Best shaving brush
Large brush. First experience. Stiffer bristles. Excellent at holding lather. So outperforms other brushes that I have purchased. Italians create another great product. Good price point compared to others that don't perform as well. I don't usually do reviews. But this product so deserves being mentioned.

Stiff, makes loads of lather
Wonderful brush that makes loads of later and raises beard perfectly. Only negative is that the handle is large and doesn't fit in my stand.

Hard boar bristles - not for straight hair
Surprised that a product from Proraso would use boar, which is not for all facial hair types. I have very straight and stiff hair and so the boar was too much like my own hair. It didn’t do a good job lifting the hairs at all. I switched to a synthetic and immediately got better results. I am giving four stars because it’s still a quality product and I like the larger size and feel. Just know that it is boar so it won’t work for everyone.

Old Tech is almost always better
I’m old and old people are wise. As such, I use what works and has worked for 35 years. My first shaving brush was given to me by my father. He told me “A washrag with soaked in hot water to soften your beard, this brush lathered with shaving soap, use the brush to scruff your beard up, then the razor. Always did the job for me?” Sound advice from a wise man. This is a good brush and worth a few extra bucks. Proraso also makes good shaving soap.

Game changer for me!
About a year ago I started shaving with a quality double edge razor, but I resisted the idea of using shave soap and brush. Instead I kept on using the same types of shaving cream I had used before, but I wasn't getting the best result with them. Recently I decided maybe I should try Proraso shave soap and that seemed very promising, so I went ahead and bought this brush to use with it. Wow! I had tried a lot of shaving products over the 40ish years I have been shaving, and this is the best by far! At first it seemed a bit stiff, but it quickly softens and feels very nice. There were some lost bristles at first, but that seems to have stopped. Overall, I'm very pleased and would urge anyone looking for a better shave to give this a try!

Ok, but there’s better
The Proraso shaving brush is fine. If you’re looking for a stiffer brush with better exfoliation, or just not certain you actually want to use a shaving brush- it does the job. But for a bit more money you can get nicer brushes. Truth be told, I bought this by accident; my search included “badger” and this was promoted in the results. It’s boar hair. Rather than return it I decided to use it alongside badger and synthetic brushes for comparison. It was the cheapest of the 3, and also my least favorite. It’s stiffer than I expected, straight out of the box I wasn’t keen on rubbing it on my face- seemed more suited as a grill brush or perhaps to scrub espresso cups. After letting it sit in warm water it softens up nicely and has a nice scrub-y vibe. Didn’t smell great, think “wet dog” (pig?), but that went away after one use. Tried with three different shaving creams, its lather action is nothing special; similar to synthetic but less than badger. Pretty painless to rinse, dry, etc. It’s girth-y-er than some other brushes. The narrowest part is about 1.1” where the knot meets the handle, so it won’t fit in some brush stands (many are 1”- but it could squeeze in). The wide chrome handle is only plastic so be careful with your bowl/mug/scuttle; mine is marble and the bottom of the brush handle now has a number of unsightly scratches after just a few uses.
