I gave this as a little congrats gift when my brother got engaged. It's a cute concept, doesn't take itself too seriously, but provides heads-up style info for what goes into planning a wedding. When I got married and was planning my wedding, my husband would weigh in on decisions without looking at what went into the planning and it drove me nuts. I figured I'd save my brother's fiance the grief and get him a guide to help him understand what all she's contending with in the planning. It has nice tips on what's expected from the males in a traditional wedding. It's a smallish book, not overwhelming looking, and has enough of a touch of humor to draw a guy in who is otherwise not at all interested in event planning or worrying about fussy traditions. Makes a nice gift!

Gave this as a gift to my fiance and he found it to be funny. I read through some of it before and there is actually some great advice and thinking points in there...even the section of "are you sure you want to do this." It had humour too. I enjoyed reading from the part warning about how your bride may seem a little crazy but the woman you proposed to will return haha. I bought this used so had a crease in the cover but no big deal for the price paid. Fun gift from mother or father of the groom (or bride) or from his groomsmen or friends.

I had originally seen this book at a small gift shop in Faneuil Hall in downtown Boston and I stayed in the store reading it long enough to get all sorts of nasty looks from the girl at the counter. Rather than pay the jacked-up tourist trap price to buy the book I came to Amazon and saved almost 75%. This book is a quick read and despite some hokey graphics and charts it does provide valuable information on all topics from selecting a ring to asking her father's permission to wedding night sex. This was especially helpful for me as I had not been to a wedding rehearsal prior to my own wedding and I was the first of my friends to get engaged so I didn't have any expectations/knowledge of what to expect. Buy this book for yourself and get the bride instruction manual for your wife and then read them both to gain valulable knowledge and also to earn some brownie points for when she eventually yells at you for not caring enough about the font color on the placecards.

There's not many books out there for the guys when it comes to weddings. This book has humor, to keep you guys reading. It's not boring with tons of wedding nitty-gritty details. Definitely the first, and only, book that I was able to convince my guy to read about weddings. And for the ladies, there's a great counterpart to this book called The Bride Instructional Manual: How to Survive and Possibly Even Enjoy the Biggest Day in Your Life (Instruction Manual). I purchased both and we read them both together. The only thing I really didn't care for (nor did my fiance) was that it insists, several times, that the bride is always right... which, as much as the bride DOES want to be always right, it's not true.

I purchased this for my son to prepare for his wedding day. He keeps quoting parts of the book, and I can hear him chuckling when reading it. These are all good things in my book!

This is a great book. It's funny, so it can be a gag gift, but it also has some helpful information. I got it for my fiance and he's been dutifully reading it and seemingly enjoying it. He seems to be particularly interested in the section about who is this financee and what happened to the woman I love. I like the part where it tells him that his finacee is always right. The one drawback...the opening section is on proposing, and it would have been a bit forward to give it to him before he proposed.

Disclaimer: I'm the bride, not the groom. That said, I bought this for my fiance so that he could get a handle on what was going on with this wedding stuff without trying to get him to read any of the "real" wedding planning books currently littering our house because we both knew that wasn't going to happen. This book is well written and funny. It's a quick read, about an hour, with silly illustrations that don't really add much but they're cute. However, as far as providing any useful advice, it doesn't. It pretty much just says to do whatever the bride wants and wait for things to be over. It does make an attempt to go over all the sources of stress for the bride and explain why she's suddenly irrational, but what I was really hoping for was more of a guide to help my fiance feel like he COULD be involved in the planning and that his opinions were also important to this process. This was not that book. Overview: A cute engagement gift for a guy in your life but don't expect it to make him any more useful to the wedding planning process.

Bought this book as a gift for my finance and he (and his family) loved it. It gave us all a great laugh. The information is very useful and hilariously written. I'll be buying the other guides in this series for sure.

Purchased for my future Son-In-Law. A few helpful tips for a man who is heading toward a wedding/celebration. Only time will tell if he finds it useful. After a quick glance - it looks like it would be useful.

We got this for a freind who is getting married and it was a great laugh! It has some really great parts in it, there are also some usefull stuff in there for education (it helps unravel our female traditions and bridezilla tendencies) All together a fun read!
