It's been four months since Nicky Roth has seen his best friend and neighbor, Aaron Peterson. Aaron's father, a reclusive theme park designer, told the town that Aaron and his sister Mya are living with a relative far away, but Nicky can't seem to accept it. Plagued by terrifying nightmares of robotic mannequins, rotting theme parks, and a dark basement, Nicky teams up with his friends from school to find out what really happened to Aaron and Mya. Together, they start piecing together a picture more disturbing than they could have imagined. The screams coming from the neighbor's house can't be nothing, and Nicky is determined to get to the bottom of where his friends went, and what-if anything-can be done to save them. This pulse-pounding prequel novel to the hit video game Hello Neighbor includes two-color illustrations throughout, to help readers unwind the mystery at the heart of the game. A Great Book
It's been over a month I purchased this book, and it was excellent. The ending of it was a thriller. Couldn't just wait to order book 3. In this book Nicky and team keep the search on for Mya and Aaron who may be found in the book 3. I would recommend everyone to purchase this after book1.

10-year-old daughter says 5 stars!
She said it's a great mystery: you have to look for clues and have to really think. "You can think this is why, but then it's not why!" ... She got excited when I asked her just now what her opinion on the book was. She is an avid, but PICKY reader. As a mom and teacher, it is always so rewarding to find a book my children love to read. Highly recommended for tweens.

Keeps you interested for sure
This is a great book, but you should read the first part to the little series first for it to make sense. Missing Pieces is the first book. My son is a big reader& was stuck on Captain Underpants from age 4-8 so I was happy he found new books he enjoys. Unfortunately I’ll be sending this back if I don’t find somebody to gift it to as I didn’t realize my son had this book, I thought it was the 3rd part. But if your child or yourself is a fan of Hello Neighbour you won’t be disappointed. I actually found myself wanting to keep reading, this book/author knows how to keep you interested, always feeling like your close to finding out some key piece of information to make everything make some sort of sense. You’ll enjoy the book

Good follow on story
I love this book, filled with new characters, new plans and of course new terrors! It’s a fantastic continuation of the first book and fits neatly into the game’s cannon. My only issue is that it isn’t longer!

Amazing Extension of current hello neighbor canon
I read this book all in one day and oh my goodness. This is only the second in the series and yet I’m convinced it’s the best so far. The characters in this series are very relatable despite it being a horror novel. One of the characters in this book to me, felt slightly underwritten, but I was more or less satisfied with her. Waking Nightmare is great because it gives you hints to the story of the game hello neighbor. Even though this is a video game book, I would recommend Hello Neighbor: Waking Nightmare and the first book: Missing Pieces, to anyone who likes a decent book
