For years, I have had these little lanterns at my main house where my daughter and grandson live as well as at my apartment where I now live. These little lanterns just saw us through a hurricane and a 16-hour power outage. I was also able to use them to navigate the hallway and parking lot of my apartment complex in total darkness. Earlier this year, these little lanterns saw me through a 37-hour power outage from a very damaging storm. I am so grateful to have them. They are small, bright, easy to use (all you do is pull up), and easy to move about. Much easier to use than the propane camping lanterns my late husband used to use, and much safer! They are a total live saver.

I purchased the Etekcity 4-Pack LED Lanterns for emergency preparedness, and they have far exceeded my expectations for the price point. If you want a straightforward, reliable light source for storm season, camping, or power outages, this set is hard to beat. It isn't a harsh spot beam; it fills the space evenly. * Batteries Included & Long Battery Life: Having batteries included in the box right out of the gate is a huge plus. They run efficiently on 3 AA batteries, and they last long enough to get you through extended power outages without constantly swapping them out. * Compact & Lightweight: When collapsed, each lantern is about the size of a large mug or smartphone height-wise, making them extremely easy to store in a nightstand, glove box, or backpack. * Clever Storage Cap: The top lid unscrews to reveal a small hidden compartment—perfect for storing spare change, keys, or an extra set of small emergency supplies. Minor Drawbacks: * Non-Rechargeable: Because these run strictly on disposable AA batteries rather than an internal USB-rechargeable battery, you'll need to keep extra AAs on hand for long-term use. * Not Fully Submersible: While the ABS plastic holds up well against light rain and moisture, it is water-resistant rather than waterproof, so don't drop them in a bucket of water. These are FANTASTIC!!! Small, easy to carry, you just pull up the handles and it pops up. A little tap on the top pushes it back down. It gives off quite bright lighting for a small package, it literally lit up an entire room. Can't recommend these enough, so happy with them, I'm buying more to keep around the house for the ever increasing scary power outages. Well done!

I edited this review after submitting once. This review is more generous than the first, after thinking about it. For the money, this lantern is a good value. It is sturdily built and should last many years. I put fresh batteries in mine, just to make sure that wasn't the problem. And it provides.....light. Yes, it does. But the rave reviews it's receiving make it sound like it is much more than it is, in my opinion. It provides enough light for comfortable reading to a distance of about 2 feet. Two of these on a picnic table will give a family enough light for eating. It provides enough light on the trail to keep you from tripping over something, for sure. But that's all. It will not light up a campsite, or even my small bedroom, for that matter. But it depends upon your definition of "lighting up". I have a Coleman 5317 fluorescent tube lantern. It takes 8 D Cells and and it is a lot brighter than this little LED lantern (it better be a lot brighter, at 12V vs. 4.5V), but it gives good reading light to about 3 feet. A 2-mantle Coleman gas lantern blows both of them away. A 2-mantle Coleman gas lantern running full blast (the new ones claim 1100 lumens; this LED lantern I would guess to be less than 200 lumens) is what I consider "lighting up a campsite". So if you own one of those, you know what I mean, and this LED lantern doesn't come close, and neither does my 8-cell Coleman tube lantern. It is really hard to penetrate the darkness unless the light is focused by a good reflector, as in a good flashlight. I'm glad I bought them, because they are good lights for emergencies such as power outages in your home, and I will take one camping with me because it is a good backup. Due to its small size and weight, it's suitable for hikes in the dark, but I have a few single AA cell Cree flashlights that are 1/20th the size, that will throw a lot more light, even on the low setting, for a good 4-5 hours. So, I recommend this buy, as long as you don't expect more than a small, cheap LED lantern can deliver.

Love these. The lanterns are the way to go if and when you need them without having to worry about starting a fire. They are really bright, versatile, sturdy, great for emergencies and come with the batteries to start with. I have them in all of our vehicles and in our emergency house packs. You will not be disappointed with your purchase.

This are out the box ready. Do forget to open the back to get the plastic from the battery. These are great for power outages, camping. They're bright. These do exactly what they say they do. The batteries are in them as stated. Sturdy strong not cheap.

Bright and easy to use and they function very well to light up a room that is dark I don’t know how sturdy they are though but they seem well assembled and sturdy.

Our home loses power frequently and after searching for a while for lanterns that actually light up the room I bought these. They are absolutely perfect! They are very easy to operate and I'm amazed at how bright they are. I loved them so much I bought a set for my parents. My parents had a question about the battery placement, and when they contacted customer service, the owner replied immediately. The customer service was phenomenal, which is rare these days. I highly recommend the Etekcity lanterns!

I bought these for my elderly parents in law during a power cut when they lost light, heating and cooking. Candles were too much of a fire hazard. Hopefully when they have another power cut these will help light each room. They have a compartment in the top to store the batteries when not needed which is very helpful and they close down to a very manageable size to store. They are metal and not plastic and so feel sturdy when unscrewing the battery compartment etc. I liked them so much I have ordered some for myself and now my mother wants some too.

These led lanterns are extremely good and I would highly recommend them. If you have a power cut and you want to use something for light quickly and conveniently then choose these led lanterns as they are very easy to use. The batteries are very easy to take out and replace if needed so the product is designed very well and each lantern provides more than enough light.
