DASH Safe Slice® Mandoline Slicer, Julienne + Dicer for Vegetables, Meal Prep & More with 30+ Presets & Thickness Adjuster - Green

I really needed a mandoline slicer as I am doing MUCH more cooking at home these days. Thank you, global pandemic. 😒. I used this to make ratatouille yesterday, and it is the best mandoline slicer I have ever tried! One of the really nifty things about it is that A: it’s really easy to use. B: it was easy to set up. C: it makes short work of very even slices of veggies. D. It’s very safe to use. As long as the loading chute and safety handle are in place, it’s nearly impossible to injure yourself. I would even let my 16 yo use it. E: it’s easy to clean. I just used to sprayer on my sink to get the leftover bits of tomato and zucchini out of the bladed bit. I had to take the safety chute off to clean it, but that’s very simple. Just press the release button to take it off and replace it, spray the junk out of the slicing blades, and voila, done. Oh, and this is my third Dash product. I have not been bribed, reimbursed, or offered any freebies. This is my unsolicited opinion. I would not turn down free Dash products. They are awesome. I have purchased a mini toaster oven, which gets daily use by my family, and a mini donut maker. Which makes amazing little donuts. They were delicious, and far healthier than deep fried donuts. My son LOVED them.

I got this for slicing Fuyu Persimmons to dry. Just to test it in advance, I sliced a Russet potato. The effort required to slice was extremely easy. I did 1.5mm slices and they were very uniform. The input chute inside dimension measures 2 3/4" wide x 2 1/2" high. The regular size potato was a hair too wide, so I sliced off about 1/8" by hand so it would feed easy. And it did feed easy, no need to push it at all. Gravity fed. I sliced the whole potato very fast, and that is a lot of slices at only 1.5mm thick. The catch tray caught the slices nicely. Clean up was super easy for just a potato. The provided clean up tool works well. The 3 cut adjusters are easy to set. Of course safety is a huge plus with this slicer. In my older age I am a bit fumble fingered, so this will probably save me from flesh cuts.

pros: Once you read the instructions and get a feel for how things work, it is very easy and straightforward to use. It is extremely safe as your hand does not go anywhere near the blade during use. It is basically impossible to cut yourself while cutting vegetables with this which is one of tge reasons we bought it. cons: The handle is pretty easy to accidentally lock which is probably what is causing some people to report difficulty cutting things sometimes. All you need to do to fix this is to rotate the handle until it fully unlocks. The vegetable tray just sits under the chute and isnt secured in place which makes it easy to jostle around during use. Vegetables often need to be cut in half to fit eg. large onions but this is going to be true of any mandolin slicer if you try to cut something big enough. As others have said, it can be a little annoying to clean in certain areas but this is not something that I can see would be easily avoidable in designing something like this. There are just going to be tight spaces that are harder to clean than others. Cleaning is also the only way I could ever see someone injuring themselves unintentionally but that would be user error i.e not using the cleaning brush.

When I first saw the Dash Safe Slice Mandoline I knew I had to have one, because I have had a standard mandoline for many years, and have cut off several finger tips through mis-use or over confidence. The Dash Safe Slice is perfect because there is virtually no way of cutting finger tips, due to the built-on blades, dial in thickness, dual cutting style knobs (actually 30 different types of cuts are available), and the product design. This product allows me to cut from a thickness of a piece of paper to the thickness of a cell phone with just the twist of a knob found on the back of the product, and an easy push of a spring loaded handle. There was never an easier to use mandoline than this Dash Safe Slice. There is a well written instruction manual that covers every possible question and concern, and does so in very clear and concise English. There are even recipes found in the back of the instruction manual, to provide ideas for using the vegetables and fruits that can be sliced using the Dash Safe Slice. So far I have really enjoyed using this product, and look forward to using it more often as I slice, dice and julienne for my kitchen recipes. This is definitely an essential tool for my kitchen. Any cook would love to have one as a gift as well.

Love this gadget!!! It works so perfectly. The thing I would suggest is to add another lock position where it will expose the blades and allow for easier cleaning but its still relatively easy to clean. Cuts are even and very adjustable. It has little cups on the feets to stick to the surface and minimize slipping and sliding. Cutting area is a good size but would be better if it can allow a longer cut for fries. I can live with some short fries though for a quick and even cut... we'll be having a lot more vegetables now and wont have to spend time making sure fingers stay intact or time trying to hand cut evenly! Its worth every penny!!

I really wanted this item to work. Although it did slice things and it was done in a safe way. The trouble of getting it all together and actually doing the slicing I could’ve done it by hand quicker. When it comes to cleaning, this thing is a bear. I had to wash it three times just to get all the pieces of onion out.I am glad that I got it as a deal of the day and $20 off if I would’ve paid full price it would’ve been returned.

I was a bit leary about using a mandolin. I value my fingertips. But this one is almost perfect. I used it out of the with excellent results. I do a lot of canning and preparing a peck of pickles for processing can get precarious without proper precautions or protection. (thank you! I'll be here all review!) But seriously, I've been le to slice and dice my way through all kinds of produce with excellent results and zero injuries. Occasionally, a pice of veggie decides to hold on for dear life when cleaning, but it comes with a nifty little tool to dislodge the reluctant ones out of the blades. Add to this the compactness for storage and its definitely a winner in my book.

I love this tool. It is the best kitchen tool I have bought in a long time. It took me a little trial and error to get the results that I wanted for different types of foods, but once figured out it is so quick and easy to use. I feel so safe using this (I was always nervous with other mandolines, as I have cut myself before). The only downside is the cleaning. There are a lot of small little corners and small areas where food bits get stuck. Takes a while to clean, but it is worth it. Design criticism: it would be good if the angle of the cut could be more shallow. It seems to be set at about 45 degree angle, sometimes it is nice to have a 60-70 degree angle cut.

Price worthy, no danger to hands for cutting with sliding the vegetables. slicer is the best thing, with eight adjustable options.

Good product design. Easy to use. But cleaning takes lot of water and patience. Vegetable pieces stuck inside the joints and narrow parts. Provided brush also not helpful.

O produto anunciado é o mandoline Safe Slice da marca DASH. Porém, o produto entregue não possui marca, é apenas um mandoline genérico ou "paralelo". É uma propaganda enganosa! Alem disso, a caixa veio amassada com o produto solto, mal armazenado. Uma grande decepção.

Plastic, and does not cut properly. Keeps getting stuck. Vegetables also gets stuck in between the blades and u have to keep using something to remove. Also very difficult to clean.
