Buy it!
I honestly never leave reviews but if some of you are a little thrown off by the price, I gotta tell you it’s worth it. It’s a quality machine and actually works if used consistently. It takes awhile in the beginning, especially if you’re used to having consistent breakouts, but give it a couple months and they will go away and stop coming back. I’ve used this for years and it’s changed my life. Had to buy a new one because I dropped it and it broke but I use it when I feel the occasional one come on and it stops it in its tracks. If you can potentially afford this and what’s stopping you is the fact that it might not be good, it’s truly worth the investment!

3 in a month - not worth it!
My experience with this product is truthful and honest. I get cold sores maybe twice a year, once in the fall and then once again in the winter/spring. I have always used acyclovir cream and L-lysine supplements and the cold sore takes a good 7-10 days to go away and then I don’t see them again for months and months. I ordered this product after one was starting to form in mid-February, and I wanted a quicker remedy to heal cold sores. My cold sore was active for 3 days when receiving the light and beginning the treatment. I used it for 3-30 second treatments twice a day everyday and also around other areas of my lips as well. It caused a burn on my cold sore to form and the cold sore did not go away any faster than with my previous treatment. I wanted to believe the product worked, so I kept faithful to the continued therapy and after about 10 days with treatment, it went away and I continued daily treatment on my lips daily like suggested and then a new one formed! I did the same treatment as the first cold sore and it still took 10 days to go away. I continued with the every day treatment to prevent any new ones from forming and again, like clockwork, a 3rd cold sore formed in a month’s time. The first two were on my bottom lip (left side then right side) and the 3rd is on my top lip. I stopped the light therapy after 6 days with the third cold sore and it is still healing and visible. I was too afraid a 4th would form so I wanted to prevent that. Hopefully nothing else forms. In my opinion, this light is activating them and keeping them active for weeks. I miss kissing my son and my husband and couldn’t take anymore so I just returned it and wanted to warn everyone in advance of my experience. Do yourself a favor and see a doctor and get prescribed acyclovir. For someone like me who doesn’t get these often and got 3 in a month, it’s not worth it!

Better than expected
Buying an item as expensive as this im always cautious. I used lysine on a regular basis and when id get a sore id take 4-5 for a few days hoping i caught it in time. Then i got this and stopped the lysine. For almost 2 months straight I had sores come in right after another. Figured I'd give this a shot. I used it about 4 times a day for 3-4 days and my sore was healing. Once it was healing I had a horrible pain in the area for maybe a week. Wasn't sure if I was going to like this. After my sore healed I was without any sores for a while. I bought this in October and have used it 3-4 times. If I catch my sore when I get the tingle and its on the smaller side it'll heal without the scab. If its a little bigger or catch it when I have a slight bump it may scab some. I still don't use lysine but have thought about combining the 2. I just wanted to know and see how this worked. I can say that a few years back I'd get 1-2 sores a year. Before I got this i was getting them at least every other month then, as I said for 2 months straight. The sores do seem to be in different places from where they would normally be. Overall I am satisfied with this. I feel like if you do this and the lysine that'll help a lot more than just one or the other. UPDATE: I take lysine in the morning and evening now. I feel like I still get sores about 2-4 times a year. My healing time is cut in half now which is nice. My last breakout I had 3 sores, 1 the first day and 2 the second. A week later all healed up. In my opinion this doesn't stop them from coming in as I still get them in the same spots. This is only good for cutting the healing time down.

