Though there is no way for the book to cover every problem you encounter in the clinical setting, it has nice generic interventions for major organ systems, which really helps. A large amount of classmates were asking to borrow my book after I was able to finish clinical care plans overnight with the help of this book. You'll really thank yourself (and so will your sanity) for this purchase. Completely worth every penny. Review: Favorite Reference Tool for Nursing Care Plans - This is a large reference book, however this one is the most complete and comprehensive I have found to date. I do have several care plan books - but each one with the exception of this volume is devoted to a nursing specialty. Each nursing diagnosis developed is based on the NANDA International label unless it is otherwise specified. The first chapter covers utilized care plans to individualize and improve care for your patients. It gives you a basic guideline to follow in the development of care plans for your patient. The format is alphabetical starting with Activity Intolerance and ending with Urinary Retention. Subsequent chapters expand on these categories as they are related to the patient's progress through the system i.e., pre- or post-operative care, chemotherapy, integumentary issues, renal and urinary tract issues, etc. The book is very thorough and helped me to understand how the different parts and pieces of a care plan are related and how to develop and execute a care plan that leads to better outcomes for the patient. Great book, I use it alot, the pages are getting dogeared and marked up.
