YOU: The Owner's Manual: An Insider's Guide to the Body that Will Make You Healthier and Younger [Mehmet C. Oz, Michael F. Roizen] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. YOU: The Owner's Manual: An Insider's Guide to the Body that Will Make You Healthier and Younger Review: Impressive Guidebook for the Body - Dr. Mehmet Oz has a refreshingly honest approach to life. His "Tips for a Happy, Heart-Healthy Life" have appeared in the Reader's Digest and his wisdom promotes a preventative approach. He is a renowned heart surgeon who is now the professor and vice-chairman of surgery at Columbia University. His energy is very evident in the writing and his tips encourage practical and easy-to-accomplish lifestyle changes. Throughout this book you will find information on how to realize your "RealAge." This concept was created by Michael F. Roizen, M.D. who is also the author of the bestseller, RealAge. He enjoys encouraging people to live longer and has a deep understanding of internal systems. The authors begin by comparing our bodies to the structure of a house and then provide a short "BQ" Quiz. I did not break any Jeopardy records but did enjoy the humor. After the Quiz, you will encounter myths about heart health and then take the rather challenging "Brain Test." The main chapters include: Your Body, Your Home: Super Health The Beat Goes On: Your Heart and Arteries Do You Mind: Your Brain and Nervous System Motion Control: Your Bones, Joints, and Muscles To a Lung and Healthy Life: Your Lungs Gut Feelings: Your Digestive System Sex Marks the Spot: Your Sexual Organs Common Sense: Your Sensory Organs Sick Sense: Your Immune System The Gland Is Your Gland: Your Hormones Hell Cells: Cancer The Owner's Manual Diet YOU: The Owner's Manual is brimming with popular culture references, explanations that make complete sense and explanations for why disease occurs in the first place. Can you prevent disease with simple lifestyle changes? Is it truly that easy? The authors explore the many benefits of aspirin, explain LDL Cholesterol, promote the benefits of walking and even explain the details of why supplements and foods prevent disease. You may find yourself buying more "Philodendrons," or considering the Smoking Cessation Plan. There are frank discussions about digestion that are so needed for our health. How do our thoughts and health connect? Is it more than psychological? Are there true biological reasons this occurs? The authors sweep away the mystery and cleverly explain the connection between the brain and body. Can your thoughts truly boost your immune system? The Index is helpful for revisiting chapters containing information on topics like: alpha hydroxyl acid, acupuncture, aging, antioxidants, antibiotics, asthma, back pain, beta-blockers, blood pressure, diabetes, bone density, brain function, breast cancer, caffeine, chronic pain, coenzyme Q10, conception, depression, enzymes, exercise, estrogen, headaches, heart disease, hormones, insomnia, tears, laughter, menopause, metabolism, migraines, olive oil, pheromones, posture, reproduction, supplements, thyroid disorders and even wrinkle prevention. The concept of "apoptosis" was completely new to me and throughout this book you may find yourself in awe of biological processes and body functions. They also answer questions like: Why do we feel less stressed after we cry? What is the real reason for yawning? If you have tremors, what is one of the main reasons? What do Avocados, Beets and Dates have in common? Should I take aspirin with warm or cold water? Can you outgrow Mitral Valve Prolapse? How many times should we eat Fish in a week? Which healing oil helps to clean out the arteries? YOU: The Owner's Manual seems to present the facts in order to inspire a sense of appreciation for our miraculous bodies. The authors present entertaining myths that we have all too often accepted as complete fact and use humor throughout to lighten the topics that are very easy to understand without any prior knowledge of the subjects. Reading this book will open up entire new realms of medical knowledge that can benefit you immediately. The amusing illustrations guide you through the heart, brain, sensory organs and immune system. The chapter on The Owner's Manual Diet has a Activity Plan for exercise that includes walking, biking, swimming, resistance training, stretching, yoga and deep breathing exercises. There are tips for how much to eat and drink, which foods to eat when (breakfast, snacks, beverages, lunch, dinner, dessert), and a Suggested Ten-Day Schedule that organizes all the recipes into days. The recipe for Double Strawberry Blender Blast has three ingredients. A gourmet meal of Shitake Mushroom and Asparagus Frittata with Smoked Salmon helps to increase the Omega-3 fatty acids in your diet and Roasted Chicken with Pesto Gemelli is easy to make when you are low on time to make dinner or lunch. Each recipe has the calories, fat, aging fats, cholesterol, fiber, carbohydrates, protein, sodium and potassium information per serving. I have been wishing for a book like this for years and finally it arrived. This book contains everything your doctor doesn't have time to explain in an office visit and it is perfect to read before your next appointment. You will know how your body works and which questions will benefit you over the long term. ~The Rebecca Review P.S. You might also enjoy The Metabolic Plan if the antiaging aspects intrigue you. Review: A very comprehensive audio CD about how he human body functions and how to protect your health and slow down aging - I am no medical expert. However, I have been reading and researching about the human body, health and diseases for many years to educate myself on the topic. This audio CD titled You the Owner's Manual by Dr. Mehmet C. Oz and Dr Michael F. Roizen is one of the best sources, like their later book that I had read titled : You Staying Young. Anybody interested in protecting his / her health or that of the loved ones and anybody who wants to learn about the human body would greatly benefit from listening to this CD carefully from time to time. High school students who need to learn about the human body as part of their science / biology courses would also find the CD quite useful. Latest top quality information about the subject comes from two top medical authorities : Dr. Mehmet C. Oz and Dr. Michael F. Roizen. It covers all the relevant parts of the body by first clearly explaining how that part of the body functions, how it interacts with the rest of the body, the most common related diseases, their reasons, how they affect aging and how to minimize the risk of getting those diseases in the form of action plans. They emphasize that even though inherited unfavorable genetic factors may have a negative effect on health the inheritor is not doomed : he / she can overcome the bad genetic factors by adopting the right lifestyle explained in this CD. Of course the doctors warn that each person should consult his / her physician before applying the advice to his / her particular situation. For example to do or not to do hormone replacement therapy is something to be decided on an individual basis between the person and his / her doctor. In the CD the doctors describe most possible alternatives. Another example is should you take aspirin as a protective measure from heart stroke and cancer also depends on your particular circumstances that must be decided by consulting your physician. The CD is enjoyable to listen to and easy to understand particularly because the doctors talk briefly switching turns. Thus the listener is not obliged to listen to the same voice throughout the CD. A single voice can be tiring and boring to listen to sometimes in other CD's even when the speaker is a very good speaker. You don't need to be ill to benefit from the advice in the CD, you may just want to maintain your present good health throughout your life . Although I was already healthy when I read the book You the Owner's Manual two years ago before I lsitened to the CD recently, I have been applying the various advice since then, I realized what I was doing wrong, made the necessary corrections and benefitted from them. Now, having also listened to the audiobook in CD form I found some other things I need to correct in my attitude to protect my health and slow down aging ( I am a 50 year old man ) and will certainly apply them as well. For example I need to protect my ears from the loud music at the fitness saloon where I regularly work out. In conclusion, if you are interested in the human body and in protecting your health this is one of the best sources you would be able to find. Obviously, you would need to apply the advice given, consulting your physician first if necessary

