My Grandson Loves This Book
Last night, my 3-year old grandson wanted to read his favorite book for bedtime, "Carl Goes to Daycare" by Alexandra Day. I told him we were going to read a new book instead -- "Maybe" by Kobi Yamada. He thoroughly enjoyed the book and "read it" back to me page, by page after we finished. This morning, he pulled every book off the shelf looking for "The owl book". I didn't know what he was talking about. When he spotted "Maybe" on the coffee table where we'd left it, said, "That book!" (The feathered bird cap the child in the book wears looked like an owl to him. 🙂) As we reread it, he kept commenting sweetly, "I love this book. This book is so cool." He gives the book a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ rating. It's his new favorite. The illustrations in this book are beautiful, thought- provoking, almost magical. The text has equal depth and beauty. After seeing how it touched my grandson's heart, I give it a 5-star rating as well.

"Have you ever wondered why you are here?"
This is my new FAVORITE book! That's a high compliment from a nightlight reader since childhood, now age 73, after perusing and/or reading probably half a million books in the United States. As the eldest of 9 children, a reader, student, poet, English major, Master of Library Science, librarian, proofreader, book reviewer, copy editor, publisher's editor, department head, storyteller, playwright, teacher, media specialist, writer, author, songwriter and publisher, I know and love children and young adults and books. I identify with one sentence in this inspiring picture book of many "maybe" thoughts the writer poses for his beloved readers: "Maybe you will speak up for those who can't speak for themselves?" Children's picture books are not just for children. This book's surprise ending is perfect! Highly recommended for all ages and libraries.

Beautifully written and very thoughtfully illustrated...for all ages.
I am a former kinder teacher & this is just the kind of book I'd want to share with my students, as well as my own children when they were little & working through using their imagination through the art of play experiences. "Ones imagination." Yet, the person I'm giving this book to this Christmas is my teenage grand-daughter. Why? because first of all...this is a beautifully illustrated book and is encouraging a person of any age 'to look at where they are at the moment in life & where they are going'. What should be coherent for each of us thru our life span. This book invoked a peaceful feeling as I read it, with the illustrations doing a beautiful job of contributing to the written words.

Molto bello come pure gli altri libri di Kobi Yamada. Mi sono piaciute un sacco le illustrazioni e mia figlia si è commossa leggendolo. Lo consiglio vivamente.

“This is a story for everything you will do and everything you could be. It’s for who you are right now, and it’s for all the magical, unbounded potential you hold inside.” Maybe is one of the most beautiful books I have ever owned. The simple yet profound words of Kobi Yamada capture the essence of hope, the fear of uncertainty and the strength of resilience in us all, brimming throughout with positive affirmation that you can do, and be whatever you wish. With absolutely stunning painterly illustrations by Gabriella Barouch, Maybe is a wonderful gift for all ages and perfect for helping young readers to believe in themselves and what they can achieve.