My before and after with Luminance Red
“Gross! You always have sores on your lips,” I heard coming from another student in my 3rd grade class with an accusing finger pointed straight at a cold sore that had broken out that morning. Even though that was years ago I still remember it vividly. This was my introduction to what a life with cold sores was like. Most of my family had gotten them starting at a young age too so it was kind of an accepted thing that it was just the way it was. Before I got the Luminance Red I’d get a cold sore outbreak around every 2-3 months depending on stress, and the summer months actually were worst for me even though I know a lot of people struggle more in the winter. Just like everyone else I’ve tried taking L-lysine and Abreva and different diets. Abreva helps some after the cold sore breaks out but nothing has had as big of an impact as I wanted or helped to prevent breakouts. What pushed me over the edge to buy the Luminance Red was the clinical data and study results that I saw. Both in terms of healing and preventing outbreaks. I actually looked at some of the clinical studies themselves and it all made sense to me. I was thinking, even if I could reduce my outbreaks to once every 6 months it would be worth more than it’s expensive price. To sum it up, its been over 11 months now since I had an outbreak, whoowhooo! When I got it in the mail, I didn’t have an outbreak at the time so I waited to use it until I got one. Looking back I wish I would have started using it immediately for prevention, it might have stopped that outbreak from coming. When the outbreak came, I was ready for action and took pictures each day to document exactly how it worked. I used it 3 times every day, every 8 hours. My cold sores usually last around 8 days but this time they were gone in 3 days. I’ll try to upload pictures to this review so you can see. Since then, I’ve been using it 2 times per week, for 60 seconds to stop them from coming back and it’s been working for 11 months. I have a specific spot on my lower lip where they usually form so that’s the area that I treat with the Luminance Red as a preventive measure. I don’t know how long the Luminance red will keep the outbreaks away but so far I’m really excited about the results. One thing to point out is watch your eyes! The light is VERY bright so I’m always careful to keep it away from my eyes. They say it’s safe but I’d rather not take a chance. I take it with me every time I travel and wish they had some kind of carrying case. I don’t want to take a chance of getting an outbreak by not using it. If you’ve got the money I would suggest getting one. It’s been SO nice not having to deal with cold sores for almost a year now. So thankful for this thing. Hope you get to see for yourself how well it works!

This product is awesome!!!
I love this device, and am so glad to be able to have it shipped to Canada! I have suffered from recurring cold sores for at least 35yrs, and tried everything to lessen the severity of my blisters. I used prescription medication for many years, and sometimes it helped, but most often not. About 3yrs ago, I discovered that L-Lysine was helpful in treating and preventing cold sores. If I can take 2 capsules (2-3/day, for several days) when I feel a tingle, or when I know I'm about to get one (every time my lips get a little dry, I somehow ALWAYS break out in a cold sore), then sometimes I can minimize the damage. Last year, I came across this device and tried to order it, but they didn't ship to Canada. I had it shipped to Florida, where my mother was wintering and she brought it back for me. I used it to treat a cold sore that was about to erupt, along with taking the Lysine, and it never broke out!! Then I treated my entire lips preventatively, to see what would happen...7-8 months later, I realize that I haven't had a cold sore in many, many months. A couple of weeks ago, with a cold sore coming on, I remembered my Luminance and tried to use it...for some godawful reason, it wouldn't turn on!!! When I contacted customer service, they were extremely helpful (a huge shout out to Troy:), and got me a replacement. I bought another through Amazon, and will give it to my mother, who gets cold sores too! Hope this this review helps!!

It's shortens, but not a miracle.
I waited for my second outbreak before reviewing. I give this a three. I feel like it definitely shortens the out break. My first one I didn't catch it before it appeared... But dried it out, shortened the expansion time. Dried it out, and skipped ooze phase. Still scabbed. Still unsightly. Out break two, I felt the itch. That dry lip feeling no matter how much chap stick I applied. Immediately started using the light. Day one, no eruption. No visible sore. Day two tight, ever expanding blister. Used the light. Day three I thought this was a miracle product and I'd found my answer. It never burst, the blister flattened and dried out. However days 4-15 it still opened, scabbed, red, obvious sore. All in all of say it shortens outbreak phases, and maybe even minimizes the outbreak to a point. However it definitely hasn't prevented them, or healed them in a few days. My second outbreak was 2 full weeks of noticeable blister. Day 15 almost all dried and clear, just tight dry skin, slight footprint. Over all, I'd recommend using it, however I can't say 300.00 is worth the cost of admission. Still looking for my answer. I've tried diets, pills, L lysin, creams, this product, and honestly zovirex cream has been my most successful. But it's a pain to get a refill from my GP when the RX runs out. Wish all of you good luck.