A Fun, Insightful Tour of the Human Body — Finally Explained in Plain English
A Fun, Insightful Tour of the Human Body — Finally Explained in Plain English *YOU: The Owner’s Manual* by Dr. Michael Roizen and Dr. Mehmet Oz is one of those rare health books that makes anatomy and physiology not only understandable, but genuinely entertaining. Using humor, clear analogies, and real-life examples, the authors walk you through every system in your body—from your heart and brain to digestion and hormones—showing how each part works and what you can do to keep it running smoothly. What I liked most is how approachable it feels. They take medical concepts that are normally buried in dense textbooks and explain them in a way anyone can grasp, without dumbing it down. The “body quiz” at the start was surprisingly eye-opening, and each chapter ends with realistic lifestyle changes that can help you age better and live longer. The “Owner’s Manual Diet” is a nice touch too, offering simple meal ideas that emphasize energy and longevity rather than calorie counting. It’s not perfect—some sections feel a little dated now, especially given how fast medical science evolves—but the overall message remains timeless: take ownership of your body, understand how it works, and make daily choices that protect your long-term health. Bottom line: An enjoyable, well-structured health guide that makes you smarter about your body and motivates you to treat it better. Equal parts educational and fun—like having two brilliant doctors translate your body into everyday language.

Good Product.

Rien de bien extraordinaire dans ce livre qui se présente comme une encyclopédie du corps humain. Intéressant si on n'y connait rien, beaucoup moins si on s'y connait. Quelques conseils intéressants, pour les amateurs du Dr Oz.
