When is best time to fertilize hydrangea Bush?

Don't fertilize after August. Fall is the time for hydrangeas to begin preparing for dormancy. Fertilizing at this time may stimulate new growth that will be too tender to withstand the winter. In the South, a late May application and another in July would be about right.

I apply scott's fertilizer on my lawn. when do i safely use this around the dogwood tree so it doesn't interfere with the scott's product or my grass?

Always keep this away or directly off of the root ball. If you have enough room on the bottom of the dogwood, I would apply per the package instructions. I can’t imagine this hurting your grass at such small quantities. Good Luck. 👍🏻

What are the ingredients? I'm comparing against Dr Earth bulb food, which uses fish meal, making it smelly.

I don't 'have the bag in front of me, but there is no bone meal (my personal "won't use") and seems to be be like coarse cat litter with very limited smell. Any smell would be considered perhaps chemical in nature, not fish. I've used this stuff for years and have been very happy
