Uncompromising Quality and Reliability
The Morakniv Garberg Survival Stainless Steel knife is a true testament to exceptional craftsmanship and reliability. This knife has become my go-to tool for outdoor adventures and survival situations. The quality of the Garberg Survival is outstanding. The stainless steel blade is exceptionally sharp and holds its edge remarkably well, even after prolonged use. Its full tang construction provides unmatched strength and durability, making it capable of handling demanding tasks with ease. One of the standout features of this knife is its versatility. The blade's multi-functionality allows for various outdoor applications, from campfire cooking and bushcrafting to carving and survival tasks. The sturdy handle offers a comfortable grip and feels secure in hand, even during intense and wet conditions. I appreciate the thoughtful design elements incorporated into the Garberg Survival. The knife comes with a robust, MOLLE-compatible sheath, ensuring convenient and safe storage. The spine of the blade is specifically designed for striking a fire starter, making fire ignition a breeze in any situation. Whether you're a seasoned outdoorsman or an occasional adventurer, the Morakniv Garberg Survival Stainless Steel knife is an invaluable tool. Its uncompromising quality, versatility, and reliable performance make it a must-have for anyone seeking a trustworthy companion in the great outdoors.

Flagship Mora knife, simple but flawless execution
Morakniv makes the best inexpensive knives in the world. Their entire product range is excellent quality for very low prices. I’ve purchased literally dozens of Moras and this model is (not surprisingly as their flagship) the best they produce. At first inspection you’d mistake it for a slightly nicer Mora, but when you pick it up and feel the weight and heather difference becomes apparent. For one, it’s the only knife they make using 14C28N steel; all other models use either 12C27, 13C26, or UHB20C. Google these steels, but simply put the 14C28N is a much improved Swedish steel over these others and is one of the toughest steels available. It includes both Chromium and Nitrogen in the steel which provide exceptional corrosion resistance. Handle is a tough molded material, very grippy, and the tang extends fully throughout. The only negative to the handle (but common to most Moras) is the lack of a finger guard to prevent your finger from sliding forward onto the blade. The sheath holds the knife with a secure “thunk” as it slides in. Overall, taken as a total package, the knife and sheath are a simple work of art that combines form and functionality seamlessly. At the common selling price of $50-75, it’s an unbeatable value for a true workhorse outdoor knife.

Great knife, not as cheap as other Moras, but still a good value in my opinion.
It’s a hefty, well machined, factory sharp blade with a decent sheath, high quality steel, a full tang and a bit of the tang is exposed metal on the pommel end for bashing things what need to be bashed; perhaps windows in an emergency. The spine and pommel both can be used to strike ferro rods and the sheath can be secured in many ways to suit your needs. Can’t ask for much more out of a survival knife, and the knife itself can be easily customized to your needs and comfort It’s a simple, handsome blade and it feels like it would stand the test of time easily. In my opinion it’s worth the money, even if other great Mora knives can be found much cheaper, this knife is seriously robust.

Well Made and Great Value
There are a crazy number of survival/bushcraft knives out there. The price range is equally crazy from $20 to $1000. Understand what you're going use it for(mostly for simple cutting tasks) and that will help you decide what and how much to spend. The Mora Garberg is a solid well made bush knife that is very well priced. Hard to ever go wrong with this knife.

Excellent choice
If you are deciding between the garberg and the companion, I would say the garberg if you plan on batoning with it. It is a little bit larger than the companion. Both are excellent knives and you cannot go wrong. I have a collection of knives that all have their strengths and weaknesses but the garberg seems to be the one I use the most. I just really like how it feels, the cutting power, the size and shape, the weight, the simplicity and the way the spine shaves off tree bark. Excellent knife!

Best slice for you buck!
Excellent heavy duty robust sharp as heck knife. Handle is plastic but comfortable. Plastic sheath is garbage so get the leather option. Knife best used for carving wood or heavy duty cutting. Not so much for slicing tomatoes. I highly recommend this knife. It is great! I added talon grip tape to the sides of handle for awesome traction.

