Carson Pro Series MagniVisor Deluxe Head-Worn LED Lighted Magnifier with 4 Different Lenses (1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x) (CP-60)

My wife likes to cross-stitch. It is a hobby that requires a lot of close up work, and the lighting in our living room where she likes to sew is not ideal for this. So, I ordered this magnifier head lamp visor for her. The visor is nicely boxed. Included with the visor are the removable head lamp, a plastic cover for when the lamp is not used, a plastic box containing four hinged lenses, and an instruction sheet. For the most part, the visor is intuitive to use. The head lamp easily pulls up out of the visor, which you have to do to install the needed three AAA batteries (not included). Alkaline batteries are recommended, and they are estimated to provide about 50 hours of light before needed replacement. When it is positioned on the visor, the light from the headlamp can be adjusted directionally so it illuminates exactly where you want the light. The lamp has three LEDs in it, and they provide plenty of light. The head band is easy to adjust for proper fit. It is designed so the entire visor can be lifted upward without removing the head band. Installing and removing the lenses is a bit challenging. I had to use a lot of force to get the lens to pop into its proper place, and it took a lot of force to get it back out, so much that I feared I would break it. After removing the first lens, popping in the second one was significantly easier, so it’s possible that this improves with usage. The lenses each have two small hinges that can easily break if the lenses are not removed correctly. There are warnings in the instruction sheet and also on the box of lenses to pull them out of the visor at an angle, one edge at a time, or the hinges can break. Once it is properly installed, the lens can be lifted upward when needed without removing the visor. After getting everything set up, my wife quickly started using the visor for her cross-stitch project. She absolutely loves it. She says the lighting is perfect, as is the magnification. She says the visor is comfortable to wear. Overall, this is an excellent lighted magnifying visor. It is versatile and easy to use. It is a little pricey when compared with other brands, but I think the build quality is excellent and worth its price. This would be ideal for anyone who does close up work either professionally or for a hobby. It would also be handy for those who need magnification for reading.

I've reached that age where I can't see close-up work with my normal eye glasses, and it's hopeless if I'm wearing my contact lenses. This visor works very well. It has 4 different power lenses. The lowest power lens works great for seeing items at about 2-3 feet away and brings back memories of how easy it was to see clearly to work on small items before I got old! The stronger lenses require the work to be closer to your face, but make items super large. The LED headlamp is the correct brightness for doing close-up work and can be aimed in any direction. It's nice that it's removable. My complaint is the same as many other reviewers. As shipped, it is very uncomfortable on the forehead. The plastic strap is very hard. The perfect solution is to get some adhesive backed Velcro and use the softer of the two types of Velcro on the headband as a pad. I put the soft Velcro all the way from ear to ear on the headband and now it's very comfortable. It's a shame the manufacturer didn't do this for you, but once you add that Velcro, it's very comfortable to wear. You'll want at least 1 inch wide Velcro. I used 2" wide Velcro and cut it to fit (about 1.5 inches wide). My other minor complaints are that the lens case does not have any type of latch. The lenses are well protected in the lens case, but if you drop the case or turn it upside down, the cover will fly off and the lenses will fly out. The lid of the case should have some type of latch on it. Also, once you adjust the head strap to the size of your head, the strap will be too large to fit back into the box for storage. So, you have the choice of always changing the size of the headband between storage and usage, or finding a different way to store it between uses. In spite of the minor shortcomings, I like it so much that I'm going to buy a second one.

I'll admit it, I'm getting old. My near vision is not quite what it used to be. I decided to do a small electronics project, requiring working with small wires and soldering switches and wires onto circuit boards. I started out with my regular readers, but wasn't enough, so I grabbed a 2nd pair of readers and put them on top of the first pair. I looked like a dork. After a bit of searching, I found these with decent reviews and figured I'd give them a try. Package arrives (the magnifier is well-packaged in reusable packaging to make it easy to store) and I open up the package. After some fiddling to pull the light out of the visor (note to manufacturer: put a bigger hole under the light to be able to more easily force it out) to add 3 'AAA' batteries (not included). I did some adjusting and put it on. I showed them to my wife while wearing them. She laughed until she cried. I looked like a dork, but I laughed until I cried too. I started working on my project and the magnifier worked perfectly. I'm very happy with the purchase Pros: o Reasonable weight. Not a feather, but not outrageous. Remove light to save weight if you're concerned o Good magnification selection - I only needed the 2x for what I was working on (24-guage wire and breadboard) o Light is bright, but covers a nice area. o Lenses are decent quality, no issues that I could see in lower power (1.5x, 2.0x) o Adjustment screws are metal, even though rest of the product is plastic. Cons: o Case lenses come in is protective of the lenses, but you'll need a rubber band to keep it from coming open. No tabs or anything to otherwise secure it. o Lenses could secure to headpiece a little better. They don't fall out, but I did almost knock a lens out accidentally. o Higher power lenses, for me, require that I only look with one eye. Depth of field is poor for 3x, but expected. o Reasonably comfortable, but would probably get a piece of self-adhesive felt on the forehead part to make a little better. Neutral o They make me look like a dork. Won't be wearing them out to dinner with the wife any time soon. Overall, they work perfectly for my purposes (electronics) and my desired magnification (2x). The quality is very good given the price I paid for them.

