SpeechMike Premium Dictation USB Microphone, Slide-Switch, LFH3510

This works great on a PC. It did not work very well with Fusion on the MAC. This may be a problem with Dragon rather than the SpeechMic.

My Radiologists use this mic on a daily basis. Between 2 Rads, they dictate over 100 studies daily. Best feature is the slide. One Radiologist does not like to constantly hold down a button while dictating. The slide feature allows her to slide it up and start dictating. Having the cord is not bothersome. In fact, I'd rather have a consistent power source (USB) instead of depending on the Rad to remember to put the mic back on the charger. So far, the mics have been clear without any distortion. I have not had any complaints from either Rads or MTs.

Am using the mic for a specific purpose - with Windows 7 speech recognition on a Toshiba laptop for medical dictations. I believe that the mic and Philips software are working well, although perhaps would be better with more computer RAM, as there are frequent delays. Issues seem to be with Windows speech software, as I can find no way to train new words. For instance, although I use the "correct that" function, which is supposed to train the software, there are medical words which it refuses to learn, and no way to specifically train them. Also, Windows software has a habit of stopping and offering lists of choices for words/phrases regularly, from which you have to select what you were trying to dictate, and then proceed. Not an efficient way to dictate. Mic probably would be a 5-star except for these (probably not mic-dependent) problems; also, would prefer a spring-loaded dictate slider so that it would turn off when released, rather than having to actively slide the switch at the end of each phrase or sentence. Relatively minor, but my only gripe with the handset.

I'm a physician....and, with the lovely advent of Electronic Medical Records I get to spend 67% of my day dictating instead of concentrating on your problem or researching current literature to facilitate resolution of your problem!! That's where the Speechmike comes into play...this baby is the bomb! Love it!!! It makes a ridiculous process seem much more manageable!! And, really...isn't that how things are now? You will be very satisfied!!! P.S. Get the "slide" instead of the "push button"-much easier to use!

Aesthetically, this a very attractive microphone. I bought this to use Dragon Home 13 to dictate on my windows laptop. Here's what you need to know: -this does not work well with USB 3.0 at all. The troubleshooting guide actually mentions this, and there's no good workaround. You can get a 3.0 to 2.0 adapter, but I didn't bother with that -installation can be done via the web, if your laptop doesn't have a CD drive reader (like mine) - package comes with installation CD -the microphone itself is comfortable, sturdy, and a good product -the track ball works really well Overall, I would recommend this provided you have the compatible laptop.

Das Gerät wurde als Ersatzbeschaffung für ein altes, aber nicht defektes Diktiergerät getätigt. Verwendet wird es über Dictanet (ra micro) und für das Dragon Natrually Speaking. Beides funktioniert tadellos. Die Sprachqualität ist hervorragend. Für das Kabel-Gerät habe ich mich entschieden, weil die Sprachqualität meiner Auffassung nach noch ein bisschen besser ist, als bei den kabellosen Geräten. Das Philips Pocket Memo Digital kommt dem allerdings schon sehr nah. Auch die Haptik glatt und die Optik schwarz/anthrazit sind sehr gut. Da es nicht ganz schwarz ist, sieht man keine Fingerabdrücke, obwohl die glatte Haptik diese verursachen könnte. Die Haptik ist klasse und verursacht aufgrund des sehr dunklen anthrazit keine Abdrücke. Das Gerät ist insgesamt gut durchdacht!

Ich schreibe und diktiere viel an einem Apple Mac. Dazu benutze ich für die direkte Eingabe in ein Textverarbeitungsprogramm, das im Mac eingebaute Mikrophon und die Dragon-Version für Mac. Oder ich diktiere in ein Philips DPM-Gerät und lasse diese dabei einstehende MP3-Datei von Dragon im Transkritionsmodus in Text verwandeln. Das funktioniert ziemlich gut, doch wie immer hängt die Ergebnisqualität von der Art meines Sprechmodus ab. Er sollte klar und deutlich sein, langsam, mit einer winzigen Pause zwischen jedem Wort und mit möglichst wenig Hintergrundgeräusch. Das Philips SpeechMike verspricht nun „Boost your productivity“. Ich bestellte ein SpeechMike LFH3510 mit Schiebeschalter. Den Schiebeschalter bin ich schon vom Philips DPM-Gerät gewohnt. Das LFH3510 ist von der ersten Anmutung her recht leicht. Es könnte gut 50 Gramm mehr auf die Waage bringen, um sich gegen das etwas steife Kabel durchzusetzen. Dann lade ich die SpeechControl.app von der dictation.philips.com-Seite runter und installiere es. Sie gibt es nur auf Englisch mit vielen mir unbekannten Begriffen. Bei Amazon gibt es keinen Hinweis auf das erforderliche Betriebssystem! Aber es funktionierte mit iOS 10.14. Mit dem Schiebeschalter lässt sich des Mikrofon und damit auch Dragon ein- und ausschalten. Das ist schon mal eine Erleichterung. Der Trackball in der Mitte des Gerätes ist nicht so präzise wie eine normale Maus. Auch könnte der Ball größer sein. Scrollen ist nicht möglich. Die programmierbaren Schalter müssen mit „Save to device“ Bestätigt werden, sonst funktionieren sie nicht! Die programmierbaren Buttons sind unergonomisch angebracht und umständlich zu bedienen. Philips bietet eine Diktat-Software an, doch offenbar nur für Windows. Die Beschreibung in der Betriebsanleitung, die es nur online gibt, ist wenig brauchbar. Bei Aufnahme leuchtet kein Licht. Ist zwar entbehrlich, aber der Record-Modus sollte klarer erkennbar sein. Letztlich aber hat sich das Diktier-Mikrofon für mich nicht als praktikabel herausgestellt. Wie üblich bei Diktierprogrammen entstehen Fehler, die oftmals per Hand korrigiert werden müssen. Dazu muss ich jedes Mal das Mikrofon aus der Hand legen, wechsle also ständig zwischen dem Diktat ins Mikrofon und der Korrektur an der Tastatur. Das ist umständlich. Es gibt noch weitere Anwendungsbereiche für dieses Mikrofon, mit denen ich mich aber nicht beschäftigt habe. Wer beispielsweise Texte diktiert und diese nicht selbst abtippt, sondern abschreiben lässt, scheint mir mit diesem Mikro gut bedient. Ich benutze jetzt einen Headset von Apple. Mir scheint, dass dessen Aufnahmequalität etwas besser ist als das vom Philips-Mikro.
