Will this adapter work with an IBM Model M keyboard? They draw much more power than modern keyboards do.

Works flawlessly with my 1984 IBM Model M clicky. It has a PS/2 cable that plugs directly into this adapter (not the large DIN plug).

Is This an active converter and not a Passive physical adapter which requires that the devices can speak both languages?

It would have to be active. Drawing current from the USB port. It “speaks” both USB and PS/2

I don't know if it would work with an Xbox. Sorry. Ours did not work at all upon arrival, and the seller would not exchange it.
