Amazing.
I've been using an AKASO EK7000 and a Crosstour action camera for the past three years, and before I went to a GoPro, I didn't think it was worth the extra money. But it really is. It feels better made and more robust, and the camera quality and stabilization.... wow. What a difference. First of all, the touch screen display is clear and responsive considering how small the screen is. The battery lasts a longggggggg time compared to the ASKASO and Crosstour. There's loads of different camera settings, with stabilization functions as well. You can adjust the camera zoom for a narrow, linear, wide, or ultra-wide viewing. As for the camera itself, I'd say it gets a 9/10 in my books. The reason it's not a 10 is because sometimes the quality of an object I’m filming on, from, let's say 40 feet away, doesn’t look as sharp as I'd like it to be - I'm being picky here. The only things I don’t like, is you can’t charge it while you’re recording (I know, pain) and trying to remove the micro-SD card, which is right next to where the battery is, can be fiddly. Cards up to 256GB are compatible in case you wondered. Now, if you're like me, and you want a reliable, high-quality, extremely smooth, and robust action camera, then it's a no brainer – buy one. However, if you only want a camera that’ll ‘do the job’ and has an okay picture quality, then there’s cheaper action cameras on the market. The reason why I gave it 4/5 stars for ‘Value for money’ is because I bought it on the Amazon Prime Day deals, when it was £250 – which is brilliant value for money. Now, it’s back to £320. I hope this helps.

Game changer
I bought this during Christmas offer and got lucky coz it came with shorty, head strap, and a spare battery. I used this go pro 8 everywhere when I went on holiday in Italy for Christmas and new year. I used this almost everyday. This a great camera with lots of media power. Eg 4K @ 30pfs and 1080 @ 60fps. The function is very easy to use and I am in love with this camera. Just a quick thing to note is the battery. Make sure you have few extra pair of batteries coz I believe of it’s high resolution media the battery doesn’t last long. But it’s a small device with small battery. Highly recommended

Absolutely incredible in many ways, but falls flat in others
I have owned every generation of the GoPro since the GoPro Hero 5 black and upgraded at each iteration. When I first saw the footage from the Hero 8 Black, I thought okay, what incremental quality increase am I going to get this time. Hypersmooth 2.0 That's what sold it to me. In many ways, GoPro has not listened to its consumers when it comes to software reliability and some of the design aspects of this new GoPro. However, it is still a worthwhile device and depending on how you use it, you might not need this upgrade. USEABILITY/INTERFACE In terms of ease of use, this GoPro's interface has changed for the better. Now you don't need to tap furiously over multiple screens and settings to change it to your recording settings. In the past you couldn't save presets to use, but now, you can access this with a couple of taps to get your usual setting. You can set multiple custom easy access settings. There are a couple of quick buttons nearby to provide more or less stabilisation now, which is much appreciate so you can pretty much get what you need to do from the camera screen. DESIGN This is where GoPro wins and loses at the same time. It looks very similar to the GoPro Hero 7 Black, but the lens is not detachable. Okay GoPro says its much stronger as a lens, but the reality is, it is not infallible. In the situation the glass breaks, you're expected to fork up for a new GoPro? I don't think so GoPro. The bottom pop out mount attachment is super convenient, but looks a bit brittle. Only time will tell how well it will hold up to regular use. However, it isn't that expensive to replace - so that's a huge plus (that it's replaceable with ease). The hinge for the battery compartment was not well designed. Its a bit fiddly to take off and its very easy to snap off the hinge completely (it's meat to come off, but it comes off a bit too easily for my taste). HYPERSMOOTH 2.0 This is basically the best feature about the Hero 8 Black. Hypersmooth 2.0 is a vast improvement to the first iteration on the GoPro Hero 7 Black Hypersmooth 1.0. I was completely blown away by the stabilisation. The Hero 7, was advertised as a Gimbal killer, but in my opinion was over advertised a bit. It was stellar, don't get me wrong when comparing to what was out there before. BUT Hypersmooth 2.0 absolutely kills it. I think it's as close to Gimbal killer as it can be on boost mode. Note that boost mode crops the image a bit more. VIDEO/IMAGE As per usual, the photos taken by GoPro are usually much more vibrant and crisp that some of the images taken with phones. The wide angle lens is beautiful and is great fun to take photos with. It has no focal point (infinite depth of field), so everything is sharp throughout the photos. I recommend anyone who is on the fence to go check out some photos in youtube reviews to decide whether this style of photo is to your taste. The GoPro hero 8 has a marked improvement when it comes to night mode. It's less noisy and the clarity is much much higher compared to the Hero 7. RELIABIILTY I have only been able to test this for a couple of hours, and i have had one issue with frozen GoPro. This I know has been quite common on the GoPro Hero devices, so it did not shock me too much. It's a shame that GoPro has not fixed this in each release. Hopefully with more firmware updates, we will see if this becomes more reliable. It is an annoyance more than anything as you can just take out the battery if it freezes. BUNDLE I would totally recommend this bundle - the shorty stand is super convenient to use and is an official GoPro accessory which makes it well built and reliable. Great value for black Friday - don't hesitate! BATTERY The battery life has not changed significantly since GoPro Hero 5. Its had incremental improvements but nothing ground breaking. The annoying thing is that these new blue tipped batteries are backwards compatible, but they have a larger output capacity. If you use your old GoPro batteries, you'll find that they don't output enough power to shoot in all of the modes that the new GoPro 8 offers. In summary, I can recommend the GoPro Hero 8 if you like taking smooth videos. On Hypersmooth 2.0 alone, it was worthwhile for the upgrade from 7 for me, but if you're just into photos and a much more infrequent user, then I'm not sure it's got enough new features to be a must upgrade as such. If you can grab it on black friday or prime sale, then even better!

It just works
And it works well, I was surprised at how good the 4k image quality from this tiny cam is, the sound directly from the inbuilt mic isn't too shabby either, I'm waiting on the Media Mod which makes adding an off cam mic really easy and as I already have the tiny Rode wireless go and their excellent lav mic I can capture the sound attached to my subject allowing for professional audio recording. The cam also does slow motion and supports lots of codecs and while it can't compare with my Panny GH5 it costs a fraction of the price while offering almost as good stabilisation too. Don't hesitate to buy this great little cam 10/10

Very good deal
This was a great black Friday deal good value for money. Great solid product with extras. Yet to put it through its paces but would imagine like all gopro cameras it will be amazing with great picture quality.

Great picture/fantastic stabilisation/poor battery
The picture quality is great as you can expect from GoPro brand, however the bariery life is poor. Even with GPS and other extras off, you need a few spare batteries. Another minus is non replacable lens cover but all in all It is a great product. Even if its not a perfect camera, the stabilisation is worth every penny. I have tested in on mtb and the results are fantastic.

This is the BEST action camera out there. Pros: 1. Image Stabilization is par excellence. 2. Image quality is comparable to flagship devices of any major smartphone brands. Can function as your secondary camera. 3. User interface is very easy to learn and use. 4. Sturdy. Built to last. Cons: 1. Battery life should have been better. A single charge will last you about an 1-1.5 hours. 2. Touch screen response is a little off. 3. GoPro accesories are very expensive. But overall, I must say this is an excellent buy. Will give 5 Stars.

I've had the GoPro HERO8 Bundle for a few years now and I can confidently say it is great. I've traveled a bunch and done heaps of activities such as kayaking and skiing so the accessories have been very handy and useful. The video quality is good and has a nice range of functions/features, and the interface is pretty easy to get around. The only drawback would be battery life - which lasts about an hour (although it lasts longer if you're only taking photos) but investing in another battery pretty much eliminates this drawback.
