Diner-style mugs are more along the lines of 6-8oz, so that's 3-4 diner mugs. Traditional British teacups that look more like the rest of the world are in the range of 4-6oz, which means roughly 4-6 cups.

I have not done so, because it's so easy to wash by hand. I use the blue, gentle plastic scrub side of the sponge for the glass, and simply run the metal tea basket under clean running water, rubbing it lightly with my fingers if necessary to remove leaves. I'd be concerned with detergent deposits affecting the tea flavor from a dishwasher. This is, of course, only my opinion.

Can I pour boiling water from a kettle into this? I don't have a microwave.

Yes, it is perfectly safe to pour boiling water into your Hario Chacha teapot. We have been using ours for over two years and absolutely love it. We pour boiling water into our pot, and we also microwave the teapot without the metal screen, it's safe both ways.

hello, yes you could steep tea bags in this tea pot. I would recommend two tea bags, it makes 3 8oz cups of tea. I love my tea pot I use it daily with tea bags and loose leaf.
