After reading multiple reviews (and a number of hobby threads) decided on this lamp with the 10x magnification. The light itself is incredibly bright, especially as we are using it in a room with no overheads. The summer switch allows you to find the perfect brightness and intensity for your project and the time of day. The magnifying glass has a protective plastic cover to ensure it does not get coated or scratched which was a great idea especially if your craft or hobby produces dust or excessive particles. The lense itself does not overly warp or distort or create too much of a fish eye perspective like some of the other options I reviewed mentioned. The light is easy to mount in a desk or surface with a sturdy clamp. The unit is mounted on a multi-pivot arm for easy adjustment. Setup is easy and takes only minutes Overall, incredibly happy with this purchase!!

I like the light and the magnification, but I think that the arm is a little less flexible than I was expecting. I would say make sure the clamp will fit well on whatever Desk you’re gonna use and that the arm will work best if the arm is about half extended. So don’t plan on using this close to the area where your clamp is mounted ( <12 inches or>24”). The magnifier worked well but you probably don’t need 10 X for most things. I got this for working on things like watches. They have lots of small parts. I almost returned it when I figured out how limiting the arm is and how you have to be at just the right area in order to use things like the light in the magnifier at just the right position. I think a light with a table top base instead of a clamp might be a better choice if you need more flexibility on where the light is positioned.

UPDATE: You can read what I previously posted as it is educational with respect to the light. HOWEVER, this light is the brightest (lumens) of its type and KIRKAS is the only vendor making it. I DID like it enough to purchase another one. The vendor also contacted me about the problem, and had sent a brand new replacement, not just parts or send it in for repairs. All of this happened in a very timely and friendly manner - basically it has been an excellent customer service experience for me and everything resolved beyond expectations. As a result, I have updated my review and rating to 5 stars and 100%. It just doesn't get better than this. Highly recommended. In many respects it's not a bad light, but as other reviewers have noted, the construction is a bit flimsy and the clamp finicky although the good point is it can be screwed to the surface for guaranteed stability. My main complaint is that the rotary on/off dimmer switch started to fail after about a year in use. The light blinks off, you have to fiddle with the rotary switch until it decides to work again. It's gotten to the point where it happens every time I use it and for the most part it doesn't work until it decides it wants to come on again. The bad part about this is lighting is the main, daily feature of the lamp. It is a lamp first and foremost, with the handy feature of the magnifier which I also use often - but not as often as I use it for illumination of my work desk. So I might try fiddling with the rotary switch to see if I can get it to work, even if not dimmable, but when I do have to order another light, it won't be another one of these. I might as well try to see if another brand will last longer. Update 7 Aug 2023: One of my many hats is that of an electrical/electronics engineer, so I took the lamp apart to investigate the fault in the rotary dimmer switch. It appears to be a faulty solder joint or broken wire in the transformer soldered onto the circuit board but nothing that is visible, even with the magnification lens of the lamp. It's not worth the effort to take the circuit board apart, so I ordered a new lamp from a different manufacturer. I'll probably keep this one but install in in another location where the lamp is not required as the primary function. It's unfortunate as the 24 watt illumination capacity is not a common spec for mag lamps like these. Very disappointing.

This thing is brighter than expected! Excellent for tiny work. The 10X is plenty strong to magnify clearly. I highly recommend this. The light is adjustable and I even use it as a lamp when not working closeup.

This magnifying lamp was better than I expected. It is a cool lamp--it doesn't heat up what you are working on under it. The lighting temperature is continuously variable in a wide range--that is, there aren't specific settings. You turn a dial to adjust the lighting. It magnifies evenly over the entire lens, not just in the center. I find it very adjustable. The knobs lock it where you want it. So far the clamp is holding the lamp. It does make me nervous as the depth of the clamp is minimal. I would have preferred a table-top base, but chose to purchase the best lamp I could find rather than sacrificing visual acuity for a base. Specifically, the clamp opens to a little bit more than 2". The bottom of the clamp is approximately 1 1/2" from the back of the clamp and the top of the clamp is approximately 1 3/4" from the back of the clamp. I was lucky as those dimensions worked with the metal base of the plastic table I work on. I suggest carefully determining the area that you will need to grip.

This magnifying lamp is an excellent addition to my home desk. It brightens my workspace for evening tasks and provides magnification when needed. I really like it. However, I believe it would be even better if it included a USB connection in addition to the electrical plug.

Post surgery 3 years ago, I need the 10X magnification, I would like a larger reading area. I like the idea that I do not have to hold it. It is easy to use. There is no distortion. It would be nice to cover more than one column of print and I move the page up and down.
