Thank you for contacting Maple Hill Creamery! We use a pasteurization method, known as ultra-high temperature, or UHT. In UHT, we heat the milk to 280° for a minimum of two seconds, which kills more than 99.9% of all bacteria and also produces a significantly longer shelf life when combined with our aseptic packaging. Once the product is opened it must be refrigerated and used within 7 days or by the Best Buy Date, whichever comes first. Hope that helps!

can this product be diluted with water as I prefer 1% milk?

Thanks for your inquiry. We would not suggest watering the product down. Lower fat milk is made by removing the fat, not diluting the milk with water.
