Hinds' Feet on High Places: The original and complete allegory with a devotional for women by Darien Cooper

When my brother was struggling with his faith, a coworker gave him this simple allegorical book about Jesus as "The Good Shepherd". Hannah Hurnard writes much like CS Lewis. After my brother finished reading this book, he got down on his knees and sincerely prayed, "Good Shepherd, if You truly exist, I will give you my entire life, if only you make MY feet like "Little Miss Much-Afraid"'s and You allow me to walk on The High Places with You! I don't care what price I must pay, just allow me to walk in the heights with You, Jesus. Amen." One week later, my brother was driving home in a 35mph zone when suddenly a drunk driver hit his car, directly from behind at a speed of 82 mph, paralyzing my dear brother, Jeff, from the neck down, permanently! I'm not at all suggesting this will happen to anyone else! But in God's omniscience, He knew Jeff needed to be in what Jeff called "his cacoon of protection" from a very seriously sinful prior life! Jeff suffered for many months at first as he began to learn how to live as a quadraplegic, but he never once complained. Never! He gave thanks to God for answering his prayer in this way. Jeff went on to graduate Liberty University. Then he went out in his wheelchair-lift van to testify and preach. I know that at least one thousand souls were saved after hearing his testimony and seeing the deep, abiding JOY in his eyes and heart! He changed thousands of lives for the Kingdom of God. Jeff died 15 years later, grateful to God and well satisfied that God did enable Jeff to walk on Hinds Feet in the High Places with his beloved Good Shepherd! Just as Jesus changed Little Miss Much Afraid's crippled feet, Jesus changed Jeff's paralyzed feet into the beautiful feet of those who are allowed to walk in the High Places of God's. Perhaps you're looking for a purpose in this life. Or you may just want to read a good allegory of life in Christ Jesus. Whatever your motive, I am sure anyone of any age will enjoy this delightful classic. And this version adds pages of devotions and things to consider with each chapter. I would give this book 100 stars if I could! This book guarantees to delight!

I read this my senior year of high school and have read it again at least three times since then. I relate so much to Much Afraid, the main character, and I have been so comforted by her struggles and triumphs. This story is a great picture of the life of a follower of the Good Shepherd. Especially if you are in the middle of hard times, this book will speak to your heart! I have even read the illustrated version to my 5th grade daughter and she loved it! Now when things are hard or people are mean, I remind her of Much Afraid and her journey and how the Shepherd was always there when she called. This is one of my favorite books of all time!

I had read this allegory many years ago and just recently rediscovered it. What an absolute joy to read. I greatly urge you to read and enjoy this classic piece of literature that has been life changing for all who turn its pages.

I read this some years ago. After my husband's passed away, I decided to read it again because I knew that Much Afraid was accompanied my Sorrow and Suffering. I asked a couple friends to read with me and we meet weekly to discuss. If you want to understand this journey with God, this book will help you do that. Excellent read. I'm sure it will be read again. It is staying on my reference shelf

I had heard of this book for awhile, then finally read it. It exceeded my expectations. The brief devos added between chapters were insightful. Echoes of Pilgrims Progress, but with a different twist.

The Good Shepherd's message to love, strengthen, and encourage us is beautifully rendered. It is a book of hope and perseverance.

This is my all time favorite Christian book next to the Bible! I love allegory! This story is so well done! I am sure many women can see themselves in this book. I much prefer the original text without the Bible study simply because the Bible studies in the book break up the story too much. It seems every two or three pages their is a Bible study to do. If the publishers would have put one study to sum up each chapter it would have been better.That is the reason I gave it four stars and not five. The Bible studies themselves are great! Darien Cooper does a marvelous job of writing them and making them relevant but there are just so many that to me it ruins the flow of the book.

Relating often with Much Afraid, reminded me once again of how the Lord is always there in every situation, even in the times when you feel he has left you, he is there. Great allegory of our walk with the Lord.

I had high hopes for the book. I didn’t know that the book was written around The Message version of the Bible. Not a version I care for.

Sin embargo el importe (12,07 €) se me ha cargado en la cuenta y no se ha devuelto. Les ruego lo devuelvan o me envíen una explicación o alternativa al respecto. I loved reading this book/ devotional. It outpours truths of Gods love and grace for us as we love out a life choosing to follow Jesus and his ways for us.

The writing in this book is worth reading aloud to your children. Not only will they learn life lessons (f they are listening/really hearing) they will fall in love with the characters that present qualities we all face. The children will fall in love with the story. So will the reader! Enjoy!!

Its an inspriational book that I would highly recommend in fact I have recommended it to a number of people already. I have given it away to encouraage another person and this is the second time I have bought it. I want to read it again, and to share it again as well.
