Fighting for your life has never been more arousing! Based off the hit game series, Valkyrie Drive comes a titillating tale of power, war, and a beautiful bond between girls. The Armed Virus plagues a small percent of the female population, turning girls into living weapons that are activated with a special…touch. Afraid of the power they hold, these girls are sent to islands where they either survive or die trying. Mamori Tokonome is sent to Mermaid Island and thrust into a world where she is paired up with the mysterious and buxom beauty, Mirei Shikishima. Pressed against a corner, a passionate kiss releases Mamori's power and she becomes a mighty sword that, in Mirei's strong grip, is a fearsome weapon. Together they'll face the Wärter, a group that believes in ruling with a firm hand, who seek the most powerful weapons. Wanting nothing to do with this organization, Mamori and Mirei must find their own way home before the Wärter can claim them for good. The harder they fight, the closer they grow—can Mamori handle when the battle and feelings heat up?Bonus Content:Disc 1 - Valkyrie Drive Mermaid - The Complete Series: Mini OVA CollectionEpisode 03 CommentaryTextless Songs]]> Review: A fanservice juggernaut from ecchi Legend Hiraku Kaneko finally comes Stateside. - Director Hiraku Kaneko is pretty well-loved across the internet for his contributions to such fanservice epics like Queen's Blade, Seikon no Qwaser, Manyuu Hikenchou, and Maken-Ki. He returns to directing with this videogame franchise tie-in anime, bringing his signature design of women's "assets" to the show. Kaneko's love is similar to Space Dandy, he loves the Boobies, and as such (especially through ecchi Legend Seikon no Qwaser) he has developed a certain way to portray breasts in a much more erotic and realistic way when compared to how they are portrayed in most anime.... which is comically with cartoony sound effects when women's chests bounce around. Kaneko definitely isn't a fan of that, so he pretty much pioneered the use of more realistic "fatty" flop/smack sound effects when women go ape with their chests. The story isn't of consequence with a show like this, neither is the sound really. The visuals matter really only for the fights and the perversion which is what you hope for in these things. You won't find better crafted boobies on screen than what Kaneko manages to instill in his work force. Like I said earlier, just look up Seikon no Qwaser, Maken-Ki 2, or Manyuu Hikenchou. A+ fanservice for those obsessed with the things which hold men's hopes and dreams! Since this IS the dub Blu-Ray I will at least give it the honors of a recommendation. I HATED the voices for the MCs in the Japanese Sub, but here in the Dub they are Much more enjoyable to listen to. Jamie Marchi as ANY ecchi character (especially one so "well-endowed" as Lady J) is going to be a treat to listen to, and her performance along with Tia Ballard as Rein was a lot more sexual and mature then the Japanese version but in a very refreshing and sweet way. In the Dub the pair seem to be more infatuated with each other, and more comfortable with each other as partners (especially in the 5th Special). That Special is also a good example of the westernized dialogue for the show, which I think goes great with the action on screen and goes a long way to making everything seem complete. The visuals and fanservice were great in the original, but it didn't stick with me and I hated some of the more annoying characters... the Dub version though (after blazing through it this morning) has breathed new life into this show for me, and for characters like Meifon, Lady J, and Rein the Dub variants are far superior to the subs ESPECIALLY the little red-head MC. Review: Like transformers only it's all women. - Not at all for kids this is a pretty wild and fan servicey anime. Quite entertaining to watch. My only complaint is that the case arrived broken and the cover sleeve was torn in one corner. Time to recalibrate all your robot goons to be more delicate. I didn't receive my digital copy even though it was brand new. Oh well.

An Island Named "Mermaid"
A story about a place where they send girls from around the world that have been infected by a virus. No mermaids here. Because of their condition, the girls have a fighting ability where they are paired in twos. One becomes a weapon and the other, the fighter. The weapon transformation is triggered by the close relationship of the pair. Usually from physical contact, but sometimes not. The residents of the island are all being held against their will and the hope is that they will someday be able to return to their homes. The story has a range of characters and a range of emotions. This is definitely a TV-MA presentation with lots of "Sans-Clothing" going on throughout the series and OVAs. ("ANIME: Storytelling at its best")

Pun
Holy naked, surprises right off. But it's a clean nakedness that's on the playful side of things. This is a combat anime where eroticism turns partners into weapons. It has good to great animation (more than just caring about the naked parts - there is nice movement, character details, action), and voice acting. The subs are fine, though, the lines aren't too deep. As always, didn't listen to the dub and assume it's garbage. The anime starts naked and roars right along, lurching when it pauses to go for some character and story development. And here's where the second surprise of the series hit me: not a bad plot at all. The series goes darker, and the world picks up a bit more weight. But not enough so the fan service takes on more meaning. The anime has a goal, and climaxes (pun) with a surprisingly satisfying end battle. It was at this point that I felt that the people behind this one really felt liberated. Is this one dripping with sexual overtones? Yes. But it's largely clean and light. Perhaps because it's all women? There is enough hints for world building to please in other ways. I'm quite shocked to give this one a 4. Not an instant classic, but I would enjoy watching it again. If the series had more time to breathe, had more details of the world, it might've gone all the way (last pun). The included extra OVA extends more of the playful sexuality of the series, with more character moments, but not more of the world. So, buy or not to buy? Of all of the animation I've gotten that's straddled the line (ok, now I'm done) between regular fanservice anime and outright hentai, this is a good one.

Ecchi story about a group of girls, infected with a rare virus that lets their body transform into a weapon every time they get sexually aroused. For example by intimate tongue-kissing each other,or caressing their oppai.Because they form a serious threat to humanity, they are isolated on a far-off,deserted island,on wich one of their groups hope to find a cure for their disease, while the other group doesn't want to be cured, but hope to advance their weapon-skills by training, thus fighting each other severely. Warning!Contains an awful lot of sexualised nudity and lesbian intimacy.Definately not suitable for minors! However I can recommend it to all who love this kind of fanservice.

Good series but the disc is region locked to the US. Description doesn’t mention this so that was disappointing.
