Mirage-T 50 Liter / 13.2 Gallon Touchless Rectangular Motion Sensor Trash Can, Brushed Stainless Steel Finish

Wishes: Would be nice if it was a few inches taller to make up for the smaller base perimeter, but the size difference is not a huge issue. Lack of a separate inner can makes it a little harder to get a stuffed full bag out of the can We bought this because our stainless steel step can was a little too wide to fit in the space where it works best in our kitchen. The color is perfect with our stainless appliances. If it was about 3 inches taller, the size would be perfect but it's still really good. Not a dealbreaker at all. We pull the bag out and empty our smaller cans from around the house into it, clean science projects out the frig, and take out a full bag. This can has a plastic ring to hold the bag in place instead of a full inner plastic can. It works well; the bag never slips. You can wrap the top of the bag around the ring before you put the the ring onto the rim of the can and it will hide the edges of your bag from view. Or you can wrap the bag around the rim of the can and set the ring down on top, which is little simpler but a few inches of the top of the bag will be visible. Our old step can had a full plastic inner can with air holes in the sides so that it hid the bag edge, and when the bag is very full we could still pull it out of the can easily by pulling the whole plastic inner can out. This one will form a suction between the bag and can if the bag is stuffed too full because the stainless steel exterior isn't as flexible as plastic. If you stuff it too full you can rip the bag trying to pull it out. You just have to pull it out slowly and gently, or not stuff it down so that the bag is super full when you pull it out. Not a big deal to us, just something to know. The batteries have lasted two and a half months and no sign they're dying. We use store brand batteries. We thought we might use rechargeable batteries for this, but don't think that will be required. The motion detector works really well, even in the pitch dark. You just have to get used to making a slight motion over the electronic eye as you walk up to the can. It's a small subtle motion that becomes habit pretty quickly. The sensitivity is good. It continues to detect motion as you interact with it so if you stand there and feed things in it doesn't close on you. Also, if you touch the word Open on sensor area it stays open until touch the word Close. It's easy to keep clean. Our old one had a hinge setup on the inside that trapped bits of trash and it was hard to clean that without taking it outside and hosing it down. This one is easy to keep clean in the areas above/around the bag. Overall we highly recommend this trash can. It was not dirt cheap, but the price is reasonable considering the quality.

Okay, I love this garbage can (and who loves a garbage can) but I have extra requirements because I live in an apartment, I have seven (7) bird feeders and every day I have to clean the feeders, clean the guardrails and keep my terrace from smelling. Birds are fun but gross and I clean everything with paper towels. I have automatic soap dispensers and automatic garbage cans to limit the contact and alleviate the need for me to clean my entire kitchen every day. This automatic garbage can is great. You have several different ways to open it, you can put your had over the sensor and open it each time you come in from the terrace or you can touch the touch the first button and the lid stays open. I know most of these automatic cans do that but the majority have you physically open the lid your self which is actually a draw on the battery and in the end will kill a battery. This can has a setting for it, and it really helps. Waiving my hand over the sensor while carrying paper towels full of bird poo would not be the most sanitary moves. Another thing I really like is the sensor. Motion detection is not as trigger happy as all the other (seven) automatic garbage cans I have owned, it actually triggers from the back instead of the front so you do not get as many spurious lid opening, which I find really annoying and again, deplete those batteries. Noise level is almost nil. Build quality is amazing, shipping was excellent and you can see the designers have thought this can out a lot. It has a rubber bottom with some weight to it and does not slide around my kitchen which is excellent as it sits at the opening to my kitchen. Physically it is narrow enough so it does not impede foot traffic and it sits against my wall without traveling (that rubber bottom). The on/off switch is in back and easy to get to. The battery compartment has a button that must be turned to open to get to the batteries. Each battery has its own space with guides so the batteries go where they belong and do not move. I find this ingenious and there are so many complaints out there about the batter compartment. The can arrived in pristine condition with no scratches, dents or surface marks. Manufacturers supply you with ten EKO trash bags and they are right, those bags fit perfectly and in the end cost less because you can use the entire bag. I did try Glad and Hefty first and they did not work as well. The only thing I would comment on is the the battery housing is larger than average and the physical opening into the can is smaller than most but I have to honest, I don't care. This motion sensor can is really well designed.

I never thought I would buy a self opening & this pricey of a garbage can. I can’t believe how much I love this piece. I’m getting back surgery in January & due to the nerve damage down the legs & in feet have been having trouble using the step functions on a regular can. I was constantly tripping so actually bought this for more of a safety issue for me. I also need surgery on my elbow for nerve damage in my hand (so much fun getting old lol) and with this I can use both hands to hold any garbage & no longer dropping items around the old can. Having said that, now that I have this can I would buy it even if I wasn’t having these issues. It’s beautiful & holds so much more garbage than my old round one. This model comes with 12 of the EKO white garbage bags but as others have stated the Costco ones fit perfectly. I haven’t used the deodorant compartment yet, I’ll have to see how much odor the garbage gives off since this one holds so much more than our old one. I’ve only had it a few days so will update if there are any issues. It is pricey but it’s worth every penny. You won’t be disappointed! Thank you EKO for this quality product. Update February 2025: Still working perfectly. Because this trash can holds so much more garbage than my old round one I did find more odor about 3/4 full but only noticed when I opened the can. Closed it does seem to hold the odor in. I decided to try the odor control pads which definitely help so I don’t have to change the garbage bag until it’s full. You don’t really need them but I do like them as I’m sensitive to smells. I am also using the EKO trash bags provided as I wanted to see how they performed and they are a strong bag. There is no stretch to them (as with the Costco bags) but they fit like a glove and have yet to get a rip in any of them. Once I’m out of my costco bags I will be buying the EKO trash bags as they are stronger than the costco ones. When taking the garbage bag out there is no ‘suction’ as what would happen with my old round can and I would struggle pulling the bag out. These bags come out very easily which doesn’t seem like a big deal to some but with my back issues not having to struggle with getting the bag out is a big plus for me. Quality product all the way around. Very, very satisfied with these purchases and highly recommend. Update February 2026: Still working perfectly and still looks brand new. Quality, Quality product. Highly recommend EKO!!!
