Grafix Plastic, Durable and Archival Film, Perfect for DIY Crafts, Stencils, Journals, Cards, 3D Embellishments, and More (Opaque White, 12"x12"x0.010")

I converted .01" to microns and found this is 254 microns thick. I did this to compare to Yupo and NARA which have different thicknesses. There are some inexpensive Nara papers, but this is thicker. I have used this for two alcohol ink paintings and found it to be less staining than Yupo, but I like the staining quality of Yupo for backgrounds better. It is easier to wipe the slate clean with this paper, so that's a plus. Each paper will have different uses. Also, I had some trouble with blowing this with an airbrush, but next time will try wiping down the page with alcohol first. Also, I wonder if both sides are useable. One seems glossier/smoother than the other, or is that my imagination? Again, I'll do more experiments. I do like the price of this quite a bit, and it will be my go-to paper for practicing techniques. Also, I'll get the 12x12 and cut it up to make some color swatches which I always do with any medium, watercolors, colored pencils, etc. Makes it easier to choose colors. I also like that this is archival like Yupo. I couldn't find any info on Nara papers being archival on their website or descriptions. I posted a question, so perhaps it's hidden somewhere and I'll find it. Non-archival paper will yellow in about 10 years, so I always consider that.

Super nice sheets of plastic. They're not advertised as laser cutter compatible, but I tested them and they are! I did the "chlorine test" with these, melting some onto some copper, and then putting the copper into a flame. It did not burn green! So it is safe to use with laser cutters! So I made a stencil on my laser cutter, using the engrave setting to burn lots of tiny dots (like a wire mesh), and the plastic mostly did well, but got a little melty, had some warping in areas that have a lot of engrave heat on them, so be sure to hold down the edges of your piece before lasering! Grafix recommends their "Dura-Lar Film" for laser cutting, so I think for this Clear Craft Plastic, using laser cutter is maybe "off use" - if I had to guess, maybe because of the warping. Giving this 5 stars because it's great plastic, for most people. For laser, I'll give it 3 stars because of the warping, but that could be my settings and inexperience. :)

Great product - I was looking for .50MM .020 inch plastic sheets that could cut perfectly with a laser cutter and these worked perfectly. The materials is well made. For those interested - cut on 100% power, 250mm/s and 3 passes if using the Xtool P2 CO2 laser. I did not get any burnt edges. I leave the film on. great item

Making some paint stencils on my Cricut Maker 3 with these plastic sheets. Reviews here (and youtube tutorials) say to use this, one of the wood material settings and the knife blade. I tried that and totally failed after 10 passes and over and hour of cutting. Then I tried to use the posterboard material setting with the stock fine point blade (someone here mentioned posterboard). And it cut PERFECTLY (a fairly detailed stencil) in about 3 minutes (2 passes). Maybe it'll dull my blade quickly, I don't know..but my first cut with this setting was fast and easy. Thinner material than I expected, but sturdy enough for my use.

This stuff is a dream for alcohol inks!

The quality is good, almost identical to yupo paper, and the value is excellent! You get more bang for your buck. I use these plastic sheets for alcohol ink art and it works perfectly. Each sheet is strong, fairly thick and sturdy, although flexible as well. I love the large 12" x 12" size. If you're on a budget but need good quality paper for alcohol-based mediums, this is a great choice! By the way, to get all the tiny dots, I sprayed the sheet using a spray bottle filled with 90% isopropyl alcohol. I didn't know exactly what to expect, but it worked like a charm!

We had some electric landscape lighting installed a couple weeks ago, and noticed that the LED bulbs were VERY bright and blinding as-is. We thought that maybe there was a little light-diffusing insert that we may have accidentally tossed with the packaging, but it turns out that is the way they were designed. Weird. Anyway, I'm my father's daughter and started thinking up some solutions that might work to diffuse the light. I picked up these .007 plastic sheets (sheets, plastic sheets) and ordered separately ALZO white nylon silk diffusion fabric. I cut a square of fabric the size of one of these sheets (12"x12", I think), and used spray adhesive to get the fabric to adhere to the sheet of plastic. From there, I cut a little curved template out that would fit down inside the "cage" that sits around our light. It worked PERFECTLY for what I intended it to do. It's heavy enough to maintain it's shape, but thin enough that I was able to curl it around inside the light. The way the tops screw on the lights, we were able to just drop these little guys in and replace the caps. Voila! No more blinding bulbs! This would also be great for stencils or screen printing. Since I only needed 2 sheets out of the pack, I think I may make some templates for my fingernails. This will help to ensure I can cut my Jamberry nail wraps to the perfect size every time!

I had seen where people were using this in their Silhouette Cameos to cut out stencils. I have had the hardest time trying to get them to cut...HERE'S WHY? I'd been using the blade that has been in my machine for about three years. I don't do a lot of cutting, that's going to change now because I've started making cards. YOU MUST HAVE A NICE SHARP BLADE, PREFERABLY A NEW ONE! I didn't realize how dull my blade was, but I had an unused one so I changed to a new blade and VOILA! it cut right through...in fact I cut a hole in my mat. I was just cutting a 1/4" square to see if I could make it through and I still had my blade set at 10, so it cut through the plastic and the mat. I changed the blade depth to 5 and it cut almost all the way around a design, but a few spots didn't cut and made getting the stencil out a little difficult. This is rather thin plastic and a little on the fragile side, so you want the blade to do all the work and not have to bend or damage the plastic manually. I changed the multi-pass to 3 times and it worked like a charm. Pulled up the plastic sheet and the stencil stayed on the mat, one piece and was easy to remove with the metal spatula. Since I'm going to be making 6" x 6" stencils each sheet of this plastic will give me 4 for a total of 100 stencils out of the 25 sheets...a bargain! I had a play with this paper and alcohol inks. A really fun and easy paper for this. I also used it to create some masks from some dies in my stash. I didn't have some basic shapes I wanted to work with and this 'plastic' type paper make excellent masks/stencils. I'll be buying again.
