Very sturdy
When I first saw this, I thought "who would pay that much for a pool pole?" About a year later, I answered that question with "me." The pole extends very easily by pressing the two buttons on the collar and locks into position without any twisting and turning of a screw mechanism. I use this with the silt net bottom skimmer and the 16 foot length is necessary to reach the bottom of the high foot deep end. I once over-collapsed the pole and was unable to extend it, but the collar was relatively easy to disassemble, correct the problem, and reassemble. Seeing the inner workings made me admire the engineering design of the lock collar.

Solid Product that works well and will last
Yes, this product is expensive, but it is also really well made. I bought this because I was unhappy with the cheap telescoping pole I bought at wal-mart. I tried to find a product that was better than the $30 poles but less expensive than this one, but I ended up giving up the search because I wasn't confident in the other products. I really wanted to buy something that would last for 20 years and I think this will do it. The extension mechanism works well and provides a solid lock at each indentation. The pole does not flex and yes, is a bit heavier than the cheap telescoping pole I had but it really doesn't affect its useability in my opinion.

Very well made, with smooth and reliable function.
This thing is honestly the best pool pole I've ever had. The tubing is nice and thick, and it has some kind of coating that makes it smooth to the touch. The extension mechanism is dead simple to use, and works very well. It doesn't slip, and doesn't feel cheap at all. I'll be surprised if it breaks. The only problem I've had with it so far is some pitting of the metal, but that's entirely user error. My kids leave it submerged in the pool practically 24/7 so the chlorine has gone to work on it somewhat, but even with that abuse, it's holding up amazingly well. I haven't had experience with the replacement guarantee yet, so I can't comment on that part,

If you need a strong telescoping pole, hit buy now!
I own the ProTuff 16 foot telescoping model. It consists of two aluminium fluted poles. The interior pole is reinforced by the locking mechanism track inlaid through the length of action. The locking collar is a 2 button slide and lock style ring. The outer cover for the locking mechanism is made of a composite or plastic material. The pole seems powder coated, is is fluted for strength and rigidity, also heavier Guage (thicker wall) than most pool poles. The ProTuff is sturdy even if fully extenand the locking Appears to be powder coated. It is a professional level piece of gear. The ROI is good but the price is higher than most or all others I found. But since over the last several year I have gone thru 3 poles that were marketed as strong... wrong...was a closer descriptioion. The ProTuff pole IS the quality that a professional or home user would be looking for when Ll others have failed them.. once a person uses it they are satisfied in the cost. Cost to Benefit breakdown 1. Pole is made of thick Guage aluminum, having 2 x 8 foot sections with the locking collar in the middle connection. It can be heavy and cumbersome to use or some si ce it's heavy on its own not counting any accessories. It has a ne icnce the normal operation does not allow the poles to pull apart. But the height from deck upward can be a pain if working in tight spaces. I only have 2 issues: one is the amount of bow in the pole when under a heavy load. Whe you have a heavier load and the basket is full the pole can flex enough to be noticed. But the llo ing collar should be me of solid and Milled stock like the broom adapter is. The pro tuff pole is for certain the strongest I have had or even seen in 30+ years. It can be a challenge picking out the best for the application and knowing what is best for the money all that other stuff.... This pole is what you need and have been looking for....stop looking. Buy it now and see for yourself... if you are not satisfied by the ProTuff Pole, maybe pool cleaning is not your call in life. :)

Awesome product, awesome service
I have owned this pole for 2 years, and have put off writing a review for too long. It is exceptionally well made, and I'm very happy with the product AND the customer service from Pro Tuff. I'd give it 10 stars if I could - read on to know why I leave it outdoors 24/7... in the freezing winter and hot summers, rain or shine, etc. Not a speck of rust. I have a 12ft deep pool, and this thing can reach every corner of it with its settings. Adjusting the length is a breeze with the buttons on the collar, so easy my 5yo can do it. But not so easy that it adjusts unwantedly (both sides must be compressed at the same time). I've pulled out heavy objects (20lbs) from the deep end and the pole has not warped or bent or cracked. I can scrub with all the force I want without worrying about deforming this pole. Of course, wear and tear has occured. The rubber handle on the end came off and eventually was lost. The collar adjustment lost a button when one of my kids threw it on the deck too hard. This is where Pro Tuff customer service comes in - their lifetime warranty is the real deal. Just register your product after receiving it (takes a minute on your phone), and you get lifetime part replacements. I finally put in a warranty claim for the handle and collar after they sent me a reminder email to use the warranty if I needed to (very rare for a company to invite you to do this). The claim process was easy - all I did was select the parts I needed and confirm my address. Within 2 days, the parts arrived at zero cost to me (not even shipping and handling) - a new handle with a tube of super glue, and a new collar with extra screws in case I needed them. 10 minutes later my pole is as good as brand new. I wholeheartedly recommend this product and this company (I also use their pool rake and scrub brush attachments - those are treated the same as the pole and I've yet to need to warranty them 2 years in). Stop buying cheap products that break over and over, and invest in quality products that you can use for several years... And support a small business while you're at it! Win-win.