Good tool, but maybe a little overpriced.
Update: We’ll, now my beloved Joker blades have gone up in price, quite significantly in many cases, and the SS Garberg is below $55! It’s definitely worth it at this price IMHO. Read the reviews and product description and decide if you want the basic, somewhat crude features of the Garberg or something a little more expensive but with a little more finesse. Long review. If you’re pressed for time (or have the patience or reading skills of a second grader), skip to the end. I have a few Garbergs and lots of Moras (I give them away all the time). The Garberg is a great knife, well finished and sturdy. All mine (stainless and carbon) have come with sharp edges and even grinds. Functionally, I have no complaints with this knife. At first I questioned why others think it’s overpriced. Sure, you can get their other models for under $50, most under $20, some under $10. I used to agree with others, “Hey, it’s better steel, thicker, more sturdy, and you can even get more sheath options!” Well… Yes, it’s thicker steel, but the increase in material doesn’t really justify such an increase in price. Yes, it’s full tang. See above. Same for it being longer. (Most of the cost is in manufacturing work, company income, marketing and logistics of distribution plus retail.) Yes, you finally have a leather sheath option. But it costs more. Marginally. Definitely worth it (if you want leather). But more. The tactical/molle version of the plastic is innovative but, again, maybe a little overpriced. It’s a great knife. But it’s still just a basic tool with a basic grind, pretty basic (but admittedly good) steel, basic thermorun handle in a basic, typically “Mora” plastic sheath. You may not know this, but quite a bit of manufacturing cost is in the handle and sheath of a knife, especially when using basic steel. Even mass produced micarta handle scales are much more expensive than plastic. Scandinavian cutlery companies kill two birds with one stone with these types of handles: 1) protect the hand from the cold steel on protruding tang edges in subarctic environments in winter and 2) save a boatload of cash. Ask Fallkniven. Cheap handle scales and sheaths are also the biggest complaint about Kabar’s Becker series. They are saving a ton, and then sell you expensive micarta scales afterwards. But hey, at least you have the option. With the Garberg, you don’t. Back to the steel. I find it’s great for scandi grinds (I know, I know, the Garberg doesn’t have a true scandi grind, yada yada yada - more on that in a minute). This is a great steel for this style of grind (full scandi). If you’ve sharpened a scandi knife, a true scandi, you know how much steel you need to remove. We’re not talking touch-up, we’re talking full resharpening or even reprofiling. Try that with a super steel. See you in 6 months. This steel is not bad for a stainless in this regard. Why do you think custom knifemakers use O1 or basic carbon steel on their scandi models? Cheap steel for a $400+ knife? And you have to wait for over a year? There’s a reason. But I digress. This steel works for this knife. Why not a true scandi grind for the Garberg? This is somewhat of a beginner’s tool. Many people are purchasing it for rougher use and don’t have a lot of experience with using a scandi grind for this purpose (I know I’m heavily generalizing, but take the manufacturer’s perspective). The microbevel gives the knife a significantly stronger edge, albeit less capable working with wood. True scandi grinds eat wood, all other things being equal. This steel is relatively a good balance of ease of sharpening, edge-holding and corrosion resistance. Which means you can reprofile it to a true scandi grind fairly easily compared to many other stainless steels. So, in conclusion, it’s a great knife. When you compare what’s out there from other reputable companies (not chicom), though, there’s some fierce competition! Joker out of Spain produces some amazing tools in this price range, using the same or similar steels with really nice higher end hand-formed scales in a choice of micarta colors and hardwoods, with different grind choices as well, on a number of models. Check it all out. For really cold temperatures, you may want a fully wrapped handle on your full tang. If so, then this is an excellent choice. At $50-60 this would be more recommended. Right now, at current prices, I think a choice from someone like Joker is a better one for most people. YMMV. Hope this helps!

If I can only have 1 knife, this would be it.
I have never owned a more perfect knife. I’m glad I got it in stainless steel. The edge geometry is literally perfect (there is a micro bevel that we can do without) and I have never seen such precision and symmetry! I’m going to try and keep this knife forever.

Tadellos
Das bekannte Messer hat mich innerhalb weniger Augenblicke überzeugt. In jeder Hinsicht.
