Prestige Deluxe Stainless Steel Deep Pressure Pan 5 liters

I bought this in 2011 and I’ve never had a problem with it. This worked from the get go and still going strong! I’m in the market for a new pressure cooker though due to this one being very big and heavy and I’m just 1 person. I didn’t realize pressure cookers came in much smaller sizes else I would’ve bought something easier to handle. I can’t speak for the current versions of this cooker but for what it’s worth, the one I got in 2011 is GOLD.

It’s a genuine product. These last a lifetime (of course silicone ring needs replacement every five years). Never wash in a dishwasher, handles can corrode (and replacement after 15 years might not be available). Hawkins or Prestige (or Butterfly) is a matter of personal preference as to how lead operates. Hawkins lid is non forgiving to slightest dents, Prestige (or Butterfly) is. Newer model (with dip in the lead to capture froth) is even better.

I had to return this pressure cooker as the valve kept spitting food all over the top of the lid with very loud noises and the valve never raised and got the pressure needed to cook my food. I was really looking forward to owning this pressure cooker, but it was defective and don’t know why they would sell a slightly USED and defective item when it is so dangerous. Pressure cookers can explode, do damage to property and also cause major body burns. I’ve used pressure cookers for many years and I know how to use them. Thank God it didn’t explode or burn me.

Curiously, the cooker looked much smaller than other 5 litre Prestige cookers I have owned/seen. On closer viewing of the detail provided in the package, I figured that ttk has changed how they calculate the size!!!! -- it is now "the full internal water capacity of the Body and Lid in closed condition." Curious! So, people! .... be aware of this when ordering.

very food , works well for Indian cooking for lentils and channa .Easy to work and clean .Closes well ,good value for money.Not very heavy to use.Has no sharp ends.

The pressure cook looks useful and the good quality

I've posted pictures of the item immediately after unboxing. The lid is of poor quality and is not the same gage of metal as the body. I told my wife to not use it as I'm not confident about it's safety. Looking on the inside of the lid, the embossing of the two logos on the outside of the lid has dented the lid on the inside. If you can zoom in on the pictures, the bottom center parts of the images show the denting. After much discussion with the wife, we decided to send the item back immediately as I didn't want to take any chances.

Love it. Pretty neat and simple to use.
