exactly like the old elements, hopefully these last another 7 to 8 years. New o-rings included prevented any leaks.

Saved Us A Fortune, Easy to DIY
We've had our water heater for 6 years with no problems. Last week, my wife heard a bang when I was showering and our hot water stopped. Water pressure plummeted and faucets without a filter were dumping some kind of sediment out. Unfamiliar with the water heater's maintenance, I had no idea what was wrong; I contacted a couple of plumbers to see what it might cost us. The plumbers I spoke to refused to do any kind of repair work on a tankless electric water heater. The manufacturer also doesn't have technicians to send out, so the only thing I could get the plumbers to consider was to replace the entire unit. One of them wanted $750-1000, not including materials or the water heater (another $500). I decided to look into replacement parts myself first. I read Robin Settle's review here and her problem sounded exactly like what we were experiencing. One of our three heating elements had essentially exploded, causing the element to expand and split open, dumping insulation into our water supply. Since it was stuck, I needed to hit it upwards with a hammer and screwdriver to remove it. I replaced it with the new part and everything worked perfectly. The entire repair process, had I known what to do from the start, would have only taken 15 minutes. Even if you're not terribly handy around the house, it was a very easy repair; just make sure you have something to remove and install the part - lacking a 1.5" wrench, I used some groove joint pliers. It's worth learning how to do: $40 is a lot cheaper than $1250-1500! It is worth noting that this product does not come with any o-rings. I was able to reuse the ring from the busted heating element.

It's a perfect fit
Who knows these things can go bad? Our hot water heater is not really putting much hot water, so before we replace the whole ecosmart hot water heater, we deicded to do some research online. Found it the heating element can be the problem, and IT IS! The first one in the water heater was totally corroded like it was exploded inside!! Replaced with this and everything works fine now! It is a perfect fit for the current hot water heater. Just follow some videos online and make sure you disconnect power before you open your hot water heater!

easy installation
We have used these heating elements exclusively for the last several years (since installing a tankless water heater). We have purchased 15 elements since 2017 and they have all fit and worked perfectly. We are on (hard) well water and have a Kinetico whole house water softener system, but the elements still only last 18 to 24 months; it take 3 elements to run the water heater.

perfect replacement for my Ecosmart 18...but
After my Ecosmart 18 water heater stopped heating efficiently, the manual pointed to the heating elements may be faulty or dirty with calcium build-up. Following the troubleshooting instructions for the elements, I removed & tested them with a V.O.M. checking to see if the resistance was between 5 to 10 ohms on each which it was, as well as they were very clean. So, the next option to trouble shoot was the thermistors which after disconnecting them from the circuit board, turned out to be the problem as the water got extremely hot while they were disconnected. My recommendation is to test the elements first then the thermistors, as these thermistors appear to fail quite regularly since I replaced both of mine one year ago, that is why I assumed the elements were the issue. Unfortunately, the thermistors for my older unit are N.L.A. but Ecosmart corporate addressed my scenario and graciously replaced my 10-year-old heater for only the cost of shipping to me! They also included a lifetime warranty as long as a licensed electrician did the swap out. I highly recommend EcoSmart tankless water heaters

Ecosmart heater works - be sure you need it first! For leaks only need an O-ring...
First off - if you have an Ecosmart instant water heater this is the replacement if one of your heater elements is burned out. This is used for multiple models but they also use a different heating element on some so check first. The point of writing this review is to share my lesson that if you have a leak, you PROBABLY DO NOT need to buy a replacement heating element (as I was told to do by Ecosmart Tech Support) - you just need a new O-ring! So we have an Ecosmart 27 instant water heater and things were working well. Then I started to notice it leaking water from inside the box. Water plus 240 volts is not a good thing! This one has three heating elements and the way it works is that the first one is always in use then if the water isn't hot enough the second one kicks in, etc. I just had a drip-drip-drip leak from the top of the first heating element. I called Ecosmart knowing this has a "lifetime warranty" and they said heating elements are not included for warranty replacement as it is considered a part that is expected to wear out. OK. So what if it is working fine but there is a leak from the top of the element? They said the only thing to do is to buy a replacement heating element. They also said it was probably leaking because it was scaled up and I should have regularly de-scaled. So I go to trusty Amazon and ordered this. While waiting for delivery, since I couldn't use the heater anyway I removed the heating element. There's no scale, it looks great and it perfectly functional. What happens is there is a single black O-ring that seals it, and because it gets heated all the time it shrinks and gets hard. So if you have a leak you don't need a whole new heating element, you just need a new O-ring. Ecosmart does not identify what kind you need nor do they sell these separately. So what do you need if you have a leak? Just go on Amazon and order a number 124 Viton O-ring. For less than $6 I got a bag of 25 of these! The specifics are: 124 Viton O-Ring, 75A Durometer, Black, 1-1/4" ID, 1-7/16" OD, 3/32" Width. The 124 nails the size, your choice is the material- and choose Viton because that can take the heat - along with 75A Durometer, which is the right firmness to seal. Be sure to apply a silicone O-ring lubricant, also available on Amazon or any home depot type store in the plumbing department. I'm not mad that I unnecessarily bought this - I figure the new element will be my backup whenever one of the heating elements finally burns out. I also have 24 more O-rings if I ever do get another leak! Just wanted to share what I learned!

Just what we needed!
We had one of the three heating elements in our on-demand water heater go out. As we noticed the drastic drop in temperature, we also found that several of the faucets had clogged (i.e., barely putting out any water). This, apparently, was not a coincidence. We determined we had a faulty element (was measuring in the mega-ohm range) and ordered a new one. This was last Thursday. Amazon said it would be delivered the following Monday, so I figured we had several more days of cold showers (which I dreaded every day). The vendor shipped the order ASAP and it came on Saturday. I was so thankful!! You don't realize what you have until it is gone ... like hot showers. So, my husband went to take out the old element (which was charred) and found that it had split and leaked sand (used for insulation) into the water line, which is what caused the clogged outlets. Just note that if you also have this problem, you will need to remove the head from each spout, drain out the sand, and clean the filters. Remember to turn off your water first. Anyway, the new element works perfectly and we are back to normal. I am actually planning on ordering an extra two to just have on hand in case the others go out as well.

Great product at a reasonable price.
We have an Eemaxx tankless water heater, model number EEM24018. When one of the heating elements went out, I was having a hard time finding a replacement. I took the part number off of the old heating element and got online and tried cross referencing it. I could not find a direct cross reference but it seemed the part number HE 90240 might work. So, I found this heating element and thought for the price I would give it a try. Turns out it is a direct replacement and got us taking hot showers again. The new heating element has been installed for a month and is working great. I went ahead and ordered a spare so the next time one of the heating elements goes out, I can get it back working quickly.
