ANOTHER GREAT DRAWING BOOK BY JAKE SPICER
This book really goes into a lot of detail. I found all this information very valuable. My drawing has improved a lot by reading and following the advice given in this book.

Look elsewhere
Not a comprehensive step-by-step and most seems like filler: unhelpful illustrations such as locations of body hair on an average person or a finger to demonstrate what one possible smudging tool looks like. Example insights that gave me a laugh: Armpit hair, leg hair, arm hair and pubic hair are common to all bodies (202) The head is made up of the face - housing the communicative features - and the cranial mass with its covering of hair. 218 The knee changes its appearance as it bends. 258

I have read a lot of figure drawing and anatomy books. Most of which, I have found dont click for me. This book really took a different approuch to most and has made a real difference on my drawing and approuch the learning to draw people.

I brought this book to develop my drawing skills and I was NOT disappointed. I have many art books and this so far is my favourite. Lots of information regarding various methods. I particularly liked the way of adding volume to a drawing. I used this method for a life class and was told my drawings looked much more “sculpted” than last time. Just that chapter really improved my technique. I have only just got into the other chapters and very impressive. I cannot wait to read the rest much more thoroughly and apply more methods. It’s so worth buying :) I am a VERY happy artist!!
