Why is the refillable pad falling apart?

Obviously due to poor binding or a one off incident.?

What refill cartridge does the pen use, as it is a lovely pen and I’d hate for it to be of no use

Would any A5 notebook fit inside this case, or do you have to buy the refills?

Yes it should do.. with a little working it in, the one that comes with it has a thin cover so would probably be better than an A5 pad with a hard cover. What's great is the A5 pad can be as cheap as you like because the leather holder or cover is absolutely stunning, and wouldn't matter if the A5 pad was a pound, inside the case it'll look great.
