Topsolar 20W 12V Solar Panel kit Battery Charger Maintainer + 10A PWM Solar Charge Controller +Solar Cable for Car RV Marine Boat 12 Volt Battery Off Grid

I bought this solar panel to trickle charge a car battery in the shed. I use the battery for a 12v lighting system and a small inverter as I have no mains power in there. Its May at the moment and we do have a reasonable amount of sun but I have to say the panel is doing an excellent job of keeping the battery topped up. The panel doesn't have much in the way of mounting brackets, there are simply four holes in the inner surround of metal. It was a bit fiddly but with use of some suitable nuts and bolts I fed the bolts through the holes in the surround, through the wall of the wooded shed and put washers and nuts on the inside. I then put a bead of sealant around the panel to stop the rain dripping down the back. Although fairly generous the leads from the panel to the power controller were not long enough for me so I ended up extending them which is straightforward enough just ensure you get the polarity right. Its worth using good quality wire as thick as that supplied (at least) so you don't get too much of a voltage drop. The power controller isn't the best or the most complex but I found the default settings work fine for my purpose, just follow the instructions to connect everything in the correct order. You can alter the charge voltage and cutout voltage if you wish. The screw fittings for wires on the controller are a little unconvincing but seem OK in practice. At the price point I'm pleased with this panel and I now have exactly the setup I wanted in my shed.

Bought this to set up some lighting in my shed. Fairly straightforward to fit it all together although the instructions are tiny and I had to look up most of the terms. Had to replace the batteries on the wife’s mobility scooter so the old ones will be useful just for lights. So far so good, it all seems to be working OK after a couple of weeks, battery staying charged enough for lights. Made a wooden frame to attach the quite sturdy panel to the side of the shed (not much direct sunlight this time of year but will be in a few weeks time) and put the controller inside. The lead was a bit short so extended it using some 13 amp twin and earth electrical cable which seems to work alright. Overall a good buy for the price and useful as my first foray into a solar power project and my led light strips work fine, who knows I may be expanding it soon!

I have bought a few of these and they seem to work very well I have a couple in my van which aren't used very often and it seems to keep the battery okay

Good product. Poor instructions. The way to wire up the device is not mentioned in the instructions. You can find information in raised black plastic letters on the black plastic body! You need to get the sun to shine off it at the right angle in order to read it.

Once you understand the wiring combination, this is easy to set up and install. My battery was flat, I set it working and one week later (the earliest I got to check it) the battery was fully charged. The system has a regulator to adjust the amount of charge so it doesn’t fry the battery. Would advise anybody looking to purchase to get one immediately 👍

This product is in perfect condition but has stopped working. I would like it replaced as this is an electrical product that carries a UK 1 year guarantee. However I cannot find any links to return this product, therefore I have found myself writing a review to get a conversation going

Fitted to an older yacht. I’ve bought a second one as the performance of the first supplying the starter battery has been superb. The second is for the leisure battery and the plan is to mount them back to back over a cable rail which will reduce efficiency but they have loads of output and aesthetically much better. The solar regulator allows me to check battery status on arrival at boat and the solar panel has kept the battery in tip top condition. USB works perfectly on navionics and phone. All very easy to fit and appears to be weatherproof after several months. Recommend.

This was to replace a damaged panel that had already given a good service. It works with a couple of others to power a home battery charger for phones, laptops, battery powered tools etc.
