My best pen so far
I highly recommend this pen. I bought this to replace my Ohto smart multi 4 in 1 since it broke. They have similar mechanism but Kentaur uses an extra green ink. This pen has all four business colors I need for drafting notes and sketches. It is the only pen I need. It is thicker than the ohto and the Cross multi 3 which is a good thing. The Ohto was very skinny and took awhile to get used to. I do not think it is for long writing only quick notes. The Cross is the standard Cross size and feels a little better in hand than the Ohto but has only two inks instead of Ohto's three. Both these pens are skinny and do not feel as good as the Kentaur. It is thick but not bulky. The weight and balance is good. It does not take any time to get used to writing. It feels comfortable to use for extended writing. They could make the eraser holder metal and use real carbon fiber. That would make an already high quality pen better. Honestly I waited over a year to buy this because I didn't think it would be as good as my other more expensive pens and did not think I could justify the cost. In reality the pen outperforms all my other pens. I could have saved money buy just buying this pen first. It doesn't feel like a cheap knockoff or low quality chinese import. I am going to use it heacily for daily writing to use up the ink and replace with pentel d1 refills because I like there color quality the best of all pen refills. This pen has good black and blue tones but I do not like the red or green. Green is usually bad for most pens but pentel and ohto's red is better. The Japanese inks are very vivid. I was worried that I would be wasting money buying a pen that was cheaper looking or feeling to the Ohto that I broke but I was wrong. It outperforms all other multi pens with a knock style system even the Rotring 4 in 1. So far the best pens I have found are the Pentel Vicuna and this one. The Vicuna uses a twist system similar to the Cross which is more reliable than a knock system and doesn't rattle. The Vicuna has a 0.5mm lead while this has a 0.7mm. Incra scales require the use of 0.5mm so I will use my Vicuna for that. I own a small Leatherology pen case and I keep the Vicuna and this one in it at my desk and use them both together. With the four main inks used for color coding or business and the two main lead sizes I probably won't use my other pens much except my Papermate Ink joy profiles for when I need to color. Here is a list of other pens I own for comparison: Kentaur multi 5 in 1 (this pen high quality ohto replacement) Ohto multi slim 4 in 1 (discontinued) Ohto multi 3 in 1 (disappointingly light due to aluminum build) Ohto Ceramic Dude () Rotring multi 4 in 1 (just okay) Rotring tikky 3 in 1 (not worth it) Fisher Q4 3 in 1 with stylus (everything broke on mine and finish easily damaged, maybe staedlter has higher build quality) Cross multi tech+ 3 in 1 (twist selector is very reliable, ink is a bit typical of high viscous ballpoints) Pentel Vicuna (uses a twist barrel mechanism to switch components just like the cross) Smttw multi 4 in 1 (ohto knock off) Rotring rapid pro ball point ( a good single point pen with nice heft) Rotring rapid 2.0mm lead holder (matches the pen but writes with a pencil lead similar to #2 hb lead pencil) Graph gear 1000 (mechanical pencil set for drafting, an economical alternative to rotring)

Excellent Multipoint Pen/Pencil With Class and Style
I have long been in search of a replacement pen/pencil for my Yasutomo Y&C, four-point pen and pencil. The requirements were that the pens must be fine point and the pencil needed to be 0.5mm, write smoothly, feel comfortable between my fingers, solid construction, and present an appearance of class and style. This pen has met all but the fine point and 0.5mm; however, the feel, the look, the performance outweigh these requirements. With medium point pens and a 0.7mm pencil, this is a beautiful, elegant pen that writes very smoothly and comfortably. I do wish that it had a 0.5mm pencil, though, as I often use the pencil to sketch draft engineering drawings and I will state that I bought several other multi-point pens with 0.5mm pencils with the hope of modifying this pen. Unfortunately, each had a slightly different construction making impractical to attempt. Overall, I love this pen and plan to purchase more to give them as awards to members of my team. UPDATE: I have purchased two more as planned to be given as part of the overall recognition awards gifts. More will be purchased in the future. I hope that Kentaur will continue to manufacture this pen.

Not the pen’s fault though
So, the pen is nice looking (carbon fiber), a little heavy, and not so easy to handle at times. By that I mean it’s smooth, polished texture makes it tricky to pick it up. I found myself grabbing at it and before I secured it, I had chased it across a counter. I do like this pen even after the red ink gave out a day after I received it, even after the blk ink gave a few days later as I was filling out some info at the post office. I got some D1 Schmidt refills which are rich in color and smooth. Then.... it fell out of my lap to the floor and that seems to have been the death of it. The main button at the top that advances lead and ball points is jammed and it don’t work no more. Not the pen’s fault though. I’m hoping Ken Taur will replace it for me. I also want to add, the pen is not very thick like most multi-pens are, which is nice. I see that the D1 pens are slimmer than others that use different cartridges.

Good looks, weight and functionality. Just don't drop it. Ever.
Love most things about this pen. However, it's not without problems. The screw top kept loosening requiring constant adjustment. Ended up losing it. Customer service gave me a new one but I had to buy erasers to get it. Fine. Dropped it today from about 4 feet on tile floor. The pencil part inside broke. Luckily I don't use the pencil part much but a pen should be sturdy enough to handle that drop. Disappointed.

What I expected, more or less.
I have had cheaper versions of this pen in the past, and found them to be very handy and easy to use. I'm always in the need for more colors, and having a pencil handy if I need one is great. I am very pleased with the overall quality and feel of this pen. It's a little larger than the cheaper versions I've had in the past, but the heft and feel make it worth the extra price in my opinion. It functions flawlessly and I expect to have it for a very long time.

Really wanted to like it
I spent a lot of time with this pen. The first problems I had was with the ink, the black and blue would start to dry up even though there was plenty left. Some days the ink worked fine other days not so well. I attempted to put in a new stick of graphite while following the instructions closely, the mechanical pencil mechanism broke very easily. I will admit that I had brought this pen out in the field and it got a little dusty but that shouldn't permanently damage the pen tip, just like it doesn't permanently damage a 50 cent Bic pen. I really liked this pen at first, the idea is awesome and and when it does work it is very smooth. That being said I bought the older model (rose pink here) and it works great, none of the previous problems and its cheaper!
