As a Firearms and Safety Instructor, self-defense is important to me. Less than Lethal devices should be part of your self-defense plan. There are times when deadly force is not warranted but a first fight is not in your favor. Pepper spray is a great tool to meet that need. This device is not for carring around with you, it is designed for a home defense.Sabre Red is what a large number of police carry. If it is good enough for them, it is good enough for you.Things that I like:1) The body involuntarily acts to pepper spray. This means even if the person is high on drugs, their body will react.2) This product works at a distance (about 20'). In other words I don't have to be within arms reach of them.3) It is a larger size so it will give you a lot of shots so if you have several attackers in your home, it should last.4) It comes with a holder that you can mount to the wall to make it easy to get to.You need to be mindful that kids can gain access to this. To help prevent honest kids for messing with it, it has two features that help prevent curious minds. There is a safety pin that is zip tied into place. The zip tie can be easily broken when you need it. The other is a plastic yellow "button" that sits in front of the thumb trigger. When activated for the first time, that button will break off.This is a gel product as compared to a Fog or stream. There is splatter, but it should be easier to clean up in the home if something were to happen. Cleaning this carpets/drapes etc will be a challenge, but that is a small price to pay.I highly recommend this product.Always get training for any of these devices and consider personal protection insurance as well.Stay safe!

I LOVE IT! Haven't had a chance to use it but wow this thing is big and you feel safe with it. I wish I could take it with me while I walk my dog at night. It needs a side holster like dog the bounty hunter has. I have great confidence in this red pepper gel gun. Lets just call it a gun. I don't want to own a gun, so this was a good choice. I have a Brooklyn cold steel bat and a collapsible baton as well. If I ever do use this, I plan on using the bat or baton on them as well. I wont be running away after spraying like they recommend. I will be drenching the person with this stuff. My first experience with mace gel was in 2013 when I was using it on my pit bull who I took in as a stray and who was mauling my other dog months later after taking him in (that's why I walk him at night because he is serving a life sentence in a separate area away from the others). I had a can of mace I bought at a garage sale and I ended up getting some on my hand and WOW, that stuff stung me all day into the night. on my hand?? I thought it only affects the eyes?? if it can do that much to your skin, I can only imagine what it does to the face and eyes. After that incident I seriously do not believe anyone could be immune to this stuff. And if they are, I plan on using this stuff on their private areas and we will see if Mr. Johnson is immune to pepper gel. Just pull their pants down and spray. They wear their pants down and baggy anyway right?? so it shouldn't be hard to do it. If you look at the youtube videos of people spraying themselves in the face they are always on their knees begging for water. Even the most strong men with muscles. I saw a video of them spraying a military guy and I swear to god that guy didn't get enough spray on his face and you can tell by the video and they made it look like he was able to take it and do his drills. RIGHT I believe it suuure. I seriously doubt us regular people would encounter robbers or trouble makers who are immune to this stuff. Or military special force men like steven segal characters who probably use this stuff as a topping on their tacos. But like I said earlier, I have a baton and a Brooklyn cold steel bat I bought on amazon as well to use with this stuff as a secondary weapon after spraying them. I cant shoot anyone nor would I think I could live with knowing I took another life with a gun, so this pepper gel gun makes me feel even safer at home. I think I will buy another one to keep in another area. I will look for a side holster for this gun, but so far haven't had any luck. I cant believe this gun isn't allowed in some states. They allow guns, but not this?? doesn't make sense.

We purchased the Sabre 13oz home defense gel in June 2017 and have kept it by the bedside ever since. Last night (2/26/19) we had an intruder in the house. Like many others here, I will also attest to the effectiveness of this spray. He was basically incapacitated within seconds, unable to do much more than scream and thrash around. The gel did not get in the air so I was unaffected. After wrestling him out the front door, he remained on the front porch for about 5 minutes, screaming, cussing and thrashing about until the police showed up and arrested him. The police were impressed by the effectiveness of the spray as well.Some recommendations now that I've had to use this in a real-life situation:1. Keep a pair of clear safety glasses next to the spray. I got a little bit of the gel on my face and arms during the tussle with the intruder. If it had gotten in my eyes I could have been in the same boat.2. After you buy this stuff, make sure you take the time to get to know how to use it. It's pretty simple but you won't have much time to react so you don't want to be fumbling for the pin or trigger.3. This stuff wipes away pretty easily with paper towels and soap/water. Don't forget to wear latex/vinyl gloves!4. We're buring several odor-neutralizing candles to help get rid of the pepper smell from the house. Consider having a couple on hand in the event you ever have to use this stuff in your house.5. Take care showering after using this, especially around your eyes and nose. Even the small traces of the gel that you might get on you can cause a pretty good burning sensation for a while afterwards, and the humidity of the shower seemed to make it more pervasive.So I am definitely recommending this product, and re-ordering today!!!

I have had this product for several years and usually take it with me on walks with my 7 and 9 pound dogs--just in case. I am disabled and use a walker with the dogs leashed to the handles so it is easy to carry in the seat pocket. This morning, two huge dogs (>80 pounds) came out of nowhere and attacked--one grabbed the 7 pound dog and the other attempted to get the 9 pound dog who was trying to hide under the walker. I grabbed the spray, which I had never even tried out, and sprayed the one with my dog in its mouth. Needless to say, it let go. The other ran off and then started to run back and I sprayed him at a long distance--very accurate and no blowback. Several neighbors came running out, but could do nothing because of the size of the dogs, and no one had any idea where they came from. However, all were impressed with the effectiveness and range of the spray, and several planned to order for home defense. My tiny dog got sprayed, but I washed him off and he has shown no ill effects. I am buying another for my bedroom. Wow!

Awesome Home Defense Love It For Hiking Camping Walking

I got this pepper gel after a big dog hit my front wheel while I was cycling. Bad wreck. My old vinegar and pepper filled water bottle would not fling the mix far enough to keep him away when he got the angle on me from the front. I put a beer coozie on the bottom half of the spray bottle and then shoved it in a sawed-off water bottle and put it in my spare bottle rack. Works great. The gel is thick enough that it won't come back on you if you spray it out front. It started out spraying over 20 feet, but as the fluid level has gone down the distance has reduced to about 12 feet and is a little wider spray pattern. I hate spraying a dog, and usually try to stop and see if they will back off, but it feels much safer to know that you have some real protection if a pack of dogs or one determined big one really comes after you.

Never had to use it, hope to never have to either.

I bought several pepper spray devices made by sabre to test out their efficacy. I bought the home and away kit, the home defense model and this one. The main reason was for use by my girlfriend and other women in the family. We tested all four, and this one was quite impressive.Comparing this 13 oz pepper spray to the smaller versions is a bit unfair, but it gives a bit of context to review it. The small cans were either stream or foam, this one was a fogger. Boy! what a difference. I feel like this one was by far the easiest for us all to aim. It just burst out of the nozzle in a wide cone like pattern. I feel like in a stressful scenario, one could use it accurately and effectively and would easily cover a larger area. It also lasts a long time, we all tried it and it still seems to be half full if not more.I am planning on purchasing several for our houses. Very nice, accurate, cheap and non lethal. The women especially felt more comfortable using this option against someone in the home, as opposed to a gun. This product is very impressive!
