Bought this item due to its popularity, good reviews, and its cost. Was a bit of a stab in the dark. But, I really am impressed with its ease of use and performance. With regards to the charging lights, there's only 4 different light sequences which keep it nice and easy to understand. Keeps my battery charged full throughout the winter evenings. Plus, you can keep it connected the whole time and just leave it, as it keeps the battery at 100% without overcharging it. A nice, compact bit of kit. Was quite surprised with how small it is, but it packs quite a good punch. Another cool thing I like, is that you can remove the clamps from the wires, and then just directly screw the metal rings onto the battery and leave it on. So when you want to charge, just plug it into the plastic socket at the other end of the wire. Makes it so much simpler to use. Overall, really happy. Been recommending to all my biker friends.

Had to send the first charger back as it was defective, displaying red and green flashing LEDs alternately, before shutting down after a few minutes. The item had arrived unsealed and with tears to the packaging so it seems as it had been returned as defective before being sent out to me. The replacement arrived the next day, properly sealed, and I set it up in my camper. It worked exactly as it should and is now keeping the starting battery topped up.

Battery on my caravan had dropped over winter slightly and hadn't got enough charge to use the motor mover. Put the battery on charge for 48hrs and it was fully charged. Great bit of kit would recommend

Brilliant. It works perfectly for Jaguar XF batteries. It did take 24 hours to charge but I’ve not had any problems since.

This arrived in 24hrs - seller is to notch 5 star business. This is my 4th Genius - they are superb. Cannot fault quality and ease of use. 10/10

Due to a hospital procedure i was unable to drive for 6 weeks so my car had been parked up over Christmas and New Year. I started the car a couple of times over 2 weeks and it started ok. Third time it took a few turns to get going and a week or later a message appeared on the dash saying the battery had discharged and if the car wouldn't start I should contact my local service partner etc. Thankfully the car started. Checked the price of a new new battery just in case and after the initial shock had worn off I thought I should buy a trickle charger which would be a tenth of the price of a new battery and always handy to have. Looked on Amazon and saw this one. It had a good rating and looked very slick and could charge and maintain all battery types and wasn't going to break the bank. It arrived and the packaging is very professional and impressive. I read the instructions carefully as I'm not a mechanic or battery expert. The instructions contained a table stating approximate charging times for various battery sizes. The Noco Genius 1 which i had bought only had charging times for batteries up to 30Ah. My car's battery is 90Ah. Hmmm, this might take a while i thought. Connected the charger on Friday afternoon. Flashing red light came on signalling <75% charge. Red light stayed on until Sunday morning when it turned flashing green signalling >75% charge. Stayed flashing green until I took it off Monday afternoon by which stage I had read enough reviews on Amazon to confirm my suspicions that I had bought too small a charger. The blurb on Amazon says this is a suitable for cars. The only way it might work for a car is for a classic car parked in a garage all year and needs its battery topped up, or if you want to give your car battery a top up coming into winter. I seriously doubt there are many cars out there on today's roads with a 30Ah battery in them. If you click on the charger on the Amazon page it goes to the page showing the other Genius chargers. If you scroll way down to the bottom of the page it gives you a comparison table showing the charger recommended for your battery size. I think this critical information should be more easily seen and presented. Admittedly I should have checked it out more thoroughly but the blurb at the top of the page makes it seem to be the ideal charger. Reading the reviews a common thread is that it's too small to charge a car battery. It might maintain one but if your battery is flat and you need it charged in a hurry, this ain't the charger for you. It seems to work well for motorbikes, scooters, quads and boats etc but not for cars, and I think to suggest this in the marketing blurb is a bit unfair. I returned the item and got a refund and bought the Optimate 5 one everybody was recommending. It charged the car battery overnight, but admittedly it wasn't discharged then to be fair. For context, my lawn mower has a 22Ah battery so that gives you an idea of the type of charger this is. Also, I noticed in my local Halfords branch they have a stand advertising these Noco Genius chargers, and the stand clearly states what size of battery each charger is suited to. Probably best to walk (or get someone to give you a lift) down there and get a chat to one of the Halfords guys who will keep you right. Bottom line - It's excellently made and packaged but the blurb on here is misleading.

I ordered 5 units, but only 2 came in sealed packaging. One was used before, so it looked like a return. Other than that they all work fine.
