Ideal Industries R158002 VDV II Plus Network Tester

I am a low volt cable guy, with techs who work for me. Each one of my techs carry this or the VDV pro. We us it for every cable we install and terminate. It tells us the length of what we installed, for billing purposes. It tells us the pass or fail of the cable. We also use it to troubleshoot facilities where we have to test, identify, or verify a cable. It allows us to know if the cable is in a switch and then to make that switch port link light blink at a slow enough rate to easily identify the port the cable is on. Well built, and the additional 12 identification remotes are worth their weight in gold, when working with multiple cables at a facility.

I used this exact tester at work for several years and it was everything I needed in a network tester. I would recommend this device to any IT department that needs a small tester for basic connection troubleshooting.

This tester saved the day when running cable to our new addition at church. Our old tester required having both ends attached to the tester, and still didn't pinpoint where the fault was. We were nervous about the unknown brand, but decided to take a risk to save several hundred dollars. We saved hours of work (and cable ends). This showed us exactly where the fault was and we were able to fix it easily. Awesome product!

Def. More accurate than the chinese brands.. but i would recommend paying a bit extra for the one that can perform TDR test.

Great tool for anyone in the networking business. It helped me resolve a wiring nightmare at a client. Wiring on an inherited network was bad enough to be detected by this tester but good enough to fool anyone who didn't bother to test before connecting critical business printers to the network.

We switched to these as a mid range tester for our techs and they work great. Very reliable so far and lots of functionality vs older models.

Works great. Cable length estimation is hit and miss. Cable identification with conjunction 158050 identification ends save a lot of time.

Gibt's nichts zu meckern .macht seinen Job

This replaces an older model that I have been using for over 10 years (lost it). It was a bit more expensive than I hope for, but the features make up for that. Very fast, and the fact it calculates the distance of the cable makes it so much easier to locate breaks or opens. Feels very sturdy as well.

Facendone un uso professionale , questo modello di fatto non ha un grande utilizzo. Fatta eccezione per la lunghezza della linea, che tra l'alto non è molto precisa, fa bene il controllo delle coppie su cavo LAN. Peccato che un tester da 20 Euro lo fa uguale. Le plastiche non sono di elevata qualità. Prezzo elevato che non giustifica il prodotto.

Decent cable tester but a bit overpriced here. Available much cheaper elsewhere but we had a bit of a desperate need. Unit is simple to use and works exactly as it should. Would recommend.

Sicherlich, es gibt Tester für mehrere tsd. Euro, aber brauch ich die? Nein, ich brauch ein Gerät, das mir zeigt welche Adern vertauscht sind und/ oder irgendwo ein Kurzschluss ist. Wenn mir dann auch noch die Kabellänge angezeigt wird, ist das Top. Der VDV II PLUS meldet zusätzlich, wenn das Kabel irgendwo unterbrochen ist und damit ist meine Wunschliste zu 99% abgearbeitet. Das letzte ist nur noch die Möglichkeit, mehrere Dosen/Jacks gleichzeitig zu testen, ohne permanent hin und her rennen zu müssen. Genau das kann der VDV auch. Es gibt ein RJ45 Kit und ein Remote Kit (ersteres misst nur Durchgang, das zweite auch Länge etc.) Damit erfüllt der VDV II PLUS alles was ich brauche. Das Gerät ist leicht und mit dem großen Display sehr gut lesbar. Die Bedienung ist schnell klar und eine gute Anleitung in Deutsch ist dabei. Zusätzlich gibt es eine Top Webseite (mit Videoanleitungen) und einen Adresse in München, mit sehr freundlichen Mitarbeitern, die auch die letzte Frage vor dem Kauf noch geklärt haben (Unterschied der Kit's s.o.). Das Gerät kommt mit einer Tasche, Kabeln, Adaptern und Batterie. Es ist noch genug Platz für die Kit's und den Preis finde ich absolut angemessen.
