I usually read the negative (1 & 2 star) reviews first and several people moaned about the noise the hat makes. All I can say is that they must have super senstive hearing because, whilst I could hear the slight crinkly noise, which I assume is made by the waterproof/breathable layer, it wasn't obvious or bothersome at all, and only then when you were putting the thing on. The hat is warm and well made and a bargain at what I paid on here for it (£17.50). I have a large-ish head at 61cm circumference but followed other people's advice and went for the L-XL rather than the largest one and it fits perfectly. I'm off with it for a spot of winter twitching!

I bought the Sealskinz beanie hat because my ears were tired of feeling like frozen peas every winter. Let me tell you, this hat is so warm and waterproof, I’m convinced it was knitted by a team of highly skilled otters. I wore it in a downpour and my head stayed drier than my sense of humor. Stylish enough for the city, tough enough for the wild, and apparently, it even makes me look 10% more outdoorsy (according to my mum). If you want to keep your noggin toasty and dry, and maybe even attract a few admiring glances from passing ducks, this is the hat for you!

This is a very good quality hat. It is a very thick material and the sizing seems accurate. The price was reasonable for this apparently older version but I wouldn’t have paid the increased price for the newer version. I find that it’s very warm to wear so is only suitable for the very cold weather but everyone is different.

Exremely warm, very well made, and waterproof. Fits well around my head, but is slightly too long on top. Its not a major issue though. Also the cuff is stitched into position. Im not sure if these are meant to be removed (are they there for displaying on the hook?) or whether this is a design feature to hold the cuff in place?

I ordered this in July and haven’t yet used it because it’s a winter hat. That said, it’s warm and comfortable, even with my big head, and will be perfect for bass fishing in the winter. It does make a weird rustling noise, almost like there’s paper in it - but once it’s on it’s fine. Well worth the money.

Had to return this - there's no way this could be accurately sized 'Large'. My bonce is 60 cm around so pretty damn big, but this beanie swamped me and was so thick it made me look like the Supermario character 'Toad'! Also, although it probably would be super warm and waterproof due to the membrane between the woolly and the fleece layers, the membrane does make a distinct 'crinkling' sound. Personally, I couldn't be doing with a hat with a soundtrack. It's all choice isn't it and I suppose it depends on how you want to look eg: Toad ! One last thing too - how come this was the only Sealskinz hat at half price - there's often a reason for 'bargains'.

Okay so what you need to know is that my husband struggles to get hats to fit his head. Normal average size hats just don't fit, so when I bought this large xl size I thought I'd just see. Well.... it not only fits but it's perfect. Who knew?? It is a lovely chunky quality with a lining and waterproof to boot! Some people have said its crinkly noisy because of the waterproof inner membrane, but I have it on good authority (husband knows everything) that it's not an issue when wearing the hat. Buy it if you're wondering. I'm highly delighted and so is he. Thanks for reading x

Don't waste you're money spending more elsewhere. This is legit. We compared the hat to one in a popular outdoor store and the hat was the exact same. I'm buying a few more. One as a spare and one for my father in law. Well worth the price, thick, warm. Great fit for my husbands big head lol.

Echt unglaublich warm und eher nix für Temperaturen über Null Grad. Eher ab minus 10 Grad und kälter. Also: Super warm und super kuschelig. Ich bin jedes mal happy mit der Mütze, wenn ich mit dem Hund raus muss und es draußen richtig knackig kalt ist. Größe ist stimmig.

Le plus chaud et protecteur des bonnets en laine. Vraiment imperméable.

This is the warmest winter beanie I know. It's great that it's both wind and waterproof. I take it with me when cruising coastal waters in northern New England during shoulder seasons, it's better than similar versions offered by government/military for this kind of use. It's comfortable enough to wear for long periods in adverse conditions. Fits well, lining is soft. Middle layer may be GoreTex and outer layer is a weave.