THIS POLE IS THE REAL DEAL AND A LIFESAVER
After wasting hours and hours and hours researching and looking at all of my options, reading reviews, and after wasting money and serious amounts of time, effort, and frustration - I had pretty much given up hope that a reliable, well made, not outrageously priced pole option even existed. When I finally found the ProTuff's pole and read everything I was skeptical because it sounded too good to be true. I went back and forth with myself about getting it because of the price but this thing is amazing and everything it claims to be and I can't tell you how much time and energy and effort and little fits of rage here and there it has saved me already. It is worth every penny and honestly, I'm surprised it doesn't cost way more cause it'd be worth it. Never thought I'd say that in my lifetime but here we are. And the lifetime warranty/replacement guarantee says it all. That's a company that knows they make a good, quality product and standing behind it and putting their money where their mouth is. I didn't think companies like this still existed and I never knew a pole could make me so happy and my life so much easier. Thank you so much ProTuff!! Edited to correct company name from PoolTuff to ProTuff -that's embarassing! So sorry ProTuff!! But while I'm here - I'm also editing my comment to add that I just read through the one star ratings because I was really curious to see how anyone could find anything wrong with this amazing product. I've used mine almost daily now for the last few months on some pretty tough jobs and it has worked perfectly for me since day 1 (*knock on wood*). After reading the negative reviews - I'm having a really tough time believing most if not all of them. Just my two cents but I'd be happy to go into further detail if anyone is letting any of those negative reviews stand in their way of buying this product or if anyone is just interested in knowing why I feel that way. I am in no way affiliated with ProTuff and I haven't received any kind of compensation from them. I just believe that they are an amazing company with an excellent product and superior customer service and that is almost impossible to find these days. I have nothing but praise for the products I have bought from them & I have nothing but respect with how they run their business. The name ProTuff should be known by every pool owner & their sales should be through the roof just from word of mouth advertising from those who have been lucky enough to try out and/or to own their amazing products. I currently own their 16' telescopic pole & their heavy duty leaf rake so I can only speak on them presently but I can't wait to buy any & all of their products that could be of use to me in caring for my 23k gallon pool as soon as I'm able. That's how much I believe in this company. Thanks again ProTuff - you've earned a very loyal customer for life!

Strong and Lasting, but heavy.
This pole is a lot sturdier than the cheap aluminum poles at the pool store or Home Depot. I can definitely see how this pole could last for years. I used to buy at least one pole per year as the plastic threaded tightening sleeves for the extensions would always break. Other pole the extensions slip when you apply pressure, but the Pro Tuff locks into place and does not slip. The only complaint is the trade off for such a sturdy pole is that it is significantly heavier. However, there is no way to make a pole this great without making it heavier-so the trade off is worth it in my opinion.

Tough but not that tough, not perfect but worth it
If you're reading this, first of all this is the best pool pole out there(I would know I've tried many), if you don't use it a lot(just for your own pool) it will last forever(the warranty is top notch and they will communicate with you promptly) But if you use it a lot like I do it's not perfect but still worth it, with my own personal modifications as to how I use it because I'm rough with it and use it a lot. Tough but not that tough, as you can see I've modified it a bit. The bottom tip has a ball cause I drop it that way a lot, the handle comes off easily after a while and the glue they have in and they send in(if you put a warranty claim for the handle) doesn't really hold. I initially zip tied it cause the rubber part of the handle kept slipping but then the zip ties became a nuisance as it was hurting my grip. So this is my fix for that so far it's been great. The locking mechanism is great, the best out there. But after a couple of drops as you can see the lock button came off, the red part gets lose(find yourself a screwdriver and tighten it before it starts to crack like mine did eventually) but as far as I can tell you only need one button thing to lock and unlock the pole. It's never slip once it's locked in place, so far the lock holes are starting to show signs of wear. The top part(where you put in the net/brush etc.) has cracked so it's a bit lose so that's my fix. It is a bit hefty but I like it that way. I wish I had gotten the 12ft one. If you use this only for your pool I doubt you'll have any of this issues. For me I've been using this close to a year now. And I've used this over a thousand times by now. It's my longest lasting pole. If you use this once a week/month it may outlast your pool.
