The hip scarf is a beautiful color and does make a pleasing jingle, but I was quite disappointed to find a (poorly-worded) tag sewn into the blanket-stitched "hem:" Made in China, and "may contained lead." I don't know which parts may contain lead but that is a toxic metal not to be messed with. Considering the snags China has created for itself around deadly products (plastic in pet food and baby formula, expired/useless pharmaceuticals, etc.) and its very clear disregard for anything but profit at any cost, I'm not inclined to give them any beneft of the doubt here. The tag indicates not to "mouth or chew," which I certainly don't plan on doing, but lead in particular can be absorbed through the skin and I'm not keen on taking that risk.Also, as for the "velour" description, the base fabric is only "velour" in the sense that it's fuzzy on one side and smooth on the other; it is very thin for the weight of the aluminum "coins" and plastic beads sewn into it. I don't know what product the other reviewers before me had, but I can't imagine we're all describing the same thing. The description says "hand-sewn, not mass-produced," but I only see that here in the sense of a hand pushing a button or working a lever; being a seamstress myself the loops and knots are too uniform for "hand-sewn." And as for mass-production, I don't think anything made in China isn't.For about $7 ($12 with shipping) I don't expect to get performance-grade, but I don't think it's beyond reason to expect the product to not be a health threat just by touching it. It is going back, and A.K. Trading is not getting more of my business, and Amazon.com needs to be clear to potential buyers where their products are coming from.

For the price, this belt is awesome! I wear a 6/8 (37-40 inches at the fullest part) and this fits perfectly! I like to wear it a little low on my hips and there's still some room to tie tighter if necessary, but I don't think this would work for someone very small (~0/2), or for children. Now concerning the lead issue, mine didn't have a tag on it but Im going to assume the risk is still there. I don't have pets or children so Im not super worried, and my bf (an engineering student working in construction) deals with lead often and says as long as I wash my hands after touching the belt, it should be fine. There are lots of little bits of red thread popping out but since this is just for my belly dance class, I wasn't looking for something that would last forever.

I bought this for a bellydance class. I found that it was easier to tell if you were doing a move right if you actually make a jingle sound. It has a nice heaviness to it, but I have a couple complaints. First of all, at the time of purchase, this was supposedly handmade, but it had your typical tag stating "Made in China" on it, as thought it was made in a factory somewhere. The second complaint is that it is not wide at all. This is wider than a belt, but definitely not what I would qualify as a wrap or scarf. From the picture it looks as though it should at least cover most of your behind if you were a size Small. I am a size extra small/small and this was very narrow. However, I knew both of these issues after reading previous reviews, so I am still overall very satisfied with this purchase.

I love this belly dancing skirt! At least that's what I call it. I originally got it when I was attending Zumba class regularly and there were some dances the instructor would do and she would use a jangly belly dancing skirt similar to this one. I knew I had to have one after seeing hers!! This is perfect for what I needed it for! The purple is a deep, true purple with a velvety-type look, with lots of silver coins that jangle whether you are walking, twisting, bending, shimmying or shaking! I haven't used mine in a while, but I love to put it on and just dance around the house with it since I haven't had time to go to Zumba class!! I highly recommend this product. It is wonderful!

This product is cute. It's a nice color combo and makes more noise than the traditional wraps because it's 3 layers. I just wish it was longer though. The belt part is made out of soft velvety fabric so it's hard to make it stay once it's tied. You really have to tie it tightly.

I totally underestimated the quality when I ordered this. From the moment I opened the package I was in love. So pretty andd NOT cheaply made. I've seen others in my Zumba class with coin/hip scars on and I must say that I was totally impressed with this and was proud to wear it.The velvet like fabric sets off the silver coins and the picture does not do it justice. If you are considering this do not hesitate; buy it today.

I use this belly dance skirt in my Zumba class. It lets me know if I am moving my body or just going through the motions. I enjoy the sound that the coins make with I move. I would recommend this skirt for anyone.

I bought this multi-row silver coins belly dance wrap & hip scarf to wear when I dance to my Zumba tapes. It's very pretty but some of the plastic coins came off already (probably because not real coins) . However, for the price I'm very happy with the purchase and could wear to a belly dance class or even wear for a Halloween costume.
