After the publication of his best-selling book Power Animals, many people inquired about the meaning of spirit animals that were not contained in that work. In Animal Spirit Guides , Dr. Farmer provides concise, relevant details about the significance of more than 200 animals that may come to you in physical or symbolic form as guides and teachers. With each animal listed, you’ll find general meanings of the visitation; practical ways that they can help you as spirit guides; and how, as your power animal, they reflect characteristics that you possess. You’ll also find a "whom-to-call-on" section that will tell you which animal spirit guide to call on for any specific purpose. Review: Timely For Some of the Sleeptime Dreams I’ve - The information in this kindlebook Animal Spirit Guides: An Easy To Use Handbook For Indentifying and Understanding Your Power Animals and Spirit Helpers by Steven D Farmer PH.D has come to my awareness at a good time especially because of some colorful animals I have seen in some mystical andor brightly colored vibrant sleeptime dreams. The author features a wide mix of animals ranging from cardinals, owls, opossums, bee, cats, blue jays, rabbits, eagles etc. Animals in my sleeptime dreams are usually far from common for me although since March I have had an increase in far from usual animal sightings at strange times in my waking life and more than one sleeptime dream less than two weeks ago that is less than usual for me. However for the purposes of my open minded supporters I will at least share that I had one sleeptime dream where I spotted some giant live brown looking bear that appeared to be a part of some stage showcase with what appeared to be with some other animals during some snow season near an outdoor park close by where my husband and I currently live (which is even stranger itself because as far as I know there is no such bear that is native to the region where my husband and I currently live) though it was clear as day that this gigantic bear was looking in my direction for some reason in a walk path that I frequently use for my fitness walks, have used frequently to go to work during my most recent employment etc. Even with this bear briefly having me in its eye sights, I fortunately succeeded in running away from this brown bear in my sleeptime dream because I was easily at least 100 yards or more from this bear a far away enough distance to have time to successfully run away from it. Still, fortunately giant bear sleeptime dreams are unusual for me and having a kindlebook like Animal Spirit Guides by Steven D. Farmer PH.D helps me to further decode strange sleeptime dreams involving animals in the case of the bear and other far from normal animal sightings I would prefer to avoid disclosing for good reasons. Less than 4 weeks ago I also had an interesting sleeptime dream involving some brightly colored rabbit and some animal that looked to be either a giant/gigantic bird or eagle with very large eyes though because it was in some type of mystical looking world that was strange even by my standards it is best to leave well enough alone and avoid disclosing further details of that dream. Review: Concise and well referenced. - Excellent guide to the spiritual meaning associated with animals. It appears more in keeping with some of the ancient and traditional Native American meanings I've seen, and the author includes quite a few resources which is refreshing. It's concise and offers insights as to how various animals might reflect characteristics that either you possess or of the particular situation which is often why they are drawn to you or you to them, be that in actual life or a dream or vision. In addition to an alphabetical listing of 200 animals you'll find a fairly in-depth cross reference at the back of the book listing which animals represent different characteristics and meanings. So if you wanted to know which animals represented something like abundance, or insight, the animals with these characteristics are listed, and from there you can look up each specific animal to better define them to the situation. This is a well organized, insightful and easy to read book.

A Resourceful Guide for Working with Animal Spirit Guides
In Animal Spirit Guides, the author shares the possible meanings of encountering a specific animal, when you may want to call the animal, and what you may traits the power animal may encourage within you, in terms of your thinking process, emotions, and behavior. In the introduction to the book he shares the tips on how to use the information in this book, how to honor your guides and animals, how you may get the messages from spirit guides (through visual, auditory, kinesthetic or cognitive channels), how to interpret and understand the messages you receive. In the first part of the book, the author covers around 230 different animals. In the second part of the book, you'll find tips on what power animal you may want to call to help you in particular situation. Here you'll find animals sorted by those that may help you when you need to experience more abundance, or greater self acceptance, or new ideas and possibilities, when you need to take action, or to become more flexible, what animals may help you with different kinds of healing, with creative expression, with learning different things, with expanding awareness of different realities, communication skills, conflict resolution, detachment, releasing suppressed emotions, and this extensive list goes on. This quite resourceful book ends with the Guided Meditation Journey, and additional resources and websites for further exploration.

