Antlion Audio ModMic USB Attachable Noise-Cancelling Microphone with Mute Switch Compatible with Mac, Windows PC, PlayStation 4, and More

I was expecting this to be an overpriced microphone when I first bought it. I was amazed that it made my voice sound better than my Blue Yeti. I mainly use this in Omni mode even though I'm only just speaking directly at it. The reason why this is better than the Blue Yeti is that it has some sort of noise canceling going on. When I type really loudly on my keyboard, the Mod Mic doesn't pick up the keyboard sounds, while the Blue Yeti does. This is perfect for apps and games when you want to activate your mic with voice activity instead of Push to Talk. It's almost like magic really. I also like how you can orient your mic with the magnetic claps into different positions or take it off entirely. I'm pretty pleased with this.

Purchased this (ModMic USB) about 6 months ago to add onto a pair of HD6XX's and it works great. I've been using it daily for work/gaming and it sounds much better than any integrated mic I've used before from gaming headsets. The magnet attachments stick well, I haven't had trouble with them and pulling on them has no give. I often switch the mic to an upright position when I'm not using it, and that works fine as well. $80 is at the higher ends for what I was willing to pay for a USB mic, but it's worth is given the build and sound quality. Would recommend.

The cord is definitely too short. But the cord on the microphone is significantly shorter than the one of my headphones. So if I move just out of length the mic rips off the headphones and falls to the floor. The sound quality is pretty good with a low noise floor. And the mute button is nice. There's no good competition and it shows with it's price. Build quality levels a lot to be desired. The magnet attachment broke twice.

Update: I've had this mic for 1 year now, today it completely stopped working, after normal use, always attached to my headphones (no pinching wires etc.), the wire has completely snapped underneath the insulation at the strain relief making it unusable. Would not buy again or reccomend 0/10. The adhesive is weak and keeps falling off. The wire clips leave the wire in a super awkward sticking out position after rotating the mic on the magnet, which makes it annoying to have on your headset when not in use. The magnet mount in combination with the weak adhesive make the mic wiggle in the mount if you brush up against the wire or accidentally tug on it. The mic itself is very good otherwise, it sounds great, and is plug and play, the sound could be a bit louder but you can just turn it up in windows settings.

I had this product that stopped working due to a wire strain, and they were quick to help and replace the product. Be mindful when setting up the wire clamps (giving it leeway space) so it does not strain the wire right below the hard handle area.

Bought this mic at the end of April 2022, worked fine and was easy to add to my HD600s. Had a few compliments about sound quality but I can't make any definitive statements on SQ compared to my previous mic on the HyperX Cloud 2s but I assume its a bit better. The Modmic USB would be an easy 5/5 if it was simply constructed better. After less than one year of moderate use for meetings and gaming, the wiring around the anchor was either clipped or bent somehow and started causing disconnection and hissing. I tried taping it to give the wire more structural integrity, and that worked for a couple of days, but during one session I could feel mute button terminal start getting very hot; turns out it was melting. Needless to say, it doesn't work anymore. tldr: this mic is fine in the way that it easily integrates via USB and the anchors are fine and sound quality seems good. However, $90 for a mic that can't even last one year with moderate use (skim the other reviews, this is extremely common) is pretty pathetic from Antlion, especially since the ModMic USB has been out for a while now.

I am picky with call quality when using voicechat applications like Discord. I personally use a boom mic stand desktop setup and a proper vocal microphone to capture my voice, but it wasn't cheap. My friends would ask me how to get good quality audio, but would want to stick with a headphone mounted mic. The thing is, most headsets have bad mics, headphones, or both. And if you get a headset with great quality, it's a few hundred dollars. That's where this beautiful solution comes into play. You get to maintain the familiar headset setup and get to separate the microphone from the headphones. So when one of the two devices breaks, you only have to replace one, not both. The quality is exceptional too. My friends went from sounding like I could hear their entire room being picked up, to close to podcast quality. My ears are forever grateful this product exists.

