EK Tools Large Circle Crafting Punch, 2.25 inch, Silver, with Safety Lock, create perfect Circles for Handmade Cards, Scrapbooking, Gift Tags, Invitations, Decorations, and More

I bought this EK Tools 2-inch circle punch to make my own espresso basket filters from Chemex paper. I use a Breville Barista Express, but the punched circles do not fit any of the stock baskets that came with my machine. They fit my aftermarket 53 mm baskets extremely well, so basket compatibility should be checked before purchasing. The punch feels solid and produces clean, consistent circles without tearing or leaving rough edges. The finished filters lay flat inside compatible baskets without curling or bunching, and using the punch is much easier than trying to cut circles by hand. The upfront cost is definitely higher than just buying premade espresso filters. The advantage is that the punch is reusable, and over time you are not stuck buying whatever paper quality, thickness, or brand happens to be available in premade circles. You can experiment with different filter papers and choose exactly what works best for your espresso setup. That flexibility is really what makes the tool worth owning.

Works great! Exactly what I need. I use this to cut " Incense Burner Holder Heat-resistan Insulating mat Round Cotton" which I also purchased from Amazon. I gives a nice, easy, clean cut. Also, it's pretty heavy duty and feels solid with a good weight to it.

Perfect. A true 1/2 hole cutter and not one that was rounded to nearest fraction in a metric conversion like so many others do. Thank you for preserving our standard measurements.

Exactly the size I needed but the edges don’t come out clean. Not a big deal if you don’t mind that or trim a little. Most of the edges are passable but there can be a little variation to the round shape when cutting. I’m thinking it’s probably because these aren’t very sharp and rely more on a quick hard press to punch the hole. I would not recommend more than index card thickness and no more than one sheet at a time or they won’t cut through and can get stuck which will ruin what you’re cutting. Sometimes it ruins an area around the circle punch and so I’d punch your circles out a little distance away from each other. It doesn’t work well on acetone plastic sheets at all.

Update: I just got the replacement and opened it up and used it on a thin slice of paper. It would not close. It did not hold punch, and now it will not close at all. This is the second defective one this week. I have no idea what's going on. I will never buy this again. Some people are having wonderful luck with this, but I've had two in a row that will not punch a hole in a piece of paper. They won't even shut. I think there's something wrong with this batch that was produced. Maybe if I wait a year and order again it might work, but I'm not going to do that. I'm not ordering one of these models ever again. OP: I love the size and the ability to punch a hole at 2.25", but mine arrived defective. I opened the lock, it opened. I went to punch a hole in cardstock and it wouldn't close / punch. It is jammed open, unable to punch. I tried really hard to close it to put it back in the box, but I can't. I hope my replacement works!

This worked great to cut out large circle labels from cardstock. I like how it locks as well.

Fantastic product. The price is really good for such a high quality item. It is really easy to use especially if you have dexterity problems. I find the EK Success punches and the Stampin Up punches are the best ones to use because you don't have to put too much pressure on them to punch cardstock. I have been using punches for several years and I would definitely recommend EK Success punches, I use this punch nearly every day and I haven't had any problems with it. I am slowly replacing my other brands of punches (because they are too heavy and bulky) with EK and Stampin Up punches because they are so easy to use, both brands are all stackable and take up far less storage space.
