plug your ears
My 3 year old absolutely loves this toy. She got it for Christmas and had to take a bath right away. My two 12 year olds and 14 year old decided they had to help her with her bath. Needless to say, the older girls had so much fun creating music and played several of the songs together. They even had to put on a show. It is very educational to teach music and sounds. Now the older girls fight over who gets to take a bath with the 3 year old and play with her in the tub. The reason to plug your ears? My 3 year old is constantly playing the flutes, in and out of the tub. Even though she doesn't have water in them when they are out of the tub, that doesn't stop her from walking around the house tooting her horns. The good... so many different notes that can be created by adding and removing the water. Very easy for small children to use. Comes with coated music cards that will stick to the tub when wet. Great learning tool. All my girls age 3-14 love it and have fun. The bad... make sure you teach your child to keep the flute tipped down. If they tip it up, they get flooded from the water flowing out. The foam stand is cheap and doesn't work the greatest. Parts of the stickers for the letters were peeled when I took it out of the box. I had to hot glue some of the corners and sides down. Overall, my daughter is happy, so I am happy. Just have to get some ear plugs! :)

Great product for budding musicians...
This is actually the second time my husband and I have purchased this item. The first time we purchased it was for my step-son several years ago. The quality appears the same in this most recent purchase, which is for my daughter. The basic premise is simple - fill the flutes with water to desired level (it tells you the pitch) and when you blow into the flute, it produces the desired pitch. These are a long way from those little water filled bird whistles from when I was a kid. For any kid who loves music or just to make noise, these are a great water toy, and a welcome diversion from splashing or squirting toys.

ALEX Toys Bathtime Fun Water Flutes
I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 5 year old, wanting to give her something new to play with in the bathtub. While she loved the idea of a flute (period, not just in the bathtub), she wasn't so crazy about the idea of having to fill each flute with the precise amount of water required to play the notes on the music sheets. Even when I did the filling for her, she got too frustrated trying to play the very easy songs on the sheets. I think in a year or so it might be more interesting for her, but for now it's just a fun and noisy bath toy. While the bottom of the flutes does unscrew to let water in/out, it does not remove completely. While this is in one way a good thing - the bottom will never get lost, I also see it as a bad thing because you can never really clean inside of the flutes and given that it's a bathtub toy I anticipate that mold will start to grow at some point. A minor detail, but one to consider if you're a stickler for keeping the bath toys super clean. I loved that they laminated the music sheets, and all you have to do is get them wet and stick them to the wall in the tub - a very clever idea on their part. Overall a very fun and cute gift for both boys and girls of all ages - the full range of fun will be most enjoyed by older kids.

Experiential learning
My niece and nephew love to take a bath in my big tub! New toys are a plus. This one is great for the range of ages 4-7. It has color coded music to follow that is a great learning opportunity. The 4 year old needed help to fill each flute to the specific level for the music. Music sticks to the side of the tub. Playing with the flutes without the music may be the greatest learning opportunity because of the experience of changing the water through play and discovering the different tones made. Fun and can be LOUD:)

Nice idea - needs tweeking
Cute toy and idea. However, the foam flute holder does NOT work well. With water in them making them heavier and a wet/slippery foam, the flutes do not stay in place. They slip down and/or out of the foam holder all together. Still, my 2 year old enjoys using them one at a time. As she gets older, it would be neat to be able to use the music cards to play a song...IF the flutes could stay in place. Educationally, even my 2 year old realizes they sound different with various levels of water in each flute. She'll add water, remove it, etc. to see how the sound changes. A nice idea would be to add a edge so it's more evident to younger ages where their mouth should stop in order to blow into the flutes. It's more difficult for a younger child to know they can't cover the top hole or the sound won't come out. A stronger holder, and the lip alteration would simply expand the target age group.

This is the best toy ever--why don't they market it for adults
This is the best toy ever--why don't they market it for adults?! My husband and I like playing with this at least as much as our 20-month-old daughter. I love that it's easy to use and fun to play with. If I had to do it again, I'd probably just buy the single one. I understand that the concept of buying five at once is so you can play a whole range of notes. We're not that coordinated, though. The tones are really nice and we have fun with them. We hear the tooting of the flutes from the bathroom when we leave for a sec during bathtime. If your little one likes musical instruments then this is a fun addition to the out-of-the-bath instruments that are readily available. (Plus, you can actually use this out of the bath, too. No reason why you can't add some water from the sink!)

Great for multiple ages!
I love these because my kids love them - they're a bit loud for me! :-) The concept is great - fill water in each flute to different levels to make the different notes - although I doubt the musical accuracy. It comes with some (mostly) waterproof "sheet music" for the kids to follow along and play songs and gives them some practice making music and having fun in the bath. Get yourself a nice set of earplugs and let kids of multiple ages have a great time playing with these flutes!

This was such a fun bye Iโm so glad that I bought this for my younger daughters for bathtime. It lasted a long time, it was easy to clean and it was hours of fun for them. We had no difficulties and we were very happy with it I would recommend buying this for your children or as a gift.

Such a fun toy. My kids love these (from young to old). Be prepared for lots of flute music though lol! The bottoms twist open but still remain attached, so the flutes can drain and dry which is nice.

Bought these for our granddaughter she loves her bath time and we are hoping she will learn a tune or two.

My son loves it, perfect for the bath time, and really a nice upgrade to the old water whistle I used to have as a kid. Nice addition is that my older kids get to understand how a note is built based on space in the cylinder. Feels sturdy so it should not break anytime soon. Nice touch to have something to hold them together, prevents clutter in the bathroom as well

Nothing wrong with the product itself but they actually make very annoying shrill noises in the hands of smaller children who are in capable of reading the sheet music. I doubt the children who are able to follow along in a more advanced we are likely to be playing with toys in the bathtub.
