Can I wear this with a breastplate?

Yes you can. I have a pic up of a manequin wearing just that. A breastplate and the goget.

This is 18 gauge steel... minimum armor is 14 gauge (roughly) and that is not made to stop bullets. Ever notice bullets got popular metal armor was no longer used :) So the answer is no.

Would this be too big for a woman?

It's big, it's ment to fit over a arming coat but yes I think it would be kind of big for an average sized woman
