110 Folding Hunter Lock-back Knife, Brass Bolsters, Ebony Handles, 3-3/4" 420HC Clip Point Blade with Leather Sheath

As a strict adherent to "Value above all else" when it comes to shopping I almost always take my time when considering a new product to purchase. I have for months now been searching for a good, reliable folding blade in the 2.5 to 4.0 inch range and decided to settle on the Buck. Of course, this was after mulling over other brands such as Cold Steel, Spyderco, Bear & Son, and various others. It was easy to find blades to like in those other lines but there was always something nagging me away. Cold Steel products, while flashy and ostensibly quite durable if their videos are to be believed, were a bit on the expensive side and of course now being outsourced to other countries for manufacture. I wasn't sure if I wanted a bone-handled knife from Bear & Son and I wasn't quite "struck" with any of the other knives I happened to view. Of course, I read many folks' reviews on all the knives and there was the requisite brand loyalty flourishing throughout, rants on gimmicky additions to more current styles, and of course no consensus on what constituted a perfect folder. I chose the 110 for one very simple reason. It was $35. And if the quality wasn't there as the reviews suggested...well, I'd be out a nice steak dinner. *** Here is what I like about the knife: -Heft. Some may see this as a detriment but one thing I've always liked about good 'ol USA products is their weight. I see weight as a sign of quality, in most things at least, and it is applicable here. I've never felt like I was going to break, bend, twist or contort the Buck regardless of the application I was using it for. -Sharpness. As others before me have said, this thing comes out "shaving sharp" or any other superlative you can think of. I had many minutes of fun dragging the 110 blade across numerous envelopes, newspapers, and other paper waste when I first got it. Of course, the ever popular "arm hair" test was done and I was sans a nice patch of hair on the forearm for a period of time. -Style. Now some may not like the spartan look and features of the 110, to me however, there is an elegance to the simplicity. There are no fancy gimmicks or additions. What we have here is a solid lockback folder. -The Warranty. Lifetime. 'Nuff said? Well, perhaps not quite. It is a very good warranty (Lifetime) but they will not honor it if you try some DIY repair or are using it to carve faces into rocks. Just check the website, I don't know that I've found a better warranty (Lifetime) yet. -It was $35. For me, quite easy to justify a purchase for something that should, and has if you're inclined to believe other reviews, last for years to come. *** I seem to recall a reviewer grousing about finding it cheaper elsewhere. This person should have bought another that day and been happy to have two great knives for less than $60. Joy could have been brought to an outdoors-man family member. At the end of the day, you shouldn't feel bad about pulling the trigger on a knife like this. You may lack some of the features found on other more expensive knives but if what you're looking for is a sharp, dependable and no-nonsense knife, you've found it here.

Just received this knife. It is a classic, as it is said over the internet. It's very sharp and heavy (for a folder). Looks great. I am also very impressed by the packaging box with a USA flag. For me, this is a knife for collection as it has a long history. And it's definitely worth it.

I gave 5 stars because its a buck knife. Its well made and very sharp and has a well made leather sheath, the locking mechanism works flawless plus it holds a amazing warranty. What i didn't care for was late delivery due to address issue according to USPS and mixed messages USPS said it was sent back to sender but they dropped it off the next day with no issues..

This knife is a thing of beauty. I am a nostalgic man, and I am already dreaming of handing down this knife to my daughter one day, as it will surely outlast me. Buck makes a fine knife and this is their flagship. When you hold this knife in your hand you don't want to put it down, it just feels so nice in your hand. The blade is beautiful in and of itself. Buck uses a 440 High Carbon steels for this knife, which I believe is proprietary to Buck. It is renown for holding an edge exceptionally well. The Knife I received was extremely sharp out of the box. I really like the semi-sharpened spine on the back of the blade too. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems like it would great with a firesteel. The knife I received had very little side to side wiggle, which is a sign of a quality knife. The locking mechanism is solid and simply to use. When open, it feels like you're holding a fixed blade knife. The sheath is great as well, and you need a sheath for this knife. It is large and uncomfortable to hold in a pocket. On your belt however, it sits great in the sheath and I forget it is there. I wanted a brown leather sheath for mine as it suits me better, so I picked up one on here for about $27. It a a little expensive, but knowing that I am going to have this knife for the rest of my life, I wanted the sheath to suit my style. I received a 50th anniversary edition of the knife and I am so glad I did. It's got a beautiful 50 years emblem on the wood handle. There is a reason this knife has been around for 50 years - they are beautiful, incredibly functional, built to last, and made in America. I would gladly buy this knife again and again, but luckily I won't have to - this knife will still be going like a champ long after I'm gone, especially considering Buck's great 4Ever warranty (though I doubt I'll ever need it). If you are not sure about this knife, trust me and purchase it. It is worth every penny, and from the moment you take it out of the box you will be in love with this knife.

