I needed 2 peep holes for the 2 exterior doors in my home. With 1,000+ listings on Amazon for peep holes, i thought I was going to have to read just as many reviews before I decided which to buy. I knew I didn't want to spend more than $10 each, so that narrowed it down a bit. I finally choose this one (I think it was an Amazon best seller or something similar) but only bought one just to make sure it was what I wanted. It arrived in just a few days and was in perfect condition. No scratches, no dents, no cracks. It unscrews easily into 2 pieces, so you can slide each piece in from either side of your door and screw it back together, and tighten in your door. It states to use a 9/16" drill bit (or spade) on your door to install peep hole in. I didn't have one on hand, but did have a 5/8" spade bit. I used this and it installed easily. The 1/16" difference made little difference. There are even 2 slight notches on one end to help tighten it up in the door. The wide angle does work, and gives you a nice wide view of your porch, or whatever your view might be. I was able to see much more than I expected. The peep hole cover on the inside is a nice touch, although you can not see inside when looking thru peep hole from outside, so like double security for that if it concerns you. No one is seeing inside thru this peep hole. This is an extremely good buy for $8 bucks. For $8, you get piece of mind when you're able to know who's knocking on your door late at night BEFORE you open your door. For me, that's an awesome deal. I just ordered the second one for my back door. If a little more security is what you're looking for, and you can't afford one of the new video door bells, and can't see who's knocking without opening your door, this should be a must for you.

I installed this peephole in my metal garage door so I can see what's going on in my driveway/street without having to run inside and look out the window. It took about 5 minutes to install. I happened to already have a step drill bit that included the somewhat odd size required (my DeWalt bit set doesn't go up that big). The peephole has a nice angle of view and is crisp and clear. It looks discreet, and I like the little rotating cover so there won't be a point of light when viewed from the street. I have two garage doors, so I am considering getting another one for the other side of the garage.

It does give a wide view, but to me it's a little too blurry in the middle. Tried a different one after this that was clearer but had less view and decided to go back to this one. Sort of a toss-up.

I bought this to replace a peep-hole camera. It was very fancy: it had a motion sensor that took pictures of everyone who came anywhere near my door. Zillions of pictures of the top of my head as I unlocked the door! It burned through batteries so fast that it almost never worked -- the batteries were always dead. This viewer cost less than 10% as much and it ALWAYS works. And although I don't really need it, I like the little privacy closure.In response to other comments about the prominence of the brand name printed on that closure, I can see that it could be a problem with a shiny viewer -- it would stand out. I bought the antique bronze version and the brand name is practically invisible.