Excellent, yet...
This book is an excellent resource for power animals. Just about all the animals you can think of, and a few you never knew existed, are listed with these things in mind: descriptions of the Power Animal's potential reasons for manifesting in your life, when to call upon it, and what it means if it manifests for you as your "permanent" power animal. HOWEVER, the second power animal I met on my Journey, the Roc/Thunderbird/ Phoenix, was not listed under any form. Mr. Farmer had three different kinds of bears (black, brown/grizzly, and polar) a whole slew of birds, and others I'd never considered before to be a power animal (I.e., prairie dog). Yet, this book was weak in the visualization/ Journey instruction department. I do recommend Farmer's other title Power Animals for this, however. It's clear these books are a pair. That's why I ended up giving it ****. Both are written well, organized well, linked well, and fulfill their stated purpose. If you're interested in Power Animals, get them!

Exceptionally thorough, informative and Fun
I was introduced to this book by a friend who does extensive work with healing animals. I appreciate the illustrations, the succinct information about what each animal symbolizes to me personally and how I can apply that to my everyday life. I have purchased this book in paperback and kindle form so I always have it handy for quick reference. I have also gifted it to some of my animal loving friends. If this review is too simplistic, please do yourself a favor and get a sample of it to get a better idea of what I’m saying.

Good Analytical Approach
If you are looking for a guide to animal energy, I'd say this is it. It contains some animals that I thought, "There is no way that's in there." It is set up in alphabetical order so everything is easy to find. Each animal is pictured. Then it says, "If X shows up it means..." Then it tells you to call on X when you need Z." Finally it speaks about what energy the animal brings to you if it is your spirit animal. The other option is to simply ask the animal what it is bringing to you. I find that your intuition is pretty wise. Sometimes what I've gotten coincides with the book, sometimes not. When there is a difference, I trust my intuition. Anyway, the back has another quick list. If you need X, you can search that way. For example, if you need courage you can search for courage and there will be a list of animals that can help you.

Great book for Identifying animal spirits in your life.
I took a class on animal speak given at a local mystic shop in my area and that is what got me interested in figuring out my spirit guide. They used Ted Anderson’s Animal Speak book and that book is VERY indepth. Here Stephen takes a less indepth look at each animal, but it’s just as informative. Less information is sometime better than WAY to much where you can’t figure out why you’re reading that information in the first place. I like to combine the two to get a total picture. Stephen takes a different approach to finding your animal guides and why they come and go. Not that I agree completely with some of his reasons. I’ve had some of my guides show up as really old only to die before me and emerge as a young version. I’m told this is rare, but it’s better than them just leaving from boredom. While on vacation I find this book helpful when animals cross my path while hiking in the woods or hanging around my campsite/cabin.

Interesting and insightful
The book was delivered quickly to me in perfect condition and I have ordered it several times. I have given it away to so many people because I believe the content of this book is not only interesting, but it also seems to be important.

Amazing book

great book
I really like this book it contains a lot of information about each animal and many different animals in truth perhaps would been nicer to have a little more depth but it does cover the basics of each animal and their meanings. So if this is something that interests you it is a great reference to have.

UTTERLY AMAZING!!!
Having strange or heavy dreams in a place like Forks is nothing compared to what happens when you're awake! But often I have trouble interpreting dreams that feel like signs. For example, just before I met Edward I had dreams about death, rebirth and wolves.....EXACTLY! So I purchsed this book about a week ago, it looks friendly to the layman and easy to use, it's amazing. A few nights ago I dreamt of horses, a ranch of horses, I'm stood not far watching them run free when a character in my dream rides up to see me on a beautiful steed. As I woke that morning I had the feeling I had to remember the dream. I looked up the reference in the book and low and behold a rather accurate forboding. 'You're about to embark on an unexpected adventure and will have to move very quickly once it's initiated. It's time to free yourself from those physically and emotionally constricting aspects of your life. You need to call upon reserves of stamina and strength to get you through this ordeal. You're much more powerful than you think you are. This situation requires strong warrior energy, balanced with sensitivity, patience and compassion. Teamwork with your family, friends or community is important right now. You're very well protected from any negative or harsh psychic attacks, you're being called to investigate other spiritual realms and dimensions through meditation, a vision quest or shamanic journeying.' It may not mean a whole lot on a review page of a website but what's happening to me right now (in real life by the way and not my pen name character) is two steps away from something out of Twilight (pick any scene you want) and it's all my own fault. I opened this can of whoey by being spiritualy curious, reading related books, talking to people about their beliefs and relationship to God/Gaia/The Source and now 'IT'S' gunning for me til my last chapter. I think this book may just save my curly bacon, it may just save yours. If your looking for your spiritual animal/totem (I followed my chinese birth year and looked at the Snake...spot on!), interpreting dreams or needing guidence from an animal spirit this book is for you. It's beautifully done easy to use. Watch this space is all I have to say for the coming weeks, if you don't hear from me again you know my Twilight has turned into Paranormal Activity or perhaps a scene from The Fourth Kind!