Mod mic USB is amazing, awesome audio quality. I've owned 3 over the past years attached to a headphone and it's perfect.. except.. Don't buy. Unfortunately they have hardware flaws: 1: The Mute button over time has a flaw where internally it will get hot and fail. Research this on your own but over extended use of mute/unmute it will fail. 2: Out of the box there is a wiring failure point about 2 inches down from the top pivot point on the unit. Out of the box I had one where the wire internally was broken. I had a 2nd one fail after a few months in the same point near the top of the mic below the bend, 2 inches down. The wiring used is brittle, small, weak, cheap.. It will fail if you have this attached to a head phone that you use every day. The wiring is just not subject to any sort of extended flexing. For this I would recommend a not buy. Sorry.

After 7 months of regular use the microphone broke completely. It seems you only get 1 month warranty. Absolute waste of money, would recommend investing your money in something more durable.

Have been using gaming headset for years for both PC gaming and general skype/zoom/ calls. Decided to jump into the relm of more audiophile level headphones for gaming however it is near impossible to find a good gaming headset that has both amazing sound quality with a decent microphone (although I must admit the Seinheiser PC37x came close). After purchsing a good pair of open back magnetic planar headphones my next step was to purchase a microphone. Wanted something with good audio quality but wasn't interested in getting a desk or broadcasting style microphone. The mod mic provides amazing audio quality, is reasonably good at eliminating background noise and was very easy to set up.

Un buon microfono da collegare all'occorrenza alle cuffie hifi classiche (nel mio caso audio-technica m50x). Buona la qualità audio, comodissimo il sistema di montaggio magnetico. Migliorabile la lunghezza dell'archetto flessibile, 2cm in più e sarebbe stato perfetto.

good mic , even received it earlier

Ich bin vom ModMic 5.0 auf dieses gegangen und bereue den Kauf nicht. Zu beginn dachte ich, dass das ModMic 5.0 (welches über 3,5mm Klinke angeschlossen wird) bereits einen guten Sound hat - und das hat es auch. Aber als ich die ersten Reviews zu diesem ModMic USB angesehen habe, hat es mich fast vom Stuhl gerissen. Diese Klarheit (im Omni-Modus! aber auch der Uni-Modus hört sich besser an als beim ModMic 5.0), welche hier durch das Mikrofon wiedergegeben wird ist unfassbar angenehm - auch für die Zuhörer. Ich hätte nicht mit so einem großem Unterschied gerechnet. Zudem ist dieses ModMic per USB (wie der Name schon verrät) anzuschließen, somit fällt einem das vorverstärken völlig weg (wie beim ModMic 5.0), da das über USB schon direkt geregelt wird. Dieses Mikrofon ist tatsächlich Plug and Play! Das Kabel ist jedoch in diesem Fall an einem Stück dran und es hat keine Erweiterungen dabei (ca. 1,5 Meter insgesamt), wie man es beim ModMic 5.0 bereits kannte. Die Stummtaste ist auch integriert und ist in diesem Fall ein digitaler Stummschalter - funktioniert aber wunderbar, gibt kein Störgeräusch von sich, wenn man sich stumm schaltet oder das Mikrofon wieder aktiviert. Zudem leuchtet die Taste rot auf, wenn das Mikrofon gestummt ist, was natürlich vom Vorteil ist, weil man es aus dem Augenwinkel besser erkennen kann, ob es noch gestummt ist oder nicht. Kleiner Nachtrag: Die Klebepads sind wohl die gleichen wie beim Vorgänger ModMic 5.0 - diese halten - je nachdem wie straff man das Mikrofon am Kopfhörerkabel befestigt - mal mehr und mal weniger. Da hier das Kabel wesentlich dicker ist als beim Vorgänger, ist es auch weniger flexibel und könnte (wie bereits erwähnt) das Mikrofon samt der Magnethalterung vom Kopfhörer ziehen. Ich musste bereits einmal das ganze Mikrofon bzw. die Magnethalterung nochmal befestigen. Von mir gibt es hier eine klare Kaufempfehlung!