I read a lot of reviews both really good and some really bad. I had already ordered the buck 110 folding hunter knife before I read reviews because of it's past reputation. I really wanted to support their company because they are American made. After reading 20 or 30 bad reviews I became concerned. Many were saying Buck is not the same quality as it was in the past. I thought well if that's the case I'll just send it back as soon as I get it. To my joyful surprise it was almost flawless. I did oil it thoroughly and move it back and forth until it moved smoothly. All is well now and I am very pleased with my new buck 110. Oh, one more thing the sheath is a nice sheath but I would prefer an American made one. I think buck should sell the knife with a made in America sheath. I believe customers would be willing to pay extra for American craftsmanship. " Great job Buck employees"

Trust me when I tell you that this price for a brand new Buck 110 folding hunter is unheard of!! Best price out there as it retails from Buck for about $70.00 give or take a couple of bucks. Next: When you take this knife out of the box and feel it in your hand for the first time you will know what quality workmanship is and never own another brand of knife again. It feels like it was made just for your hand. I have never felt a more high quality, better balance, heavy duty cutting tool in my life. Heavy duty but not bulky or "too much" for the hand...just perfect. It comes more than razor sharp and with a mirror polish. The heavy leather sheath is hand made in Mexico (just as excellent leather workers as Americans and I come from a family of Scottish and German-American leather workers) and is ready for a long life and will take all the punishment on the job or in the field you can give it. I'd still use some high quality leather treatment to weather proof it to extend it's life but it comes well treated. I've owned Cold Steel, Benchmark, CRST, Gerber...none of them measure up to this knife or the other Buck I own (A fixed blade Pathfinder). I'll never own another Knife after seeing the quality of Buck knifes. ALSO: A lot of people complain about how they were just throwing their new buck around and Oh my the tip broke off and that's proof that Buck ain't that good!!! Hey, Buford! Read the paperwork that comes with the knife or the specs on the web site: This is a cutting tool...don't throw your Buck knife. If you don't use it the way it was made to be used don't expect things to go wrong...and you also void the warranty. A buddy of mine that passed away recently was a Viet Nam combat veteran who carried a Buck Special and a Buck 110 Folding Hunter from his first tour in Viet Nam in 1967 all through his life and left his collection of Buck Knives (including the two mentioned above) to his oldest son who now uses them for hunting and such just like his dad did. That's 45 years of service. I think that's worth the $29.00 asking price. Hell; it's worth the $70.00 but I'm glad I found the one here instead:)

What have I been missing, all these years with cheap knock-off folding knives. I lost my pocket knife recently, and after a bit of researching, decided to get what was purported to be the very best - the BUCK locking knives. And I am so happy with this choice. It's truly head and shoulders above the rest I've ever seen. Buck has many models to pick from, so my choice came down to price/size. I wanted one that would be legal to carry in ALL states (which, as far as I know, the limit on size is 4" blade in every state, although I do believe NYC has a 2" limit.) And I wanted to keep the cost under $30. And it had to be a locking knife, I happen to be fond of my fingers :) This is a beautiful knife. Smooth, well-polished, tight, sharp. I've always loved the wood & brass type knives. It's so pretty I don't know that I want to scuff it up actually using it! :) I'm dinging it 1 star for how HARD it is to close, although I can see this as a feature not a bug - as I'd rather have to work at closing it than have it close accidentally. BTW, for the people complaining about the sheath. The smell is the boot-black polish. The rivet is now covered with a thin piece of leather sewn in. The only problem I have about the sheath will bleed polish/dye if it gets wet. But this is true of just about any leather. I wasn't planning to use the sheath anyway, I didn't realize it even came with a sheath until the package arrived :) Overall, very happy with this knife. It's well worth the price to get the best.

First let's go over th thangs that's great about this knife. First a all it's made in th good ole USA!. Now we buy sum thangs thats foreign; if their good why not? But why go lookin for somethin somewhere else thats done best here. And folkz, makin good pocket knives is one of em. Buck has always made good knives and they're still doin it. We bought this one for th youngest son. He needed a birthday gift, we all love knives and so when I saw th price on this one we had ta have it. Now ours didn't come with the 50 stamped on it for 50th anniversary. That ain't a big deal for us. We ain't real fond a "commemorative" s*** anyway. You know th stuff I'm talkin about; eagles swoopin, flags floppin, twin towers a fallin and all that George Bush 'murcan s***. Now don't get me wrong! If ya want a collectible ya couldn't go wrong with this one. Its a beautiful knife. Th fittins is polished well, th "wood grain" is beautiful and th blade's polished to a t. But bein who we are we buy for function as well as form. Everbody loves good tools but if yer gone have a tool buy a good one. This is a good one. Now its one big knife. Yer probably not gone want ta tote it in yer pocket but in the sheath it comes with on yer belt. By th way beaners make good functional leather sheaths. There ain't nothin flashy about this sheath. It's clean and slim. Now it's made a that 420 HC steel and th consensus a th reviews we read is that it's a good high carbon (HC) compromise between tough and hard. We'll have ta see. One thing we ain't gone do is use it in th machine shop. A knife with a tip like this ain't made for that. We probably gone use it around th homestead for horticulture stuff, good graftin and layerin knife, and skinnin and cleanin small animals. It's big enough for small animals but it ain't big enough for deer and thangs like that. We'd want a longer blade for that. But this ain't no kids knife! Its long big and heavy enough ta do th tasks it was built ta do. Jest don't stress that tip. Not only does it feel good and heavy in yer hand but it got that wonderful Buck guarantee. For certain tasks or even if ya jest want ta look spiffy with a fine lookin knife on yer belt ya can't go wrong. Only thang is if ya want ta look spiffy ya better be tall, thin and good-lookin like my youngest son!!!

After all these years I decided to buy an original. I was sceptical about getting a fake but with some research I dived into it. What a buy. I went for one that was offered at a lower price and totally satisfied with what I received. Such a solid build and quality is second to none. A handy tool to have and have used it for a number of things. Looked super cool in using it for my steak in one of our camping trips. Unless a bigger job comes up, this is all I need. Super happy!
