Cloud Native Data Center Networking: Architecture, Protocols, and Tools

Right off the the author makes a decision to not distinguish the different between a frame and a packet, and instead refer to both as "packets". The author even goes out of the way to indicate that there is a difference and that he will not be distinguishing the difference between them. To me this shows that either the author is lazy or maybe doesn't have the credentials they claim to and just don't know the difference themselves.So far the first chapter is going over how layer 2 access switches came to be what they are and how they work. But because every time the word "packet" is mentioned I have to stop and think if the author means a frame or actually a packet. Only on page 10 and this is rather tedious to have to do every other sentence.If I manage to continue through this book I'll update my review if things turn out better.

Very few have the breadth of experience in Enterprise, Service providers, Switching, Routing, all the myriad features and not to mention Multicast that trumps most. Author captured his breadth and depth of experience very well for the benefit of the reader. Reading the book is like getting a ring side view of the evolution on fast forward. Also liked the conversational style of writing that made difficult topics easier on the reader.

best intro into data center networks based on Cumulus NOS.

A lot of basic concepts were poorly described and might baffle the reader. Illustrations and figures were not effectively used to elaborate the concepts and protocols.

This book is everything what a Data Center Network Engineer/Architect would need. I was waiting for this one.I'm just gonna say, Dinesh Dutt (DD) is the best in the business when it comes to DC Networking, best DC Networking Guru out there and it's worth a read, every single chapter the way he has articulated comprehensively.I loved the vendor-neutral approach he has used to explain the core concepts of today's Cloud grade networks. Not only every chapter covers the concepts, but to support the concept, there are some excellent examples to go along with.Thank you DD for this awesome book. Very insightful.

Shows how everything was tied together in BGP/EVPN/VxLAN/Data Centter development.Covers all the topics from topologies to automation. A must read.

I've worked in networking for a long time and in that time have read many IT books, but this book is the one that has given me the most eye opening "oh wow!" moments. It's a fantastic piece of work and I'd recommend it to all medium to expert level networkers.I particularly like the way that the history of each subject area is explained, along with the pitfalls and lessons that have been learnt and therefore the reasons for designing/implementing in the modern way.As they say - everyone learns from their mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others
