I'm looking at the Vollrath, Size 30 which says it is a 1-ounce scoop. What I need to know is, when the product is scooped and then weighed will it actually weigh 1 ounce?

To help clear this up. Scoops(dishers) are numbered according to portions per quart. It is a volume measurement, not weight. A number eight disher equals 4 liquid ounces, a number 16 equals 2 liquid ounces, a number 10 equals 3.2 liquid ounces, a number 30 equals 1.07 liquid ounces, etc. That's pretty darned close to their stated 1 ounce. It is a volume measurement, not weight.

Not the size 30. That would be approx tje size of a golf ball. The higher the number, the smaller the scoop. Look at the 40.

I'm curious if anyone has had issues with discomfort in their hands/thumb? How do they work for thick batters?

Have had my 2 for awhile. I have no issues with discomfort in my hands or thumb; however, my biggest batch is less than 100 cookies. My works great with thick batters. Hope this helps. Very satisfied with my 2.