I am thoroughly pleased with this lighted magnifier. The description matches exactly with what I received. I've owned a number of head worn magnifiers but this is the most versatile one I've purchased. If you have a large hat size and have trouble finding a comfortable head worn magnifier, then this is your answer. The clasp at the back of the unit is unique. One push and you can expand the headband to whatever size is needed. Too large, just push it back in and it locks in place. I tried all the lenses and at 3X you can get really detailed although I had to bring the circuit board I was working on close to my face to see clearly. I found that with the 1.5X lense attached I had better reading glasses than the pricey ones I currently wear. There is a wide enough variance in the lenses to provide the detail for whatever project you have in mind. The lenses are in a plastic case for safe storage. I had no problem attaching or removing the different lenses. The LED head light is adjustable, up or down, which is convenient when looking at different components. I like that the LED light easily pops out to use as a flashlight. The head light has a magnetic base which is a nice touch. The light is bright enough for detailed work. The band for me was a tad tight when secured on my head so I followed the lead of other reviewers and attached soft foam to the interior of the band. Problem solved. It's a really nice light and one I'll purchase again as a gift for my son! For the price I think it's a good value.

Oh, to be able to see! My reading glasses just weren't cutting it anymore and I needed a little extra help. I had researched magnifying visors in the past, but wasn't happy with the products I had found. Then, the light bulb went on and I searched on lighted magnifying visors and the Carson Optical Pro MagniVisor Deluxe appeared! The reviews were good. The company was responsive to questions and reviews. And, their customer service seems outstanding. After watching a video for this product I was sold. When it arrived I carefully read the instructions to insert and remove the lenses properly because many other reviewers complained of the tabs breaking. Once you get the hang of it by following the directions it's easy to switch them out without fear of breakage. I swapped out and tried a few lenses to figure out which one worked best for me and the close-up, detailed metalsmithing tasks at hand. The lenses also flip out so there's no need to take the visor off if you just need to look around with your own eyes or pop on your regular glasses for a moment. The best thing about this visor is the light! My work space is somewhat dark. The extra illumination shining directly on my work makes all the difference between good quality work and exceptional quality work because now I can see the details! The lenses come in a box to keep them protected and a cleaning cloth is also included. Other reviewers also complained about the band being uncomfortable. I'll admit that at first I was also experiencing headache. However, I adjusted the band and tried wearing it in different places on my head until I found just the right spot. No more headache! The band is also really easy to adjust. This is a well-thought out visor with lots of details. Similar items sell for a lot more and don't offer the light, as many lenses, the high quality, or the Carson customer service. I'm very happy with this purchase and have already recommended it to other jeweler friends who immediately purchased it, too.

With carrier issues all season long, I'd glad this came as expected! FIT: I have cap size of 7 to 7.5 (New Era standards) and these fit perfect. I still have about 4 notches before the end of the belt that is easily adjustable even when worn. This is a comfortable visor to wear for a long amount of time. Also fits fin with my John Raymond Loft glasses on. :) The glasses are nice and slim, but proportionally for large (fat) heads. COMFORT: As mentioned, these are quite light and comfy, even with the AAA batteries installed. I use them in cold atmosphere. My workshop has a ceiling fan on max, and a circulation fan on the floor on max, as well. Usually, the AC is running in the living room, so my work area is almost always comfortably cool. My point being, I don't have issues wearing this for a long time. It's plastic all around, so it may help your forehead sweat, but no big deal. I take frequent breaks anyway. FEATURES: The lenses are great. I use this visor for hobby for the most part. (My wife plans to paint her nails with these on her next need). I prefer using the 1.5x or 2.0x which is perfect for what I need. I find that I pull the item too close when using the higher magnification lenses. For the most part, though, you will have to pull what you're working on about 6 inches close to you. At least, that's me. I may have a messed up focal point anyhow. Lights are a nice touch. Too bad they don't come with a set of batteries off the bat, but not an issue as I have a box of essential batteries handy. Some reviewers think the light is too dim, but these aren't made to be the ONLY light source (but can be). Also, the light is meant for up close applications. So, the focus item needs to be within range and since you will be wearing the light on the visor, the same distance applies for greatest illumination: about 6-12 inches. I've been comfortable with the amount of light I receive from this without a hitch. In fact, it's so bright when used properly, that I can see all the paint flaws on a mini I'm working on or purchased. Definitely a repurchase when I wear this one out or when an upgrade comes out. I'm definitely working towards getting surgical loupes cos I like fancy stuff, but that's when I can afford farting $300 as if I was lactose intolerant.

