My wife uses this for work. I'm PC Tech and can tell you that this computer can do almost anything. The almost is "extreme" gaming (heavy on graphics) and you'd probably want to upgrade to a good video card. All that said, the amount of RAM and the fact that it has an "SSD" drive (along with a "standard" drive), makes this a very versatile PC, at a great price, that can handle almost anything.

Is this capable of efficiently running photoshop and lightroom CC out of the box? Not looking to have it do anything other than those tasks.

If it helps, I use GIMP and Corel Paintshop with all its accessories on SSD and it runs smoothly on this HP ED 800... out of the box, no added hardware (except for the monitor of course as it does not come with one).

Does the 16gb 1tb 256ssd model have a dvd-rom, or a cd/dvd that can burn cd's?

It comes with DVD-RW so you can burn/write cd/dvd.

Does this come with a dvd? description states it does but picture does not show the dvd?

I just checked mine that I bought in January 2021 and it has a HP DVD-ROM model: SN108, Which stands for (Digital Versatile Disc - Read-Only Memory). So can only be used for watching DVDs and installing software.