OK.... Here is my review #1...more to follow as time progresses
So, this year I've broken out in cold sores.....3 consecutively - fisrt two I took , for the first time, Acyclovir back to back which shortened the sore to a week. I have had sores since a child. Stress/sun get me going and the frustrating thing is when LITTLE things can set it off such as avoiding a car by swerving and I start to feel my adrenaline pump. F* my body sometime ! So, up pops a sore. I've taken EVERYthing out there. lotions, postions.... Abreva (was just ok.), Lysine pills (didn't feel effective), Acyclovir (did shorten the duration to just a WEEK!), Quantum Super Lysine cold sore (found in whole foods W.O.R.K.S but need to be vigilant) Stupid amount of sun blocking chapstics ($$$$) and stinky topical potions (yea, oh crap i fell for it). This year alone the mess of chapstick (50+ spf at 10$ a pop that I KEEP LOSING) plus more slathering of 'experimental -'I WANT IT GONE NOW what's on the shelf 'crap on my lip led me to look on amazon to see what Amazon offered. Knowing the Sh*t ton of money I throw at cold sores I was like WTH, ok amazon device...I am throwing MONEY at you too cause I am tired of lotions and potions and with this price tag..... HOPEFULLY this product means SOMETHING that DOES WORK. So, back to my 3 consecutive cold sores. I bought this product aparently as a 3rd cold sore was deciding to pop up 4 days after reciept of product. I felt it breaking when i was headed to go for a dinner meeting an hour away and wouldn't be home in 5 hours... I was a little frustrated to say the least cause I wanted to HOP on this cold sore as I was totally aghast my body was doing this to me AGAIN. So I arrived home 6 hours later after a glass of wine , more of a bump on my lip at the same location i had my first cold sore. I had luckily taken device out of box when it first arrived and plugged it in to charge so I don't know wether it was pre-charged or not. Device is lightweight and easy to hold with one hand. I read easy directions and 'hovered' it above lip as instructed. I did 3 consecutive treatments on the location at 60 seconds each. Machine was easy to use: press power button and press start treatment and off it went counting down the seconds and light turning off at end. About 3 hours later I woke up and did 3 treatments more. I got to work next day after the FIRST NIGHT OF TREATMENT, drank coffee ( a no no with cold sores for a few days as that exacerbates it). I brought the machine with me to work and disguised it in a cloth sac. The bump still felt same bump-ish. At noon I went to bathroom and did 3, 60 seconds each treatment. Here it is 2pm and MY BUMP IS GONE AND MY LIP FEELS NORMAL..... so, that is POP to GONE in LESS THAN 24 HOURS..... am I believing this ??!! EEEEEHHHH So, while this is rave review #1.... I will post when i get another one. Because , my life being my percieved-stress life right now..... I WILL get one. I would say YES, BUY IT. As it freaking stinks when a cold sore can ruin 2-4 weeks of valued face to face interaction when we can feel our most vulnerable at our 'looking our best' when there is a scabby, bulbous, 'fish eggs' on our lips . Especially since Zoom and messenger and other visual chats can augment certain facial features - like my freckles- I will say I believe in this pricey product.

Disappointed- stick with Virulite
I have suffered from cold sores since I was 4 and unfortunately get them often. I have literally tried every product, prescription, creams, “natural remedies” etc. I’ve tried everything possible. I was so excited to see this product because I think light therapy is great for healing and less hectic than other treatments. I have the Virulite and it is amazing!! I figured why not try Luminance Red because it states it helps with prevention and has a “shorter” heal time. However, I was extremely disappointed with Luminance Red. I just tried it and it did nothing- didn’t take away my pain, still swollen and didn’t help with healing much. When I use the Virulite, I basically go right to the healing stage and avoid the swollen painful blister stage which is the worst. I used this and still had swelling and still had pain. It really did nothing for me and I’m disappointed because it’s so expensive! If you are on the fence- get the Virulite which is a blue light (Can’t see it by eye) and I think it works much much better.