I was rather excited about this product when I purchased it because according to the description and the reviews it promised to be just what I needed. I occasionally do manicures and pedicures but have dim lighting in my home and as a result find myself stooping in close which is murder on my back. I thought with both the lighting and magnification features of this product, my problems would be solved. The magnifying lenses are alright and clip on just fine despite some of the reviews I read. I haven't had any issues clipping them on or off. My only regret is with the light, which unfortunately was the main reason I bought the product. Honestly I can't even tell when I have it on. I'm surprised considering how bright some of the reviewers have claimed the light to be on theirs. Perhaps mine is defective? It's a shame because it would have been a great solution to my problem at a great price. I included two pictures in my review to show the lighting. First picture is without the light and the second is with the light on. In the second picture I have the headvisor on and have my hand about a foot (about 30 cm) away from my face.

UPDATE 6/18/17 Unfortunately I had to return these. In order to keep this thing on my head I had to tighten the visor to extreme levels which felt like a vice grip on my head. To make matters worse, the hard plastic visor made my forehead sweat which caused the visor to slide off and into my face regardless of how tight I had the headband. Great lenses but poor design choices on the visor. Looks like I'll have to opt for the design that has a nose rest. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Got these for reading a very thick programming instruction book. The lenses on these work great for reading. I don't like wearing glasses because I can't stand having something sitting on my nose. This visor solves this problem. The visor is easy to adjust for a firm fit AND the visor can be tilted upward or downward for the proper reading angle. Love the feature that the lenses can be flipped out of the way when I need to look at something else other than text. The only drawback to the visor is that it's made of a hard plastic. The "pad" that rests on your forehead is also plastic which makes my forehead sweaty. The hard plastic material isn't very comfortable but it's an acceptable sacrifice for getting to read for longer periods without eyestrain. The lenses are made from a hard almost glass-like plastic. You can definitely see and feel the quality of the lenses which come in a case. Attaching the lenses isn't too tricky. They snap in rather easily. Removing them is the difficult part. Just make sure you remove them from one side first rather than trying to left the lens out of its seating all at once. You'll definitely want to remove the lenses and return them to the case in between each use. I use the lens that provides the minimum amount of magnification of the set. I can read with my book at the normal comfortable distance and get great magnification.

Carson makes good quality optical products, and this one is not an exception. It's not too expensive, either. The headband has a wide range of adjustment and fits my head well. There are 4 sets of good quality lenses in different magnification levels (1.5x, 2x, 2.5x and 3x). I bought the MagniVisor mostly for soldering, or some other tinkering with small parts. For these purposes the 1.5x and 2x lenses are the most useful. With the 1.5x lens, you can clearly see objects at an arm's length. So you can work on things on your workbench the way you normally do. In many cases, 1.5x magnification is all the help I need. With the 2x lens, you have to get a bit closer to your work to get it into focus - lean over the workbench, use a high workbench or a low chair. With the 2.5x and 3x, the usable focus range is a short distance in front of your eyes, it can be good for inspecting something that you can hold in your hands and bring close to your face. I think it wouldn't be very convenient to solder with these lenses. Note these limitations are inherent in this types of optics, they are not a flaw of the product or sign of bad quality. Every such magnifier will be like that. You just have to be aware of it and don't expect being able to use the higher magnification at an arm's length. This is why for serious SMD soldering (when going down to the smaller sizes) people buy a soldering microscope. When taking a break, the magnifier flips up out of sight, and stays there (tension is adjustable, I had to tighten the nuts quite a bit to prevent it from falling down under it's weight). The LED light is surprisingly bright and useful, it also has a clever hinge with a good range of adjustment. It also doesn't lose position as you move around.
