What's the difference between this system and the dakota alert dcma-2500 driveway motion alert kit, which costs 3-1/2 times as much?

They no longer manufacture the 2500 which is why the price is so high. Go with the 4000 since you soon will not be able to buy components for the 2500. The 4000 receiver is smaller with the addition of a light and is a much better design.

How long does the battery last?

Mine have been working for 16 months without being replaced. And they trigger probably 4 times a day minimum.

On the dakota alert dcma-4000 wireless detector driveway alarm system can the transmitter send signal to two receivers at same time?

OFFERS AN EXPANDABLE ALARM SYSTEM - You can add up to 16 different transmitters to the DCR-4000 Receiver if you wish to monitor a larger perimeter. DCMA-4000 is not compatible with 2500 or 3000 series products.

Can you power this with POE?

Sorry, Power Over Ethernet is not an option. The receiver is powered via a plug in transformer that goes from 110 VAC to 12 VDC.
