What does impact resistant core mean? Is there any rubber in the center area of the phone cover?

Not really sure what it means, but I do know that the back of the case is a hard (possibly fiberglass infused) plastic with a softer rubber liner, and edges for gripping the phone. I've had various UAG models, designs and colours on my S10 Plus, and the phone is as mint as the day I got it.
